Here's a thread for general chatter about the upcoming NaNoWriMo of epic-ness. Here's a nice place to talk if this is your 4th year of NaNo or you're considering attempting something for the first time in November (or somewhere in the middle).
I did NaNo in 2005- but not in 2006. It was really fun, actually. What really really helped me write a lot was "word wars". Here there was a chatroom and someone timed everyone for 10 or 15 minutes and we just focused for all that time and wrote as much as we could. After that time we all posted how much we wrote. Also, writing in the morning was really helpful (harder now with the one computer in my sister's room =/).
For my NaNo this year, I have half a novel in mind and some characters (and really random details). But I have no idea how to start it or anything ^^.
So if you don't want to make a thread JUST yet, here's a nice place to add stuff ^^.

I have an entire backstory spanning several centuries in both directions, and it really confuses me, and I also have almost all of my characters planned. ^__^ With a few themesongs, hee. It makes me happy <3

I'm considering signing up and entering, but I was wondering if any of you had any advice on how to prioritize schoolwork and this.

I'm really curious how much im gonna have completed. This story is going to go all over the place. Complete crap, i must say xD Anything to get done in 1 month.

My parents think I'm insane for attempting this xD I have to balance exams, regular homework, travelling in and back from school, forensics, and the literary magazine on top of this. BUT THAT'S OKAY I'm really excited.

I'm excited. I sign up last year but never got around to doing anything. But not this time! This time I will do something. When I can log in that is. I fogot my screen name as well as my password. I sent a new password request and it said I would get an e-mail, but I haven't gotten it yet. Could something have gone wrong?

I have that problem a lot, I have about four active email addresses and then two or three more that no longer exist, so when I go back to somewhere, I often find that I signed up under an old email. Or, alternatively, maybe you typoed the address, or maybe the messages are being directed into your spam box.

Balancing schoolwork: That's gonna be a toughie. I did NaNo in Sophomore year so there was a bit less homework than now. (And no college applications to worry about...). I say, try to do you homework in spare moments during the day (between classes, in classes, on the bus, during lunch etc. And especially when you have no computer access). I really need to work on this too but... try to get the day's homework before you work on NaNo in the afternoon. That way, the homework is out of the way and you have all the time you want to work on it ^^ Blah, the site is still lagging

I'll sign up when it's not lagging though.

This'll be my first year :33 I'm still idly sketching out random ideas, but this thing looks like fun. >D But it would be just my luck for the computer to not be hooked up by November. I'll just have to cross my fingers
