Prancing from the ruins of the Cosplay and Craftiness board Mindy bore the screenshot of her floofy handicraft with pride. Purring contently she scurried off to where the others had taken refuge eager to show it off. Though she truly wished that her Jr. trophy tree hadn't been demolished so she could just hang the whole dreamcatch, Wandy and all, from the most visible branch.
Alas amoung the rubble Mindy grew quite disoriented with where she was going. Sighing, and growing rather impatient albeit, she doubled back to the Cosplay and Craftiness board hoping to find a better route. As she arrived the tiny leopard yelped in fear for all across the doorway and floor was a thick red sticky splatter. Gingerly approaching the mess she sniffed it once. Wrinkling her nose she sniffed it again and licked up a splatter on the doorframe.
"Barbaque sauce?" Gleefully Mindy sat down in a puddle of the stuff and started to slurp some up estatic to have something besides stale artwork and burnt Tchea fruits to satisfy her appetite.
"Enjoying yourself?"
Mindy's ears perked and she glanced this way and that. "Buh? Hey, when'd it get so dark in here?"
"Don't worry over it. Worry builds up adreneline levels in your muscles. Tastes repulsive."
"And...you know this how?"
"Speaking too is only going to make matters worse. Makes you less tender and juicy. At least you've seemed to already begun to marinate yourself in my special BBQ sauce"
"Why do you sound like that really bad Halloween episode of the Simpsons where the teachers start eating.....all the kids...? Aw crap."

This whole living on a cloud thing was nice (all canines go to heaven after all) but at times it sure could get boring. And why the heck was Meowith up here? The white Lupess been sure that all felines went to the 'other place'. Oh well, it was a little late to complain now.
"This is boring," Nimras moaned, tossing her halo up in the air and catching it irreverently.
"Hey, look!" Tracy exclaimed, "we're getting a new friend!"
"I don't think that's a good thing Tracy." All her comment got, however, was a blank look from Tracy. "Nevermind. Who is it?"
"Mindy!" Tracy squealed, clapping her hands happily. Nimras shook her head -- sometimes she thought the whole 'dead' thing had completely addled Tracy's brains.
A furious looking Mindy floated up through the clouds and landed with a soft thump on the cloud next to Tracy. "I don't want to be eaten!" she shrieked in fury. "Of all the stupid... moronic... Donner partyish --" she fell into incoherent sputtering.
"You got ate?" Tracy asked, looking impressed. "Man, that's not fair. Nim got stabbed by a pen, which is kind of cool... but I had a boring death." The dead admin pouted.
At least her odd comment seemed to make Mindy realize that she wasn't alone on the cloud. "Oh, hi guys."
"So have they found your body yet?" Nimras asked, starting to get interested in the conversation for the first time.
"I don't think so, why?"
"Movie time!" Tracy cried, digging through the cloud enthusiastically.
"What?"
"You'll see," Nimras explained, helping Tracy clear a space of the cloud to give a clear view down to the world of the living below. "Ohh, no they haven't found your body yet. See?" The white Lupess pointed down at Mindy's mangled body.
"I bet they'll scream when they find her," Tracy crowed.
"Shhh," the Lupess hissed. "Look -- Wandy's about to find her!"
All three dead people fell silent as Wandy turned around the corner of the hall Mindy lay in, and nearly tripped over the body. His shriek that made the still living NTWF mods come running sent the dead into near historical fits of laughter.
"Best entertainment you can get up here," Nimras explained to Mindy with a toothy grin.

[glow=red,2,300]By dawn, the mess in Cosplay and Craftiness had been discovered.
By Wandy.
His screams brought Rider and Crystal running. Blood and barbeque sauce. Sensei had been eaten.
Things unraveled rather quickly after that.
By noon, a strangely familiar rug was found in Off Topic. It was spotted. Very spotted. Perched jauntily on the feline's head, ten feet away, was Wandy's hat. Lycos has found an hour later, poisoned by her own Tabloid Store products.
Whatever threads were binding Stal's mind together snapped. He went on a rampage, blaming Rider and Ventratta. Because there's something distinctly untrustworthy about a captain and a rat that never blinks. Or perhaps there were other reasons.
By sunset, Ventratta was found pinned to the wall dissection-style, kunai in his paws and his belly slit.
Both Ikkin and Sev were nowhere to be found.
No one was going to get much sleep that night...[/glow]

