Lulu had a feeling of panic at the missing kitsune growing in her stomach. After Ginz had made the brave decision to volunteer, she decided it was probably best she did too. She couldn't let the Celestial and the mage go on their own now, could she?
"I'll go with you," she said, trying to keep her voice even.
Adjusting her tie so it was looser around her neck, she stepped forward to stand behind the robe-clad Ginz.

Ginz was relieved to have Lulu standing next to her. It gave her more confidence. She wanted to smile to her, but she wasn't sure it was appropiate on the occassion.
"I don't think it'll be dangerous just to look around," Ginz commented at Fj0rd, but the truth was the mansion and the tales around it creeped her out a bit. In any case, if something had happened to Ikkin, it was worth it.

Lupehunter was not the type of person to attend fancy parties, but he thought that it was wise to attend just in case something odd occurred there. After all, he had heard of those rumours about the mansion being haunted, but he didn't quite believe them.
When the power went out, he could see guests walking around blindly thanks to his wolf like eyes, but he was unable to distinguish who the guests were. He definitely saw someone bump into another guest near the snack table, but he couldn't see who they were. Besides he didn't know a lot of people, which made it a bit harder.
"Great, just bloody great," he muttered. "It would have been nice if I had cat vision."
Once the power returned, he quickly scanned the room to see if anything was amiss. However, he heard shouts that Ikkin was missing, he knew something was wrong, so he ran over to where she was last seen and began knocking on the floor to determine if there was a trap door. There wasn't one where she was standing, he concluded.
"No trapdoor, Nova. However, there's one more test that I can do," he said before transforming into a wolf. Even though he did not know Ikkin, he was aware her scent was going to be different than the other guests attending the party. It took him a few seconds to located it, but he could only located the scent where she had been standing.
"Well, that's odd. I could only find her scent right where she had been standing, nothing else. If someone kidnapped her, I would have found it as well, but there's nothing to indicate that. Something's not right."he said after changing back into his human form. Secretly, he wondered if the rumours were indeed true.

"Just think about it," Fj0rd told Ginz. "In all those scary movies, it's like, 'Oh, I wonder what that creepy noise is. I'll go look in the basement!'" She shrugged. "And then they die."
She hesitated, then added, "But if you guys are going, I guess I'd better go too. I just wish I wasn't wearing this stupid dress."

"You're not helping to lighten the mood, Fj0rd," Lulu said, shifting uncomfortably from foot-to-foot. "Besides. We're not going to do the whole 'let's split up and look for clues' thing. We'll stick together, it'll be fine."
She looked around, hoping people hadn't taken what the other girl had said to heart. She really didn't just the four of them poking about in this creepy mansion. She was relieved when Fj0rd agreed to come with them.
"Well, who else is coming then? This is Ikkin we're talking about! She's probably just wondered off, but we have to find her."

Celestial was glad that people were volunteering. She did not want to go alone in this mansion which she had to admit, gave her the creeps. However, it was what Fj0rd said that scared yet. But she reassured herself with knowledge that if things got hairy, they had a better chance than those in horror movies.
"Fj0rd, we are all very Genre Savvy I'm sure and won't split up or look in dark places without a light. Besides, even if there is something there, we have what the horror movie people didn't: most of us will be able to fight. We aren't your typical horror movie victims" Celestial said with a little smile on her face.
"And if you want that dress trimmed down, just ask" she added as an afterthought.

Zylaa had shown up at the party in a costume, although it seemed like she was one of the only ones. Anyway, it was formal enough: she had on a long, flowy black dress with sparkling silvery spiderwebs, plus bat wings that fell right over her shoulder blades and a black raccoon-like mask. It was a nice combination of spooky and fancy, she thought.
Of course, once the lights went off, lights went on, and Ikkin had disappeared, she realized that this still wasn't the best thing to go searching in.
"I'll go with the search group," she said. "Celes is right, we're not going to split up one by one and go in the basement without lights." Then a though struck her, and she shivered, but said it anyway. "But Ikkin managed to disappear with all of us around, didn't she? I don't know how much numbers will matter," she said, trying to repress her growing anxiety. She clutched her glass of punch tighter, as if hoping that would help.

Really Kitty thought. Just because it's Halloween people get all freaked out when Ikkin tries to go to the bathroom and hits the wrong light switch?
"Halloween's for sissys," she said calmly as she walked by a frantic group of people. "Any one who believes that something supernatural is more likely to occur today than any other day, is wrong."
Kitty stopped and turned back to the people who weren't listening to her as she picked up a snack. "Anyways, did we really want her around? If she's not in the bathroom, and something horrible has happened, someone will get promoted to be mod."

