[glow=red,2,300]I know GW2 has a long way to go before she's over, but how do you lot feel about our redecoration being slightly more permanent? Like, it'll still be black if we should hap to lose the gem.
My thoughts on the matter are this: I think our Weewoo should stay white, but there should be some uncontrollable residual effects, which we can hire a mage to stabilize. i.e. if she's feeling threatened, the ship will automatically put up a black mist. if she's really feeling threatened, she can go full black. The wings would be extraordinarily hard to pull out, but it will be possible.
Now, we have no control over our ship doing this. This makes the Weewoo a character in her own right, with a personality, like Mage Manor. If you're feeling really desperate, you could go the Hunty route and say, "if you don't go all black and shiny, I'll smash you into kindling myself," but you can't abuse that or she'll stop taking you seriously.
Also, should she have a different name when she goes black? I'm thinking either The Black Weewoo or The Raven.[/glow]

I'd agree with the whole own character idea and colour change thing. I say The Raven, or The Crow.

=D Shieldy black mist would be good, as well as, like, a battle transformation. >D But when it's smooth sailing, yes, it should stay white and pretty. And a name change would be neat, kind of like a secret identity. >> Transformers: Weewoos in Disguise.
....So basically I agree with what Rider says. :3

XDDD By day, she's the White Weewoo, but by night, she fights crime as... the Raven!
I'm not so sure about the spontaneous name change/color change, but the residual magic effects I definitely approve.

Well, I'll tackle the naming question first, because I'm a little more familiar with it xD
Ships are renamed, often when they switch owners or flags (well, usually one comes with the other) or go through other big changes. Did You Know that the Black Pearl was originally named the Wicked Wench before she sank after an attack and Davy Jones lifted her up for Jack (followed by this whole soul-deal)? But that means a big change. The name determines the ship itself. And with the black-White-Weewoo, the original ship is still there, the black part is the casing, not a transformation.
...and since my dad just conveniently walked in and he knows more about that stuff, I used the chance to ask. Nowadays ships change names with new companies because it makes the paperwork easier. And because companies want a clean sheet with a new ship. Either way, we don't have the need to change, because a new name would literally mean a new ship, and horribly un-stealthy as the current nutshell is, it's our nutshell, and with pimped spikes, a name would be the only thing that connects it with the old version.
...long story short, I don't wanna rename her. Though I'm willing to bend over backwards if the majority should decide otherwise.
Nao, as for the redecoration itself. Youknow, I rarely suck my posts out of the pen, eh, keyboard :3 Everything ship-related has a connection of one sort or other in my case. And sailships, especially old ones, did become more than just a lot of wood and sails and ropes. S'why they're always referred to as 'she'. Basically, the way I see it, in GW I just gave her the opportunity to take some additional power. What she herself was, didn't change, just got a way to express itself (and a flaunty one she is, yessir >>). And I'm not entirely sure if we'll be able to take it away, because I doubt she'd like it xD But it'd probably have to be an emergency situation, yes. If you saw the sketch I did and the descriptions I gave, well, they go against a bunch of laws of physics. She can't remain that way forever. The yards are too wide, she'd tip over without actively keeping herself up. The rigging is too big for two masts only. And so forth. I planned her with the idea of changing her back later.

[glow=red,2,300]I'm talking about naming her other form, Hunty, not renaming the ship itself. It's like naming shiny lightning bolt anime attacks. the name is not necessay, but you can't just say "shiny lightning bolt anime attack," because that describes half of anime. >.>
More accurately, it's like what Zy said about superheroes. When you're a superhero, you change your name because you look shiny. oh sure, they say it's all about secret identities, but really it's 'cause you look shiny. XD[/glow]

Of course, if we name the magic form of the ship something like "Raven form," I'll forever think of Animorphs. So no to keeping the name, a resounding maybe to naming the form. XD Knowing us, even if we don't vote on an official name, we'll come up with something like "doom mode" that'll stick.

I like the "Doom Mode" idea actually XD
But yea, hmmm.. I have an additional idea for the transition from white to black. I'll pictorialy post it later. (along side the transformers wannabe)

I like the idea of calling the form The Raven. Mainly because I'd love to figure out how to fit a Poe reference into Guild Wars with it. ("Quoth The Raven, nevermore")

Since it'll be depending on the ship a lot, it won't really be 'ACTIVATE DOOM MODE *cue cheery J-pop* but rather 'and then... the ship turned into The Raven' which sounds kinda oddly unnecessary to me >> Especially since it's a casing, not a transformation. It'd be like sailing with two ships on one another. Then again, might be because I watched Sailor Moon for ten years inna row and had plenty of time to grow thoroughly sick of all the transformation and attack scenes, because I knew them all by heart and wanted to get back to the actual story xD Either way, vox populi, vox Dei, and if the crew wants a secret-identity-name, works for me. I tend to call her the Weewoo either way x3
