(well... I guess anything goes, really, as long as it's within the general rules of roleplaying and the board. First RP here, so be kind. ^^)
Years ago, it had been one of the most prosperous mining towns in the country. Now, it was little more than a scar blighting the lush greenery at the foot of Mt. Agua. Meav had never seen anything like it, and was reluctant to enter. She referred once again to a scrap of paper that looked all the worse for wear, and sighed.
“I dunno, Amber. It says this is it, but it just doesn’t seem… you know.”
The finch resting on top of her head ruffled his golden brown feathers irritably, suitably miffed at the substantial amount of wood-dust invading his tidy plumage.
“Oh, don’t be such a killjoy. We came this far, didn’t we? But we’re here, now, and…”
Meav bit her lip and began walking, trying to keep from looking at the skeletons of dead buildings, wrapped delicately with morning glory vines. She stopped in front of one of the few houses that was still intact, and squinted at it.
“Two…six…three…” she mumbled, brushing away the dust to reveal tarnished silver numbers above the door, “but I need 2631.”
She thought for a moment, and bent down, pushing leaves away from the doorstep. When she rose, there was a silver “one” in her hand.
“2631,” she laughed, and pushed open the door. Amber chirped unhappily, flapping onto a branch outside. A shaft of light flooded in from the opened portal, illuminating the dust winding lazily about the single room. She stepped in… and froze.
A low, penetrating hiss came from the space on the floor where she had almost put her foot. As she watched, a black spider the size of a chair seat reared up, it’s front legs waving angrily. A second hiss came from across the room, and the silhouette of another one dropped down across the dirty window. In less than a minute, there were five of them, crawling from beneath toppled furniture and cracks in the walls. Meav didn’t move, she couldn’t…

Aerin plopped down on the ground, sick of it all. Moments later, a large dog, of mixed decent, came and sat beside her. 'Why're you still here, Meora?' asked Aerin, brushing tears from her eyes. 'I'm here because I would never leave you, Aerin, no matter if you think everyone else has,' said Meora, the dog, turning her grey eyes on Aerin. Ghost eyes, Aerin had always called them. 'Well, Meora, I'm glad you're here, even if no one else is,' said Aerin, hugging the dog.

Meav backed up into the doorway, and the spiders came closer. She looked around for a weapon, any weapon... and came up short. She clenched her eyes shut, and lashed out at the spider, hurling it into the wall. At the sight of their fallen comrade, the other four attacked, and of course, Meav found this to be the opportune moment to trip and fall flat on her rump.
"GET OFF!" she screamed, kicking them away unsuccessfully, unaware of a thin gold chain slipping out of her pocket...
Suddenly, the spiders froze, as if listening. Indeed, Meav could just make out the sound of a high-pitched whine cutting the now silent air. In a moment, all four of the creatures had skittered off to the dark edges of the house.
Meav blinked, and looked down next to her, scooping up the gold chain.
"Oh, it's just you, then... interesting," she muttered, tucking it back in her pocket.
"Ow!"
She withdrew her hand immediately, and saw two neat puncture marks on her wrist, Meav shoved her wrist in her mouth, whimpering.
"Come on Amber," she said in a muffled voice, "We'll come back later... with a blowtorch. Gaw, I hope this doesn't get infected."
Meav was so absorbed in her own thoughts, she didn't bother looking where she was going, and tripped over what appeared to be a big, furry rock with grey eyes...
((Oh yeah! I forgot...))
Meav Ta Andoren
Age: 14
Appearance: Medium length dark curls, green eyes, olive skin. Wears whatever she has the money to buy.
Personality: Not as mature as she could be, yet not so much as she appears, Meav can come off as very naive. But when she's not showing off (or being her naturally clumsy self), she is a quick thinker and a cunning strategist. Just remember never to turn your back on her, and you've got a friend for life.