Ikkin was, for all intents and purposes, dead. No, she hadn't been brutally murdered like the other mods; her heart was still beating, and her body was still breathing and walking around. But Ikkin was gone. The last shreds of her sanity had vanished, and she crept around the hallways of the NTWF mindlessly, like a shade, not even looking where she was going. Her body moved of its own accord, sightlessly following the paths it had taken so many times before.
And then, all of a sudden, she walked into a door. She let out an awful screech, unable to comprehend what had just happened. She pounded on the door furiously, trying to get by; why couldn't she get through? In her mentally compromised state, the possibility of the forum changing and creating a new board was incomprehensible to her.
Naturally, her scream drew the attention of all the other mods left in the building - how could they ignore something like that when there was a murderer around?
And so, Rider, Crystal, and even Stal (who had been dragged along by the others, mostly as cannon-fodder due to his instability) all found themselves in front of a new door, which Ikkin seemed to be trying to be breaking down by force.
"It must be password-protected," Crystal said. "Ikkin would have been able to get in otherwise."
"What's the password?" Rider asked. "Maybe there's something in there that could lead us to the murderer."
"Or maybe the name of the board could tell us who the murderer is. It looks like someone's screen name, but I can't make it out..." Crystal said. She looked at the others.
"Well, that's awfully convenient," Rider said. "I suppose all we can do for now is to try to figure out the password."

[glow=red,2,300]"Fish paws. Chopsticks. Stalismybishie. Grr... why aren't any of these passwords working?"
"Perhaps because you're a smelly pirate," Crystal sneered.
"I don't see you guessing at password!"
"Shush, I'm going into a meditative state."
"Oh yes, because we're totally going to find the password by meditating on it. I'll tell you what, Crystal-sama, I'm about thirty seconds away from throwing your useless behhind into the Underdeep and - "
The door swung open.
Rider swore.[/glow]

Sev nearly flew into the door as it swung shut in his face. Like Ikkin, he was running on autopilot, and hadn't expected it to be there. Some kind of force was drawing him there (which, in a sane state he would have recognized as his connection to Ikkin), and it wasn't about to let something as minor as a password-protected board get in his way.
With his current mental state the way it was, there was no way he could know it was a password-protected board, let alone figure out the password. So, he did the only solution he still knew - phoenix fire solves all problems.
And it might have taken a huge effort on his part, sustaining a white-hot fire blast for several minutes straight, and left him winded in the end, but he still managed to destroy enough of the door to get through. Still following that unknown force, he flew through the hole he created and into the mysterious board.

[glow=red,2,300]((Transcription of the RP from the secret board.))
A hole, dirt walls, dirt floor, dirt ceiling. Littered with food and small treasures which a fox would hold dear. On the ground, a phoenix feather, just in case.
And in the center, on a stolen beanbag chair, Wanderer, licking the smell of BBQ sauce off his paw.
Fj0rd paused in the entrance. Barbeque sauce... "Wanderer?"
Wandy jumped at the sound of Fj0rd's voice. "FJ0RD!"
He jumped out of his chair, teeth bared into that familiar canine snarl. "Who's with you here? Why have you come back?"
Echo leaped down into the fox hole, growing towards her more wolfish self.
"Wandy...how...how could you? I though you were my brother, I thought you loved me!" Her voice trembled from fear as her eyes welled up in tears. She gripped Fj0rd's hand tightly as if for support as she summoned her staff to protect herself from her own flesh and blood.
"I did it because I felt like it, you got a problem with that?" the kitsune bared his teeth and growled low.
The door behind you swings closed and locks.
"You're on my turf now. The mods are mostly gone. The rest of them are too stupid to figure out the password anyway. You're my fresh new victims."
Fj0rd laughed nervously. "Us? Why would you want to kill us?" she asked. She stood awkwardly, clutching Echo's hand. Danger sharpened her senses. She could see every red hair on Wanderer individually, and his every movement was now something to be measured out and sorted. There were two categories: Threatening and Non-Threatening.
Right now, the Threatening category was definitely winning.
Wandy lunged.
...
A kunai flew through the air and embedded itself in one of his paws. it was shortly followed by one very angry pirate and one even angrier ninja, (mostly angry because the pirate got the password.)
They were followed by a Ikkin and Sev, both on complete autopilot. Stal stumbled in.
it looked like it would come down to a fight after all.
"Wandy... why?" [/glow]

