...Right. ^^
Imagine I was already sitting there but was doing nothing. >>; Better yet, imagine I was hanging around there as vapour. ^^
*reforms and sits... somewhere >>;*
*listens attentively*
...Wait, plain water?! I'm not going to have to use myself as an ingredient, am I?

Maybe in an emergency, but I doubt it for this class.

[shadow=purple,left,300]Yeah, this class doesn't count as an emergency. XD I'll talk about cauldrons and stirring rods next, and we'll skip the history and go straight to practical stuff. [/shadow]

*plays with bottle* *looks up and drops in pocket* 'Kay, sounds good... *glances at MGA* I dunno...maybe some magic-infused water might be good for a potion.

[shadow=purple,left,300]Depends on the kind of potion you're brewing, really. ^_^ Cauldrons can be made of almost any material, provided that it is sturdy, as magic-resistant and fire-resistant as can be, and does not interfere with whatever is being brewed inside. That's why we never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER garnish or paint cauldrons. EVER. And we always make sure they're clean after every potion we make, yes. ^_^ Stirring rods are the same, actually. And they should not react with whatever potion you're stirring. They should not be too short so that they can sink straight to the bottom of your cauldron, or too long so that you can poke me from the other end of the classroom. XD The ideal length is...well, just long enough not to fall into your cauldron when you leave it in there. Not that that's a good idea. And they should be clean. *nods* Yeah. Okay, boring part's done. Then when you're all done with notes, I can shove this blackboard aside. [/shadow]

*measures cauldron with clean ruler and gets a clean stirring rod long enough for cauldron*
...Do we have to do anything about the bactieria in the air?

[shadow=purple,left,300]Nah, bacteria don't usually pose a really serious problem. And we have our ways of remedying situations like that, don't we?[/shadow]

*finishes jotting things down and starts talking to no one in particular*
I don't think what the rod or cauldron is made of matters too much most of the time, so long as it doesn't erode, dissolve, melt, break off, collect ingredients on the surface, or any similar thing while in the potion. Though I've heard there are a few potions where the material of the instruments used has an effect. They're usually for more complicated stuff, though.

[shadow=purple,left,300]That's true, Omni. ^_^ But yes, these are only the basics, after all. Now that the boring part's over, I want you all to grab a cauldron and a stirring rod. [/shadow]

[shadow=purple,left,300]MGA, this isn't Transfiguration class. XDDDD But what the heck. Anyway...okay, you've got your stirring rods and cauldrons. ;D Grab a book from that shelf to your right. That's where I keep the really easy recipes and the instructions for potions that are least likely to blow up and kill us all. XD Choose a potion to create, and if you need help, I'll be here. I'll check your work afterwards. ^_^ Be sure that whatever you pick can be made in an hour or less. This is just a random test to see how well you can do so far. Actually, this is another way of saying that Kat is a very lazy teacher. XDDDDD[/shadow]