"Ninja aren't very used to unarmed combat," Fj0rd said. "Or at least, I'm not. I don't know how much help a shorter dress would be." She shrugged. "If someone had an extra kunai or something, though, I'd appreciate the loan."

Craig finished cleaning up his spilled punch from the ballroom floor. He dropped the shards of his glass along with a soppy mess of black napkins into a nearby waste basket. As he wiped his hands dry, he overheard Celestial say, "Perhaps we could have a few people look around the Manor for her, just in case."
Craig raised an eyebrow. He wasn't planning on taking any unnecessary risks tonight. The NTWF parties were notorious for mystery and danger, two things he generally avoided at all costs.
Ginz, Lulu, Fjord, and Zylaa gravitated toward Celestial, and the women began discussing the pros and cons of setting off into the dark reaches of the manor. Craig wandered in the other direction, to where Nova and Rider were talking quietly.
"I don't have a clue what's going on," he admitted, leaning with a hand on the long table. "Do you guys really think this is a kidnapping? Who would do that? At a Halloween party, of all things."

Celestial shivered when Zylaa spoke. What she said was true, too true. Ikkin was a competent mage and fighter but she disappeared when there were people all around. But there was no light, at least none that they managed to produce. This time they will go with lights. But heck, she disappeared here and if they stood around then they were just as likely to disappear.
"Zylaa, if we stay here what guarantee is there that we won't disappear? If I had to disappear, I would rather do so while trying to find Ikkin. Better to die a...nevermind" Celestial said, trailing off a little at the end as she realised that the word 'hero' did not apply to her. Nevertheless, she was ready to risk her life for Ikkin, strangely enough.
You chaotic neutrals, always morally ambiguous Overlord said as he landed on her shoulder. I figured you would need me he added.
It was good to have the Weewoo around. Celestial felt calm with his firm mind in her reach. She was going to need him behind her if anything happened.
"If someone had an extra kunai or something, though, I'd appreciate the loan." Fj0rd said. Celestial reached down and lifted her robe to expose her left boot, she took the dragon dagger out of a concealed sheath. Mafia Wars taught her to never go anywhere unarmed. She handed the dagger for Fj0rd.
"It isn't a kunai but I hope it will do" the Dragon Mage said. "Now everyone, shall we go? If any of you want to drop out, now is your last chance"

"Really? A kunai?" Kitty asked Fj0rd. "If this house is as 'haunted' as everyone believes, is a sword going to help you kill the ghost?" Kitty walked past the group assembled and straight into the basement.
About five steps down into the darkness, Kitty started hearing some strange noises? Should she have been so cocky as to go down here alone. Well she couldn't go back now and look like a scardy cat.

Zylaa didn't have a sharp pointy object on her either, so she quickly walked over and grabbed the shiniest-looking knife from the buffet table. Hopefully it would be enough to summon some weasels in a crisis. Whatever good that would do.
Then Kitty, in an effort to prove her skepticism, walked down into the basement.
"All in favor of rushing after Kitty, say aye," Zylaa called to the other potential search party members as she hustled towards the basement door from the table. Of course, in her dress, "hustling" was about at the same speed as power walking, but that was a start.

"No," Fj0rd said to Kittygirl's back, taking the dagger Celestial handed her, "but it'll make me feel better."
She hefted the blade, nodded her thanks to Celestial, and joined Zylaa in hurrying after Kitty.

Lulu grinned at Fj0rd and, reaching into the inside of her tux jacket, pulled out revolver. A pirate never went without theirs, surely? She open up the barrel, and the grinned disappeared as she realised it only held one bullet. She shrugged - hopefully, they wouldn't need any. She gave a small chuckle, however, when Celestial appeared to have brought a weapon, too.
"You should learn never to come to these NTWF events without a weapon," she said, "since you never know what strange things might happen."
And then Kitty thought it would be a good idea to go down to the basement. She looked in amazement as she strode confidently into it, and Lulu walked after her.
"Kitty! I don't think that that is such a great idea, what with the situation as it is!" she screamed, before shouting back at Zylaa, "aye!"
She groped around at the entrance to the basement, trying to find a light switch. When she couldn't feel it, she gave a reluctant sigh, and started jumping down the stairs, two at a time.