At that moment, the narrator decided that it would be more interesting to back up and take the point of view of Fj0rd, who had managed to find her way into the hidden room in the forum by means of a magical artifact on the island. The narrator was subsequently hit by a brick for breaking the fourth wall.
Anyway, Fj0rd was in the room, which looked rather much more like a foxhole, fending off Wanderer by herself, when the cavalry arrived. From the doorway, Crystal threw several kunai, startling the mod, one embedding in his paw. Enraged and in pain, he aimed a fire blast back at her, but it went wild as he was forced to dodge a strike from Fj0rd, which he had barely overlooked.
Just as soon as he had countered this attack, however, Rider came in from a third side, hedging him in even further. He barely managed to dodge a horizontal swipe from her cutlass, and nearly backed into Fj0rd's naginata as he did so.
Ikkin, despite her lack of sanity, was compelled by whatever kind of autopilot she was in to attack, blasting fire at the cornered mod with a swipe of her cutlass; Sev flew in overhead, equally lacking in true control, and swiped at him with his talons. Stal joined in the fight with a vengeance, his madness compelling him to strike out against the one who brought him to such a sad state.
Finally, Wanderer had no place to go. He was surrounded on all sides by Fj0rd and the mods, most of whom were set upon bringing down the murderer, once and for all. Sev kept looking uncomfortably at Ikkin; something about her made him feel wrong, even in the maddened state he was in.
Fj0rd, however, was still curious about what had caused Wanderer to snap. "Why?" she asked, one last time, even though she didn't really expect him to reply.
Wanderer didn't say anything. He looked from face to face, trying to determine which one was the most open to an attack, as the other mods tried to reason him into giving up. He continued in silence, obviously not paying attention to their words. It was an uneasy standstill.
Crystal gripped her kunai tighter. Rider took a step closer and leveled her sword at Wanderer's throat. Stal's two sai shook from the effort to control his rage. Ikkin looked forward, still oblivious. Sev shifted his wings uneasily, trying to look away from Ikkin. Fj0rd wondered whether the mods would ever get on with it.
Finally, Wanderer made his choice. He summoned all of Kyubi's power into himself, and launched it directly at Sev. The phoenix burst into flame, dead.
Wanderer hadn't taken into account the fact that Fj0rd might react in some way other than shock. With a quick slash of her naginata, the ninja slew the forum's resident murderer, then collapsed to the ground, hardly believing what had just happened.
When the others finally had the chance to look around, they realized just how bad the situation was. Sev, who usually revived immediately, remained a pile of ashes on the ground. Ikkin lay on the floor, seemingly dead as well. Of all the mods who had stayed behind in the forum, only Rider and Crystal remained alive and sane; Stal was still mad from his grief over Spot and Mindela.
"It can't end like this..." Rider said. "We were supposed to have a happy ending... somehow everything would turn out right... but now..."
Rider's hopelessness was interrupted as a spark from Sev's ashes drew everyone's attention. Within moments, the phoenix had revived itself once more, wings spread wide in his full glory once more.
"Ugh, I'll never try to sever my bond with Ikkin again," he said, clearly back in his right mind.
At that moment, Ikkin stirred, and sat up, rubbing her head. "Oww, my head... what happened?"
"That's what I'd like to know, too..." Fj0rd said.
"That can wait until after," Crystal pointed out. "I think Sev should revive everyone first."
Surprisingly, the phoenix didn't question the order, even before Ikkin nodded her head in agreement. So, with a burst of phoenix fire that lit up the entire forum, all of the dead mods were revived, and the forum was back to normal once again. And, as Stal was embraced by his still-living wife and daughter, his mind began to calm down once more.
"What about him?" Fj0rd asked, glaring at Wanderer, who had been revived with the others. "How do we know he won't do it again?"
"It wasn't really his fault," Sev said. "Now that I'm back to normal, I remember that there was some kind of illness that I caught from him, and it seemed to slowly strip me of all control that I had. Wanderer probably had some inner thoughts of revenge that ended up out of hand once the disease took him, just as I had some thoughts of disobeying Ikkin that ended up causing me to try to break the bond. It's gone now, though; there's no way it could survive a phoenix fire resurrection."
"I'm really sorry, everyone," Wanderer said. "I couldn't help myself..."
"That's all well and good," Rider said. "But, you're going to have to do more of your normal share of the cleaning to make up for it."
"...that's actually less punishment than I expected," Wanderer said.
Crystal smirked. "Well, then, we'll just have to return you to your former position as the modly torture toy to make up for it."

The rest of the forumers returned a few days later to find the NTWF sparkling clean.
"Well, I must say, I'm impressed. There appears to have been no major disasters while I was away, and the forum is as clean as I've ever seen it."
The mods and the forumers who had arrived earlier smiled at each other knowingly. There was no point in letting this debacle get out to the forum at large.
