Seems like TNT is making an effort to publish more poems, which is nice. At 30 poems, this is one of the biggest galleries I've seen.
I went ahead and submitted a poem for Gnorbu Day. In the past few months, my experience of getting constantly rejected had put me off regular submitting, but this latest win gives me hope that there may be room for me again.

Congratulations to everyone who got published recently!
I have only returned to Neopets in November, but so far, I've made great experiences with the poetry competition. It feels like Stone is trying to include as many submissions as possible, so I think the chances of getting in are pretty decent.

I'm really surprised that the contest judge edits poems now! For my Kacheek Day poem, they changed my American spelling to British (armored to armoured; jewelry to jewellery). I feel...grateful and honored? Like, they actually read through my poem and had the time to make changes to it I continued reading the poems and then stumbled on one that had spelling errors like Theif and Skieth. Now I'm wondering why that wasn't edited... I'm so confused.

Congratulations to all who got in!
I really liked your poem, Azusa! You fit the descriptions into the rhyme and meter really well and really drew me into them, speaking as someone who's generally not great with aesthetic descriptions! Makes me feel like I'm really watching a royal coronation ceremony.
The fact that you had words converted to British spelling but other typos went through makes me think that maybe your changes were automated, like they had a script with a list of words to convert.

You're right! I'd thought of testing it out on the next poem update but my STC entry had an American spelling changed into British too. Why is that though? Isn't Neopets an American website? And thank you so much for the positive review! I'm not good with aesthetic descriptions myself and with the STC being slow on updates, I decided to practise writing on the PC instead (LOL). I still think I have lots to improve on though; I personally felt my poem wasn't descriptive enough...

I still think I have lots to improve on though; I personally felt my poem wasn't descriptive enough... I wouldn't worry too much about why things don't get in, honestly. I've tried and tried and tried - and failed - to see any pattern. It feels to me like the current judge is juggling a lot of different duties and just doesn't have the time to go through entries with the care they deserve. (Not the judge's fault, just... overall lack of resources allocated to the Neopets site by NetDragon.) As players, literally all we can do is spam entries until something hits. Sorry for the cynicism but that's basically what the site is these days. That said, I did put some soul into this poem which didn't get in for Buzz Day. I was quite sad about it not getting in. I decided to repurpose it for a hundredth gallery submission, though. If it still fails to get in then whatever, I'll resubmit it for Buzz Day next year assuming the site is still around. Or resubmit for a random day I guess. Hundreds of Lights
A flicker of gold in the night-- Swinging softly on its iron hinge, "Lampwyck's Lights Fantastic." Inside, endless geometries of light, Red, green, gold, white, Some round, some angled, All warm and inviting.
In the early days, Lampwyck the Buzz Lit the way for explorers. When everyone was huddled and lost In a night so dark that your very body Was like a dream, or a story, Something you could hear but not see-- Lampwyck showed a way forward.
Every flicker was like a breath, As each explorer held up their flame. Hundreds, hundreds of shimmering globes, Strung together above the pits of death, Clinging on, moving up-- and down again On the treacherous paths. Nobody dared give up hope.
After Moltara opened to the world, Lampwyck's creations became ordinary, Something a tourist's child might dangle On their arm in a bustling alley. But the Moltarans remember the old, Old days when light was scarce, And the merest candle-flicker was glory.

Yayayayay!!! This makes me so happy, you have no idea ;u; Congrats, everyone!!! I see some other familiar names too O: Birdy Long time no see! So glad to see you participating again. RielCZ I loved your playful way of talking about how the creative contests got randomly re-routed to Roo Island on the new map. xD Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff) That was a really cool experimental poem. I liked it a lot! Re: prizes, I've learned my lesson. Younger-me was too naive and got taken advantage of too much. xP This time I'll just hold on to my assets instead of selling to the first person who expresses interest.

Congratulations everyone who got into the 2600th special! I'd thought of testing it out on the next poem update but my STC entry had an American spelling changed into British too. Why is that though? Isn't Neopets an American website? The original creators of Neopets are British, so British spellings are used throughout the site (e.g. Grey Paint Brush, Defence Magic). I didn't know they changed it in user works, but after reading this I found these changes in my last NT story too. I don't think this was done in older user entries, but if they're doing it now, it would make sense for it to be converted automatically. It does feel a little odd but I guess they want to be consistent?

Congrats to everyone who got into today's gallery!
I'll just dump my rejected Uni poem here because I already submitted it twice. xP I'll make a note to resubmit again for the next random gallery (Apr 6), but in case I forget or it gets passed over again, here it is. Hopefully someone out there can enjoy it~
The Waitress at Kelp by swordlilly
In Maraqua where the corals sway And JubJubs in bubbles merrily play, A Goldy dances before a shell shop, Behind which glimmers the next tourist-stop.
Inside this pearly place called Kelp, The Uni waitress sails forth to help. "What may I get for you today?" she asks, Smiling and bobbing as she does her tasks.
Neatly adorned in black and white, Her horn polished till it sparkles bright, Her lovely mane smoothed back from her face, The Uni moves with speed and grace.
She knows the menu inside and out, And can offer suggestions when you're in doubt. But when the restaurant closes at nine, And she's done cleaning the last plate fine...
Her gaze shifts up to the dates on the wall, And she fills in another box with a scrawl. Another day of work is over and done. Another small sum of Neopoints won.
UPDATE: I resubmitted this poem with an additional stanza and it finally got in today. :'D (July 20)

I have another rejected poem to share, if that's alright ;u; This one was for Yurble Day. But it looks like the gallery was huuuge, so, I'm happy for everyone who did get in.
When Yurbles Play by swordlilly
When Yurbles play, they can get rowdy. Their curly ears flare upward, And their manes become bristling rivulets. They roll and tumble loudly, Whirlwinds of claws and fur.
At mealtimes they are sweet and cheerful. They have hearty appetites. They never nibble, but take huge bites, Making noises with each mouthful. In minutes, their plates shine clean.
Yurbles can be challenging to work with. Altador's janitor is known for his temper, And so is Team Moltara's defender. But Yurbles are smart, you must admit, And passionate. You can always trust them.

Another rejected poem, for Ixi Day:
My Ixi by swordlilly
My Ixi and I live together In a deep part of the Haunted Woods. After she puts on her robes each day, She tosses me some foods.
My Ixi spends most of her time Stirring mysterious brews, Reading aloud from her black spellbook, Tapping with her wrinkled shoes.
My Ixi doesn't mind when I scuff around On the creaky wooden floor, Nibbling random things she spills, And looking up for more.
My Ixi lets me wander free In the swampy brush nearby. When I get bored, she's always there To wash me and rub me dry.
My Ixi sometimes has visitors, But mostly it's just her and me. I am proud to be Sophie's Meowclops, And proud to call her my Ixi.
