I have a plot! I have a plot!

So, basically, my MC (Rebecca Colter) was raped at a party at the beginning of her junior year. She called the police and crashed the party, basically. When she started school, she was alienated. She went from the most popular girl in school to rancid meat. The story starts a year later, when Rebecca is entering her senior year. She is still ignored by most everyone but her father was recently elected sheriff of their small town and this gives her access to a lot of information she didn't have before. She's thrust into a case when a student comes to her saying she got attacked behind a bar and she needs help. When a body is discovered in a river matching the description this friend gave her, she starts to investigate further.

And that's what I gots so far. I'm planning to juggle this storyline with the alienation from her old friends as well as another B-plot I hinted at a little at the beginning of the story with a teacher who was there for her during her junior year and takes a nasty turn in her senior year. And that should hopefully carry me to 50k. Hopefully. And because I'm still going with the whole "trashy novel" thing, I can throw in a few backstabbing breakups and pregnancies, which will always add a few thousand words of conflict.

Currently at 5,406 and just starting chapter six. ^_^

I ended day two with 8116 words. Which is awesome. ^_^ And my plot is becoming more developed and I realized I was focusing too much on the mystery and ignoring everything else so now I'm getting it more balanced without it being too awkward of a transition from a bunch of mystery to mixed mystery/drama.

Ugh, today's been a bad day. I had nothing to do all day and I've only managed to write just under 1000 words. Which is sorta bad. I want to get up to 10k today but I'm sorta blah about it. Nano site isn't loading and I really want to update my WC. And my story is sort of at a standstill now because I'm introducing a lot of things and putting things into motion. I need to pick up the pace soon.

Day four's going over well so far. 1800 words today in total and I'm aiming for 2500-3000. I'm not planning to overwhelm myself today. ^_^ I wanna watch Veronica Mars later today.

Today's a good day. Almost 4k words but I'm taking a break right now. Almost 13k in total. And I made a pretty list in the first post during my procrastination. Anything you want me to add to it?

Today's going okay so far. I figured, since I haven't posted any excerpts as of yet, I'd post the very beginning of it. Which is unedited and pretty sucky. But whatever. December is for editing.

"Where do you see yourself in ten years?" I took a swig from the bottle. Yeah, I'm a bottle girl. No cups or glasses for me.

"On the beach, in Maui, with you. Sipping pina coladas in the hot sun." Celia Chavez. She's a bottle girl too.

We're at the top of our game. We were about to enter our junior year in high school -- not a girl, not yet a woman, ya know? Everything was different then. First off, at that time I had more of an optimistic view of life. Things seem to be put into perspective after your drugged and raped at a party. I know now that Celia and I will never end up in Maui. In fact, we'll probably both be dead by then -- if we're lucky.

But I remember most that night really well -- the "Junior Start Bash". It seems we have a party for everything in the elite town of Cassadega. Seriously. It's non-stop partying. If you're in the in crowd, that it. And I was. I was inner than in. I was the one who made the decisions about who was in and who was out. But things change. To be honest, everything has changed. Celia doesn't talk to me anymore and my life slipped through my fingers like the sand on the Maui shores.

And then another line that I really like that I wrote a while ago.

If your mother doesn't talk to you for four years, are you supposed to feel bad when you're standing over her grave? It's like one of those "tree falls in a forest" kind of things.

Today wasn't a good day until about a half hour ago when I actually started to write. Then I came up with a pretty good idea: I switched viewpoints of my story from the protagonist to the antagonist because, when I first plotted it out, I have a perfect idea for the antag. But then she didn't really work into the story so now I'm doing the first 15k words my protag and the next 15k my antag and then the last 15k should be a splattering of both. So yeah. ^_^
