Amika chewed on one finger as she thought. 'I knew that Fiona was no good...'

"I feel like I'm wasting your time," started Dayna, a bit hesitating. "I think I should go off and leave you to your things." she added, and walked off in another direction. She stopped at a stream, fairly far from where the others were. She lied down on her stomach, looking at the running water, trying not to think about what Fiona had done to her for the time being.

What are you waiting for? If you want to find out what's wrong, go comfort her! Look. I DON' want t'comfort 'er. Well don't you want to help her? NO! I don' wan' anythin' t'do with 'er atall! I want t'get back t'me ship and get on with me life! So wha' if 'er memories are mixed up? She's a preteen, these things 'appen! I'll be a landlubber if it didn' 'appen t'me at an earlier age! Well, maybe it's more than that. I collapsed near Fiona, now when near Fiona Dayna's having problems. There's probably a connection more than just hormones! Don't you feel sympathy? I did. 20 minutes ago. Since then I've listened t'er whine 'n babble 'bout all 'er troubles. Look. There's a crew 50-strong lootin' a town not too far from 'ere. ME crew. Why aren't I ther with'm? 'Cause I'm wastin' me time tryin' to comfort some ... female! I just want t'get back to me life! Fine you insufferable little brat. I'm hardly insufferable, nor little, nor a brat. Bei'n raised by pirates, th'only girl? Yeah, fer sur- I give up.
Bej walked over to Dayna, slowly and quietly. Dayna?

Dayna looked around. "Hm?"

Dayna? Are you okay now that that stupid primate is gone? Or, at least, over there? Beej inclined her head towards where Andra was standing.
Ye do know I heard that, do ye? I choose who I speak to. Of course I know. Why else would I say something like that if you were unable to hear me? Hmmmm, lemme think, b'cause ye're a jerk that thinks I'm scum? Yes, but why would I tell someone else that without telling you? It's none of their buisness if it's not yours. Really, why would you expect me to do such a thing? Ugh. N'ver mind.

Amika walked lightly over to near where Dayna was. She noticed the cat near the girl, and said softly to the cat, 'Hello, cat... I am afraid I do not know your name... I am better at talking to animals than people, though.' But she squared her shoulders and walked over to Dayna. She asked, 'Can you remember anything of ... just your old life? Or can you not tell the difference between the true memories and the false?'

I'm fine...and please don't say she's a primate. Just because she doesn't feel like helping me, doesn't mean she's a mean old witch or something. Dayna replied to Beej.
"I can't really tell the true from the false," she said to Amika. "but there are some that are clearer than others."

Dange walkes over Dayna and sits down next to her. "I know how you feel. It must be really confusing and frustrating. Right?" Dange says

Dayna nodded. "It's hard to try and sort things out when you can't even figure out who you are anymore..."

Dange pats her on the back. "You'll be all right."

Dayna sighed. "Thanks," she said.
Suddenly, Dayna felt very, very tired, barely able to stay awake. She lay her head on her crossed arms, and without knowing, she fell asleep.
((The following is all a dream.))
Dayna found herself on her knees, encircled by darkness and fog. Faded images of the memories she had mixed up in her mind were appearing and dissapearing. Dayna tried to get back up, but she couldn't. She noticed a hand, covered mostly by a fingerless glove, reach out to her. The arm and body the hand was attached to was all hidden by fog. Dayna grabbed the hand, and found herself pulled into another location.
She was now in the middle of a village, and she was now 7. In front of her were the woman with black hair and brown eyes and man with brown hair and blue eyes. The image of her parents started moving away from Dayna, so she started to run after it. She ran and ran, but never seemed to catch up to it. She kept yelling, "Mommy! Daddy! No!", until they dissapeared into a gigantic fire. Dayna fell to her knees, crying. The setting changed into darkness, and before Dayna floated a small, purple jewel...

How do you like that? She seems completely unfazed that I'm a cat. That's odd. When I firs' met ye, I w's in shock. Then I tried t'kill ye!Stop smiling. I do not have fond memories of being held high in your hands while you said "Aye, 'tis a sign that there's some'it foul among us, 't'is! Me mateys, we've got t'band t'geth'r t'berid it from me crew! Why, when we overthrow ye old captain of yers, th'cat'll disappear! 'Tis a SIGN, me lads! How'v'r, I say make it walk th'plank fer now!" and the crew chanted "Throw i'!"Well, 's'not like ye wen' ov'rboard...I was close. But naturally, when you make a fool of yourself, the captain's there to see it.But we n'v'r would've been friends if we hadn't been in th'cell together...But I never would've been down there if not for you!I could say th'same thing 'bout ye, ye know! But I talked us out of it!I'd wager me life it was me 'n not ye, ye stupid li'l feline. It was you who got us in there, for sure. I got us out.We got out b'cause I was a member of th'crew! An' then ye kinda joined! That's all!Hardly, my friend.Anyway, back on topic. What'd she say?She stood up for you. If I were a human, I'd roll my eyes right now.See? So much fer me bei'n a 'stupid primate'!Back on topic ... what the heck is she doing?Dayna was lying with her head on her arms, though judging from the expression on her face, she might as well be writhing in a pit of snakes and fire. ((Wow, plot advancement there...: )

((Still a dream...)) Dayna looked at the jewel, until it started creating blinding white light. Dayna covered her face with her arms, and then woke up. ((End of dream.)) Dayna opened her eyes, and slowly lifted her head up. She didn't look around, but she felt someone watching them. Indeed, there was someone watching behind a tree. I just hope it worked... she thought(the person watching, not Dayna. Ph33r teh confusingness ).

Dayna nodded. "Yes...it was wierd..." She looked around and added, "I feel like there's someone watching us..."
