Idea from Lulu - great idea BTW Here's my NaNo profile...My main problem at the moment is that I keep wanting to start *now* and not wait! I'm wondering if sketching out a plot idea somewhere would be cheating or not... Okay... targets & plans:Title: Provisionally 'Aubrise's Adventures' Plot: I've been spending the last few weeks thinking about Aubrise ( www.neopets.com/~Aubrise) so she's the only idea I've had at the moment. More...CharactersDaily target: 1,000 words + 1/11 - 1947 2/11 - 1519 Running total: 3466 words

[glow=red,2,300]Of course it's not cheating. ^_^ What, you're supposed to plan a plot and write the blasted thing in thirty days? XD You'd have to be superhuman. Or at least, you'd have to be Carrie or Fj0rd. [/glow]

Planning your plot is absolutely fine. It's if you start writing the actual thing that is considered "cheating".

Ahh, but it was an idea from Lulu from ME! And you're allowed to do ANYTHING as long as it's not writing any of the actual text.

PlotOkay, now I'm thinking I might do lots of short stories/short series-length stories about Aubrise instead of trying to make it all one long one. I think I might lose the plot if I try to make it one long story... And they can all be tied together by Aubrise telling stories to her children...um...ten years in the future....?! Aubrise in AltadorAubrise is a guest at a special event King Altador has arranged. He's gathered historians from every Neopian nation to Altador to update his citizens on what has been happening in the 1,000 years that Altador was lost. The first evening there's a dinner where we meet all the other characters (people from various parts of Neopia). Next morning she overhears two of the council members talking about someone they're worried about but she doesn't hear who. At some point, Jerdana gets kidnapped - she's stumbled on a plot to steal all of Altador's treasures. It's a mystery story with Aubrise as detective. Not sure what else is going to happen in detail yet, but Aubrise and Sekhani are going to get very sweet... And Sekhani may well propose at the end Aubrise and the Ghostly GemSet in the Haunted Woods. Aubrise and the Qasalan RiddleIn the process of rebuilding Qasala, many treasures were found buried underneath the ruined palace. Aubrise is recommended by Princess Amira to go and help Prince Jazan categorise, identify and value them. There’s a riddle in the basement that Aubrise decides to decipher which leads her on a treasure hunt. Aubrise and the Desert PrincessSet in Mentu. A Princess comes to claim her throne – sort of like Jazan. Aubrise is visiting Mentu and gets caught up in it. She figures out something isn’t right with the story the Princess is telling because she knows her history! Aubrise and the Royal VisitWhy is King Kelpbeard’s collection of treasures disappearing, and can it have anything to do with his strange visitors? Diary of a Palace GuardA Sekhani story... And something to do with faeries... Edit 1/11/06... And of course the one I decide to start with isn't in my plan! It's on Mystery Island and happens sometime after Altador. I suppose it could be running alongside the diary of a palace guard but I haven't got that far into it yet...

Hmmm... I've just finished the series I was working on, but now I seem to have lost all inspiration. Oh dear... Anyway, characters: AubriseYellow Cybunny archaeologist/historian. Expert in languages, very well-travelled. Has a bit of a thing for... SekhaniFire Tonu, Palace Guard, big, strong, sensible, a bit rough and dangerous especially when the people he loves are in danger. EmberBaby Fire Cybunny, about 4 years old. Always getting teased and/or scared by her older brother. FenukuYellow Tonu, Ember's oldest brother, about 9 years old. Likes to play at the sort of adventures his parents have told him about - fighting mummies, finding treasure, daring rescues and dramatic escapes! Two more children - A Fire Tonu and Yellow Cybunny, about 7 years old, Khamsi (boy) and Kiya (girl).

Wow, those are great pics! All of their expressions are great. They give a sense of what the characters are like.

Some dares I'm going to try to get in somewhere:Dare: Include the phrase "You ATE it?!" somewhere in your story. Extra point: The item that was eaten (or thought to be eaten, if the answer to 'you ate it' is actually 'no') was not food (and I mean, it's not considered food even remotely) Double points: The item was some type of underwear. Triple points: The character being asked the question responds "Yes". I even have an idea of who does the eating and where it happens... Tonus have funny appetites Dare: Use this conversation somewhere in your story character1 (trying to act tough): "I OWN this town!" character2: "You bought the town!??" - Bonus points: if the character actually DID buy the town. Double points: if that ends the plot. Dare: Have a character constantly changing footwear Bonus points: if the other characters don't seem to notice Double points: if the footwear changes every scene/"day" Triple points: if at some point the character is wearing tissue boxes on his/her feet Dare: To have at least five cups of tea consumed Bonus Points: If the same characters drinks all the teas Double Bonus Points: If five of the teas are peppermint, chamomile, earl grey, chai, and green tea Triple Bonus Points: If the teas play a vital role in the plot (symbolic or actual) I can imagine several characters who might like a cup of tea every now and then Used the first cup of tea: “Here you go,” the Island Gelert said, handing Aubrise a steaming cup of mint tea and taking the seat opposite. “I’m sorry you had such a difficult time getting here, but I’m sure that Chia’s glad you were around!” “Hmmm,” Aubrise replied, sipping the tea. “It’s strange though…”

I think I'm going to give up on NaNo for this year. I hadn't been on target, although I'd been planning to spend today writing, but my Dad just called to tell me my Gran has died, so I'm not feeling like writing any more at the moment. At least I have a decent start to a story to come back to and work on at some point.
