Pirate in the future- needs to SOMEHOW become part of plot. . . HOW?!?! Ideas welcome.
Okay my plot so far (supported by a fabulous backstory by Fj0rd-wing!):
In circa 2100, robots are all over the world. They're everywhere. All of the governments of the world are living on the moon, in opaque scrubbed glass domes. On Earth, some peoples have gone into remission, retreating from technology as much as possible and cutting off contact with the outside world. The others have melded with robots, living with them on a minute-to-minute basis.
After a journey of millions of light-years, the alien Sparliks have landed on the moon. They're a species who used to live in a system where all of the sun's light was reflected off of their moon, the sun was quite removed from their actual planet, and they've gotten used to moonlight rather than sunlight for daylight.
But since the Sun in our system is much closer and not as bright as the Sparlik Sun, called (?)Stoll, the minute froglike, furred aliens use their advanced technology to turn all of the Sun's heat into light that they can use to live on the Moon. They're not used to sharing their home planet with another species, and their technology has evolved a million years throughout their travel in space. . .
The son of the Government of Atlatira, the combined Canada and America, and a few others mysteriously disappear to the dark side of the moon and aren't seen for months. When they return, they seem normal. They are- while they remain on the Moon. But the Atlatic governor's son rebels against his harsh father, and escapes to Earth, where he now has the power to control the weather on Earth and the solar flares of the Sun.
Neither the humans nor the Sparliks have ever seen anything like this.

XD[/glow] Nah, actually Canada conquered the US after an all out, atomic war ^_~ *cough* I might actually go with that. . . . After the aliens CONTAMINATE enough people, peoplewhonowhavemagicalpowers are exiled into space in a spaceship. They are now completely dependent on each other for survival. And now I give you the part of my story which you will a) laugh at hysterically b) congratulate me for my ingenuity and c) rush to the Sci-Fi Dares thread to get some more wonderful ideas like this. My main character wakes up at night to find that a fire has broken out on the ship. None of the other powers can put it out; they need to drain the ship's air supply completely to take the oxygen away from the fire. Main character can manipulate weather and so he tries to save some of the air. In doing so he blacks out. Next time the name of the main character is revealed!

Might be changing it a little so that half of my world's magic and half of it's technology; the magic people knew that the tech people were here a long time before the tech people knew about them; their magic helped them stay free and basic, part of nature and they were content without ever moving anywhere. When they knew that the tech people had evolved into human beings, they changed their culture to resonate with the tech people and slowly integrated themselves into the tech society. Now some of the magic people are the dictators of the world and they have also spread to Mars.

OH MY! *might not know, actually, if you've changed your story a lot* The whole plot revolves around that one character's name. XD It doesn't change. One of the other character's name is Talia, though. I think. Just to see if you can guess the mystery name, here are some characteristics. -Fj0rdlepoop wrote a backstory on HIM -he can handle the weather with his magic skillz -is emo is crushin' on Talia (maybe)

Spartids are froglike. Change name to Sparliks.
A row of singing, highlighter-green, scarlet-and-crimson, rust-brown, and waterproof iPod-white Sparliks join hands and sing the Crazy Frog 'We Like to Party' in the climax, and their voices sound like metal flutes.

I am SO indebted to the Sci-Fi dares.
Someone's pet, while jumping around on a bed, accidentally falls onto a laptop of a gov't official and syncs a vid game with the internal controls of the ship where all of the magic people are onboard.
The magic people are descendants of the original magic people and their magic only works on earth/some material from the earth's core or natural state, like a tree or some dirt. therefore it didn't work on the moon because everything had to be filtered of "earth germs" that might spread on the moon.

Other Dares I'm Using:
Include a bored spaceship crewman passes the time by setting up an elaborate line of dominoes. Bonus if he somehow manages to do this in zero-gravity. Double bonus if it works.
Include a time traveling paradox in your story called the "Cosmic Doughnut". Double bonus if an unimportant side characters dismantles one.
Starship repair with duct tape.
Bonus: Repair is to the outer hull.
Double bonus: Repair makes ship work better then it did before it was fixed.

Earth's magnetic poles reverse suddenly, about 2600 years before they are expected to. This changes many of the aspects of life on Earth, including patterns in nature, tides, and sentience. This generates a sudden burst of electricity, and the sentience of about half of the human population increases, and so does that of many animals including certain dogs, dolphins, cats, mice, monkeys, ferrets, pigeons, and, oddly enough, Venus flytraps. The animals are able to communicate at a Homo erectus level, and the Venus flytraps are able to do something special.
Rivers and oceans flow backwards, and a huge amount of the South Pole's ice melts and isn't absorbed quickly enough by the North. Elephants bellow.
