"What are these elements you keep talking about, Norina?" Leslie asked.
"Hmm," the Fae scribbled invisible words on a rock. "Let's see: water, fire, earth, air, spirit, light, darkness, time, and song (which is really just sound). Each one has many facets. I suppose rainbow may be an aspect of light, or even spirit. Perhaps darkness as well, or air?" Norina looked confused.

"I know a way. I just need a tree to see...." Spectrum spys a tree a little ways off. He concentrates. "Hmm....a let's see....." Suddenly a white-hot beam of light shoots from in front of Spectrum and disintigrates the tree. Off hand, I'd say rainbow's an aspect of light."

"Describe your personality," Norina told her. "Sorry, I know its kind of a hypocritical question, but it'll definitely help me find your element. In a way, you choose it with your characteristics. Different elements are attracted to different traits."
"Wait a minute, what about me?" Leslie demanded, "How did I get to be part mermaid or whatever? Water is tranquil, tenacious, and forgiving. I'm sarcastic, troubled, grudge-holding, unpredictable, moody, and downright bad."
Norina looked amused. "You're forgetting the different aspects of water. For example, look at the sea. It croons a lullaby one moment and murders an entire ship's crew the next. Unpredictable, like you said. And don't think that you're all bad. You're tenacious, too. Look at all you've survived."

Norina looks bemused. "How would you describe yourself?" she asks Spectrum. To Hannah she says, "I think you might be fire, or earth."

"Actually, I don't know that either. I think I may be either Earth or Spirit, whatever that is, but I don't beleive in souls.

Norina shook her head. "I don't think you are spirit, especially if you don't believe in souls. Are you poetic, observant, sensitive, a writer? Do you find comfort in quiet reflection? Are you empathetic or sympathetic? Can you relate well to others?"

"I do call souls spirits, however. I don't really call myself poetic, I am somewhat a good observer, what kind of sensitive do you mean, I write so I don't go too crazy. I prefer quietness, and I don't know the answer to the last 2 questions because I don't know what they mean."

Norina considers this. "Yes, Spectrum, that helps. You're 'usually happy but can get angry quickly.' Think of the sun's light. It brighten's our earth, but can blind those who look closely. Light symbolizes happiness, a conquering of sorrow. That fits you well."
She paces, considering Hannah's questions. "Do you feel as if you can put yourself in others' places, feel what they feel? You could very well be spirit. Odd..."
