"Well, your memory's better than mine. All I remember is fighting...and some other stuff. It'll come back, I guess, as you say."
"At least you two are sure that you've forgotten stuff," Shade said. "My mind's saying that I fought a demon last night, and other than Wolf's coronation, that's all I remember." A demon. So why was her father's human blurred over it in her memories? Because he'd never fight her except to train, and the demon had wanted to kill her. And why did she almost see Kit beside her, with another demon fighting him?
Almost. That was the key word. Sometimes his outline was there, but most of the time he wasn't there at all. So how did she know it was Kit, and not her father, or something like that? And the demon's outline was never there at the same time as Kit's, oddly. But then Shade got pulled out of her memories by Kat saying "What now?"
"We wait for the other knights to arrive so that Wolf can tell us whatever's so urgent. And then, if we can, I think we should investigate why we can't remember what happened last night."

"Oh, Shino," Wolf said aghast, startled as he turned around to see the White Knight walking towards him. Wolf let his eyes wander, somewhat ashamed at is predicament. "Of course I'm nervous," he whispered so quietly he doubted that Shino had heard him.
"I'm just a bit shaky," he said more loudly, hoping to cover up his slip, "a lot happened last night, and I suppose it all hasn't settled in yet." Wolf glanced towards the heavy curtain nearby, yet even though he could envision his Knights upon the other side, he couldn't see them as he had momentarily hoped to. "I guess...we're all feeling a bit shaky, unsettled, you know... We're a kingdom now, united, and our trials together are just beginning..."
He shook his head, growing ever more agitated. "Have you any idea of where Sir Kabe is?" Wolf sighed heavily and spun around, almost pulling the curtain back again but stopping himself before he could. "He's supposed to be introducing me right now, but I haven't seen him at all today."
Wolf crossed his arms and remained facing away from Shino; he didn't want the nervousness on his face to show so easily.
"You should go join the others," his words softly spoken, "I'm sure Kabe will be here soon, and you shouldn't miss your breakfast on account of his tardiness."

"At least you two are sure that you've forgotten stuff," Shade said. "My mind's saying that I fought a demon last night, and other than Wolf's coronation, that's all I remember."
A demon... Tamia mused to herself. Could that be what those shadowy enemies had been? Nothing more than a demon attack? She tried to convince herself, but her persuasions fell short. She had encountered demonic opponents even before Lord Giyer's death -- devastating demonic attacks, she reminded herself grimly, remembering her father -- and the battles just didn't match up. Last night's battle had resulted in unusual damage. If her memories of the two knights' still bodies on the dank dungeon floor were any indication, they had been fighting something else -- maybe even several different somethings.
Demons, Oran sniffed disgustedly, overlooking the conversation from the windowsill.
Tamia pushed her half-full plate away, not really in the mood for eating. "I don't know," she whispered, lips unmoving, using the noise that sliding her dishes away produced to mask her voice. "I want to say that I hate demons, but I can't help but think that if someone would dedicate their life to studying them, there must be something I'm missing."
You're missing nothing, Oran said abruptly. There is nothing to be gained by associating with demonkind but pain and misery. You should be the first to admit that.
Tamia didn't answer, but her expression betrayed her.
You said you would start taking my advice, so here's your opportunity. With any luck you will do so before you meet the same fate as your father, the cat growled bad-temperedly.
Doing her best to ignore him, Tamia turned her attention back to the dining knights. "Whatever we're gathered here for, I hope we find out soon," she mumbled.

Zari sensed Pyro's gaze, and tensed. 'Zari hates being stared at. It makes her nervous.' stated Zaha. Zari glared at her before shrinking back in her seat slightly. She'd been stared at all her life, like something on a leash, for most of her life, but that didn't stop her reflex of looking away, blending in. 'Uhmm...'

'Zari hates being stared at. It makes her nervous.'
Pyro quickly shifted her gaze away.
"Sorry," she said with an apologetic half-grin, "old habits die hard."

"We wait for the other knights to arrive so that Wolf can tell us whatever's so urgent. And then, if we can, I think we should investigate why we can't remember what happened last night," Shade said, apparently in reply to Kat's question.
"Good call," said Kat. "Still...why is my something-bad-is-gonna-happen sense tingling? Or maybe I'm just paranoid."

Jason sighed as he followed Trili and Nut. (as mentioned on page 4.) "I'll figure my own way to the kitchen." he said aloud. Smirking, he continued to walk aimlessly. After some time he stumbled upon the castle kitchen door. Knocking, the young knight waited to get let in.

"Good call," said Kat. "Still...why is my something-bad-is-gonna-happen sense tingling? Or maybe I'm just paranoid."
"Probably because nothing is happening," Tamia murmured. "Something happened last night, and today, everything seems back to normal..." She trailed off. "It's enough to make anyone paranoid."