Have to continue my descs first... Physical Description (Meora): Very large, around three feet tall at the shoulder. Mostly black, with white paws and chest. Has a sheperd-y/wolfish look about her, but has a very thick, heavy coat. For Aerin, 2 more things... Nickname: Aeri <Ay-er-ee> Pronunciation of Name: Aerin <Ay-er-in> Ok, now to RP... finally. Aerin jumped up, eyes blazing. 'Why, if you mean to hurt my dog--' she began, voice breaking in rage. But Meora quickly got up and ran over to Aerin, pushing her wet nose into Aeri's hand. Aerin glanced down at her companion, and her gaze softened. She whispered, 'Ok, Meora... I'm sorry.' To Meav she said, 'Sorry. I tend to lose control of my temper sometimes. I'm Aerin, and this is Meora.' Suddenly, a small watchlike device on her wrist beeped loudly. Aerin looked for a moment like part of the ceiling had fallen on her, then dashed off. Over her shoulder, she called, 'I'll be back in a second!! Wait here!!' Meora sped after her. Aerin reached the gates of her home city. She had gotten so mad at her family, at everyone... she had nearly forgotten to check in for the hour. If she didn't check in... Aerin sped up to the nearby guard. A sign near the checkpoint said, 'Give your last name and ID number. No talking or cutting in line. You may be denied entry to Galmorth. Do not question the decision of the Masters.' Aerin had seen the signs ever since she could read, and thought nothing of them. She waited in line as usual. A few minutes later, it was her turn. Nonchalantly, she went up to the guard. 'Haldiri; 745683,' she said. The guard typed the number into his small keypad, and waited for a moment. Then he said, 'Denied.' 'What?? But... I've lived here all my life!! My family is in there! My house!! C-call my mom! My dad! Reama Haldiri; 745682!! Mareik Haldiri; 745681!! You have to let me in! This city is my home!!' The guard said in a cold voice, 'You were denied entry, 745683. Do not question the guards.' 'But... but why was I denied entry? I was fine at the last check, only an hour ago!!!' 'Your name and number were struck from the records, 745683. To everyone in Galmorth, you no longer exist.' Aerin stood frozen, tears pouring down her pale cheeks. Then she ran, Meora galloping to catch up. In her sadness, she nearly forgot about the girl. She went back to her, and asked, trying to hide her sobs, 'So why were you here in the first place? You look a little... scared.'

Meav blinked. She had only been here a few minutes, and already she was confused.
"Well," she began in a wary British lilt, "my name's Meav, and I'm really sorry about your dog... I'm a bit clumsy, y'see, and... you're crying. What's the matter?"
She moved forward, looking concerned.

Aerin coughed. 'Well... it's... really hard to explain. Mostly, I just found out I don't have a home anymore, and technically, I don't even exist.' Her hand moved to Meora's gigantic head for comfort, and she stroked her companion's ears.

Meav immediately took on her determined nature.
"You can come with me, then! I don't have a home, either... well, I did, but..."
She stopped, trying to find the right words.
"This is one of the old Aharian villages. And that's why I'm here, because I'm the last of the race after... you know. My sister Rynn and I escaped, got to the mountains, but They found us anyway. Rynn saved my life, hid me behind a bush, and They murdered her right in front of my eyes. But before... it happened, she gave me a letter, told me to come here and find some thing that was sacred to the late Aharian race. But then, the Masters will probably find me before that happens."
Meav showed her the gold chain.
"This was in the envelope with the note. It's one of our Guardians... that didn't do figs during the Revolution. And I need a bandage..."
She shoved her wrist in her mouth again as the puncture marks started to bleed again.

Aerin reached into one of the small packs on Meora's back and pulled out a thick bandage. 'Here you go,' she said. 'So, we both don't have a home... where do we go, then?'

Meav laughed as she wrapped the bandage around her wrist.
"Anywhere we want, I suppose. But..."
She bit her lip.
"You still have a family, don't you?"

'Sort of... they follow the rules of Galmorth to a tee, though. They have to... both dad and mum are big names in the city. So no matter how much they love me, which I'm not sure if they do anymore, they have to keep saying and pretending that I don't exist, and I never did exist. I don't know why I was refused, but I want to find out.'

Smiling encouragingly, Meav ruffled Amber's feathers.
"Considering there's nowhere else for me to go now, there's no good reason for me and Amby not to help you. And even if there was a good reason, I'd help you anyway. I've lived most of my life with people turning their noses up at me when I needed something... I couldn't imagine doing that to anyone else."
Meav turned, glancing over her shoulder at Aerin and Meora.
"You did say Galmorth, right?"

'Yes, but... when the people of Galmorth have decided something, they don't usually change their minds about it...'

Meav giggled, fingering the gold necklace gently.
"Don't worry... I'm good at making people change their minds."
