Well, this is my first time participating in NaNo. I'm very excited. I also realize that by the end of November, I shall be a sleepless zombie, but hey, that's alright by me. If I write 1,500-2,000 words a day, I should be fine, especially because I can write a lot more on the weekends, and I don't think I have any big forensics tournaments on any November weekends (thank God).
I do have some ideas for the plot of my story, which I'm outlining on my laptop. I'll put them and my other ideas in the next post.
Random: I really enjoyed thinking of my NaNo name. It's spiroscribo, or "I breathe, I write". Because word order in Latin doesn't really matter, it could also be written the other way around. Both breathing and writing take top priority for me.

Excerpts
Excerpt I: Beginning
He had become a mathematician to explain life, to create it on the page before him in endless chains of numbers and formulas, and it made it all the more bitter an irony that he discovered only its destruction.
Seconds earlier, those seconds had been just that—seconds. Now, if he were right, they would become as the pounding of a struggling heart, each marking another inexorable movement towards the end. Saren felt numb as his fingers moved over the keyboard, losing their calculated rhythm of before and tapping out complex codes and program commands frantically. Even if his mind had gone blank, his body was on autopilot, searching for a way out.
“Hey, Saren, what’ve you got there?” The team leader, Alan, leaned over his shoulder with an easy grin, eyes roving over the computer screen. Saren ignored his friend and rechecked the numbers on the screen. They were all correct. “Heavens above.” Saren didn’t need to look up to know that Alan’s eyes would have gone wide and frightened along with the whisper that confirmed Saren’s suspicions.
“It’s the Final Spiral,” Saren said, voice strangely detached. The darkness gaped up at the two of them from the middle of a strange simulated pattern of numbers. The numbers spiraled slowly down into the hole, and Saren’s first absurd thought was that the pattern had been aptly named. “It’s like a black hole,” he breathed, gazing at the gently rotating numbers.
“What experiment are you monitoring?” Alan’s voice was tight and loud, causing several other members of the team to look up from their posts. Saren swallowed.
“I’ve been watching the fourth dimension simulation,” he said. “Time.” [/spoiler]

1764 words for today, and they're all pretty poor XD I'm not good at starting stories, though for once I do like my opening sentence. Look, Ma, an excerpt! :3

Heya, Pyro. I really liked your excerpt. I haven't personally read much along the lines of science fiction before, but I still found it really cool and interesting.
And I love your username.

Thanks! ^_^ I'm worried about the interesting-ness of my story, but I'm more concerned with finishing the story and then going back and editing, lol. It's actually not supposed to be science fiction...just futuristic. I think.
Thanks, me too XD
In other news...I'M PAST 40k!!!! I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO MAKE IT!!!!