((You might want to grab Jason with Kabe, Wolf. )) "Oh, Shino, of course I'm nervous.""Obviously there's something you are particularly concerned about, otherwise you wouldn't have had all new and old Knights don their best wear and join in breakfast this morn, Sire." Shino replied as he tried his best not to be impertinent in his further pursuit of the subject. "I'm just a bit shaky...a lot happened last night, and I suppose it all hasn't settled in yet. I guess...we're all feeling a bit shaky, unsettled, you know... We're a kingdom now, united, and our trials together are just beginning..."Placing a firm hand on the King's broad shoulder, he steadied his gaze after his friend's face. "Something happened last night, m'lord. Cloaked figures...shadowy dances in the halls...Even at one point it seemed I was immobilized and taken captive...but it seems we all were excessively drunk." "Either that or there really was something to worry about." It seemed that there was no end to the Green Knight's concerns this morning. From dawn til dusk, usually he was a little more settled. Shino now wondered if Wolf could handle such a job at his youthful age. When Lord Wolf raised the question of the whereabouts of Sir Kabe, he released his grip and gestured backwards. "The Gallant Arrow was following me in the cookery passageway, m'lord. He'll proabably be with you momentarily." Shino said with a slight smile, "No need to fret, Wolf." Still Wolf seemed to hold his thoughts away from Shino's curious reach. "You should go join the others. You shouldn't miss your breakfast on account of his tardiness." "As you wish, Sire." He said with a bow, "Under your orders." Shino came out from behind the curtain and left his King. Wolfwould tell them all in due time. Seeing most of the Knights already seated, Shino took a seat next to Sir Kit who was in a conversation with Lady Ikkin. Consequentially his seat was next to the head of the table, with only a corner seperating the King's Royal Dinging Chair. "How goes the day for you thus far, Sir Kit?" He inquired of the Grey Knight as he grabbed an apple and placed it on his silver dish.

Kit looked impatiently at the curtains of the Great Hall's stage. He wondered how much longer Wolf would take, the quicker he got out of this hall of food, the better. He was tempted to use his clairvoyance to foresee whatever Wolf had planned, just so he could leave the hall; but decided against it. In his current state, any clairvoyant flash he'd have would probably be incoherent, and besides it would still be rude for him to leave the hall.
"I don't think I quite said what I meant to about demons... I didn't mean to say I thought they were all evil or anything... just that... What I really meant to say was, I can understand what it's like to be feared for something you can't help, because people don't know what you're really like. It's just that... making deals with other intelligent creatures - whether human, demon, or other - seems to be inherently risky, particularly when those creatures are a great deal more powerful than yourself. Not that I thought it was dangerous because it's demons that you're dealing with."
Kit sighed mentally, he was too tired to think about the subject any further. He wondered if Ikkin would consider a diplomat's job dangerous, considering what she just said. Though he had to admit, perhaps he was being too harsh on Ikkin. She was a nice person, and had his stomach not been trying to find new ways to hurt Kit, he would probably had enjoyed her company more. After all, it wasn't everyday that he found somebody who was willing to listen to him talk about demonology and tarot.
"I'm sorry... I have trouble getting my point across sometimes..."
Kit gave her a reassuring smile, or tried to at any rate. "It's alright, really," he wished he could have said more, but he didn't feel like talking much. He hoped Ikkin wouldn't take any offence at his apparent coldness though, he would like to carry on the conversation with her at some other time. Preferably when he wasn't hungry and didn't have a masochistical stomach.
"At least you two are sure that you've forgotten stuff. My mind's saying that I fought a demon last night, and other than Wolf's coronation, that's all I remember."
Apparently they weren't the only one talking on demons. Kit started to make a comment on the food, trying to steer the conversation between him an Ikkin away from the topic of demons,
"So, ho-" He stopped abruptly, his eyes staring into open space. He could see Maya in his room, her features struck with terror as her fragile figure lay curled up on the cold stone floor in the middle of a demonic pattern which seemed alien even to Kit. Maya seemed to be trembling badly, her delicate hands clenched so tightly her knuckles were a ghostly white, as she mouthed a single word over and over again.
"Winterstone"
Kit broke out of the clairvoyant flash, a new sense of horrific urgency filling his mind. He glared at the curtains of the stage, Wolf had better be quick, Kit didn't wish to be tied down here any longer. He just prayed that Maya was alright and that the flash was one of a possible future, not something that was currently happening.
"How goes the day for you thus fa, Sir Kit?"
Kit turned to see Shino joining them at the table, for a moment his mind was more occupied with Maya's welfare than breakfast conversations, but he had to answer Shino.
"Rather interestingly, Sir Shino. Yourself?"

