Xaiver finally looked up from shooing morph out of his cocoa cup. "I'm Xaiver. The infernal pink blob is morph." he nodded.
Morph grined in a silly fashion and bounced around the fire place wall for a few moments.

"Okay," smiles Laena Shoni. "I'm Laena Shoni--just call me Shoni. I'm on my way back to Tarensdale, a small sea town in the southeast, from visiting an old friend of mine. You?"
Shoni sips some coffee stares down into her cup.

"Tarensdale... the name sounds familiar, but I'm not sure where I heard it before..." Cyra searched her memory in vain for she couldn't remember why Tarensdale rang a bell. "As for me, I just travel the kingdom, searching the old wise wizard, Aruii." She shook her left wrist, showing a bracelet of two snakes one made of gold, the other made of silver. "This was a present from the Prince of the Magi."
Cyra giggled, happy with her own destiny. "He said I should find Aruii and show him this bracelet," she continued, playing with bracelet. "It is a sign for the wizard to know I would be a good student." She giggled again. "A sorceress! Me! From all people, I always thought I was the last in the list of possible magical beings... Well, the gods know what they do; if they picked me to be the first with magical powers in all of my family's generations, they must have some kind of reason!"
Cyra's voice was innocent, and she talked about her recently discovered magical powers as if she was a child who had just gotten a new, perfect toy. But she knew those powers carried great responsabilities with them, and she was willing to take them too. In a sense, the woman was an innocent child, which could be due to the ruralty of where she came from, but if one would look deeper, maturity and responsability were settled in the young woman's heart.
"Do you have any sort of magical powers?" Cyra asked, curiously.

"I guess you could call them that," Shoni replied pensively. "Although we call what most call 'magic' 'Zirae' in Tarensdale. I can see deeply into people's pasts, and occasionally their thoughts, but the Zirae isn't as strong as to see them all the time. I can heal--but I cannot heal myself.
"I trained with the sort of witch woman in my town: Arlam. Then, I was sent off to develop my Zirae, and although I have technically graduated from that, I am still learning."
Shoni smiled.
"As for why you've heard of Tarensdale--I don't know. It's a very, very small town--one of those places where you know everything about everyone. It's elvish, and so my family has been a sort of outcast; somewhere in our blood lines, a long, long time ago, there is just the faintest trace of something other than elf, and we do not know what it is. Anyway, I wish you good luck in finding Aruii."
Shoni took another sip of coffee, then tossed her head.
"Have you any idea of where he is?"

"You can see into people's past?" Cyra said, surprised and a bit shocked. "That's something powerful! But definitly not as dangerous as reading thoughts... I guess no one is safe around you, eh?" Cyra chucked.
"I am pretty positive I heard that name somewhere before." Cyra took a sip of her beer, letting her eyes wander through the room a bit. "Elvish, you say? Well, there shouldn't be many left in there - the Elves seem to be everywhere but in their home towns these days!" She let out, gesturing at the crowd of Elves in the Inn. "No offence," she quickly said, afraid that she could have hurt Shoni's feelings.
"The Prince of the Magi gave me some hints as to where his location might be, but he was vage - a little bit too vage, in my opinion," Cyra said, rolling her eyes. She took a map from a little hidden pocket in her dress and opened it on the table. "He gave me this and said I should walk north. He said I should avoid the Bloody Valley and all the orcs that live there, and I most definitly will, but that's all he said..."
Cyra put the map away and took another sip of her beer. "Anyway, I've got plenty of time to look for him. Right now, I just want to relax a bit and enjoy a drink or two."
The human was about to say something else, but loud voices and the sound of a wooden chair breaking diverted her attention.
Two men, obviously drunk had gotten into a fight becase of a game of cards and were now drawing their swords, preparing for a bloody fight.
"Uh oh... This doesn't look good..." Cyra observed, noticing the enraged looks the men were giving each other. She was a bit scared, as violence was not her thing and she wasn't comfortable using weapons of any sort.

Jan smiles as she watches Xaiver's small pink blob take a break from bouncing around the fire and return to the young man's cocoa cup.
"That is a strange creature, of a kind I've only seen once in Kenilli, near the Eastern Shores. Are you from there?"

"No, it doesn't," Shoni breathed.
Quickly, she looked at the clock that hung on the wall.
"I guess I'd better be getting some rest, anyway," she said with a slight shake of her head. "By the way...no offence was taken. Hope to see you in the morning...."
Shoni slipped away.

Jan's attention was distracted by the sounds of the fight at the next table, which was getting worse by the minute.
"You cheater! You rigged that game, you did!" one bellowed.
"Rigged it? I'll show you--" The second man's fist sent the first flying into a wooden table; the dishes and tablecloth slid to the floor with a horrendous crash as the table tipped over.
Jan's hand curled around her walking stick.

"No," Xaiver sighed, staring at Morph, who had retreated to his pant's pocket. "I'm from the local village. My father was a scientist there, and a genuis at that. He made all sorts of inventions, but the villagers acused him of witchcraft. One night they attacked our house, and I was the only one that escaped, my mother and father were put on trial, and hung the following day. This little blob, Morph, was the only thing that was salvaged from my father's lab, and he insits on travling with me. I suppose, in a way, he's a part of me."
Xaiver sighed and sipped more of the cocoa, the story being partly true. Morph gurggled again.

A boy, around twelve years old comes into the bar.
He's rather quiet as he looks at all the folk around him. He takes a seat two seats over from Xaiver.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Jan murmured. It seemed that there were increasingly more sad stories these days; everyone had lost someone or something they loved.
For a moment her mind wandered back to an old memory: lying in the long green grasses of her homevalley and listening to the crickets chirp in the background as she looked up at the stars... she shook herself out of it. Don't think about what you left, she reminded herself firmly. That life's over.
On the other side of the room, the man thrown across the table appears to be unconscious. The victor is celebrating with a large tankard of brown ale, slurping it rather disgustingly.

Xaiver nods slowly wishing to forget that, and thinking of other things as he continues to stare into the fire, while morph continues to bounce around the fire place area.

oO I guess I'm late.
Aeri sighs as her eyes look upon the tavern. She hesitates to open the door, finally opening it quickly, looking at the other people surprisingly.
"Erm... hi?" she stutters, looking from one person to the next.

Xaiver gives a small nod as morph goes flying into Aeri's head.
"Hello. Morph! knock that off!" he sighed as he glared coldly at the pink blob.