Ikkin had to wonder if Kit had just given up on her when she noticed that he wasn't really paying attention to her attempt at explaining herself, or if she had said something wrong that upset him. But then, he smiled reassuringly, and said, "It's alright, really, and she realized that he probably just wasn't up to listen to long-winded explanations in the state he was in.
She wondered if she should apologize for that now, then asked herself, why am I so careful around him? She normally didn't like to offend people as it was, but it was much worse around Kit, and she wasn't quite sure why.
She was snapped out of her thoughts as Kit started to say something, and suddenly cut off, staring into empty space. "Kit, are you alri-" she started to ask, then realized that this probably had to do with his clairvoyance and she was just worrying too much. The look on his face as he snapped out of it and glared towards the curtains wasn't very comforting, though, and she wondered what he had seen.
Before she could ask, though, Shino came up beside Kit and asked Kit, "How goes the day for you thus far, Sir Kit?"
"Rather interestingly, Sir Shino. Yourself?" Kit said.
Ikkin sighed. It seemed that there wasn't much room for her in this conversation, so she just sat and listened while finishing her meat. She filed away Kit's flash into the back of her mind to ask him about later, though; his voice betrayed the fact that whatever he had seen had bothered him.
Then again, she probably shouldn't pry anyway.

((For anyone's burning curiosity...Shino wears slightly less formal clothing these days than before. His usually pulled-back-into-a-ponytail hair is now let loose and the long, shaggy, silver-white locks are everywhere. Also...A mysterious 'X' scar is marked on his left cheek.
Sounds really cliche, I know, but it's still fun for me.))
After engaging himself in conversation with the Gray Knight, it seemed that there was something, if not a look of concern, on Sir Kit's face. This man wasn't an open book and kept himself and his emotions mostly to himself, so it seemed a bit peculiar. Shino wouldn't press it though. Anything could happen to affect a Knight in Castle Kestrel and it wasn't always out of the ordinary to be worried over something.
Although there did seem to be a lot of that going around.
"Rather interestingly, Sir Shino. Yourself?"
"As you can see," Shino said as he indicated his different hairstyle and clothing, "I look and feel differently than yesterday. I don't know what it is, but it feels...supreme." He breathed in and then exhaled the air, in a sudden rush of joy. He was definitely glad to be alive this day. And nothing exceedingly great had even happened yet.
Taking a bite out of the glistening, red apple in his hands he was also gazing around the table of dining, talking Knights. Ikkin seemed to be thinking extremely hard about something, Tamia was conversing with Shade, and Kat-
Wow.
Lady Kalianne Triss.
Every time he saw her elegance, grace, & beauty he was stunned evermore. It was a great delight in seeing her living, breathing every single day of this life. Never could Shino imagine a second without her luminous face, soft features, and virtuous personality. Before, he had always appreciated her beauty from a distance. Never actually expressing his feelings or emotions with Lady Kalianne. Though, he never thought about her in any displeasing manner, he still thought about her often.
Shino rose from his seat slowly and walked over to the Purple Knight. "Good morning...Kat." Shino said before he bent over to kiss her smooth, gentle hand. What was this?! He had never addressed her in such an informal way before. It was as if he was a completely different person. Shino had always feared that if he had been overtly forward in his feelings that he would lose her as a good friend.
But now...it seemed that all that mattered was that he cared for her more than ever before.
"Would you mind if I sat with you, m'lady?

Ikkin finished eating, put down her fork, and wiped her face with her napkin as Shino continued talking to Kit. "As you can see," Shino said, motioning towards his hair and his clothes, "I look and feel differently than yesterday. I don't know what it is, but it feels...supreme." He inhaled then exhaled, strangely happy all of a sudden.
And then, before Ikkin knew it, he had gotten up and moved towards Kat. Ikkin looked back towards Kit, not really in the mood to watch the shippy scene before her.
"What was that about?" she asked. "Shino seems... odd... this morning. Speaking of which..." she said, "you looked like you'd seen a ghost for a moment there... did you see something? Er, probably not a ghost, but... you know what I mean, right?"
...well, that was rather awkward. But Ikkin figured it would be best off to ask, if only to try to get a conversation going. Hopefully, he wouldn't mind too much.
She looked towards the stage for a moment, wondering when Wolf would appear on it, then back towards Kit. As much as she wanted to keep trying to talk to Kit, the sooner Wolf showed up, the sooner this awkwardness would be over. Maybe Wolf's announcement could give them something to talk about that wasn't likely to hurt him.

Confident that the conversation seemed to have swung away from demons for the moment, Tamia relaxed slightly. Despite what Oran said, Tamia was feeling wholeheartedly unsure about the entire issue, and the last thing she needed now was a raging internal conflict. She suspected that pushing it to the back of her mind would inevitably come back to plague her, but right now, she needed to focus on more important things.
Like breakfast. Carefully, she poured herself another half glass of cold apple juice, paying attention to the hall around her. She counted most of the knights she knew as present.
"I wonder what the King has planned for us," Tamia said, half to herself, half to the nearest knight nearby who was not already involved in a conversation -- this happened to be Shade. A twinge of nervousness crossed her mind; he wouldn't send them into battle so soon after yesterday's escapade, would he?
As the hall seemed to finish filling up, she estimated that out of all the Knights, the ones who were interested in attending this meeting were probably already present. "Who are we waiting on?" she breathed irritably, so that only Oran could hear.
I don't know, Oran said lethargically, stretching in the morning sunlight that was streaming through the open window. But my guess is that it's probably someone fairly unimportant.
