Please tell me DS games don't have an internal battery.
I wonder how long those last, and if Bacon's technique is a solution for Pokémon games.

Yay, this thread reminded me I need to finish FR...*trying to obtain the first 150*
And I also need to finish Diamond. @_@ I still haven't ever beaten it ALL the way through (not including catching all pokes). And playing it makes me excited for Platinum and the Battle Frontier, which looks spiff. CARNIVAL. =D

I wonder how long those last, and if Bacon's technique is a solution for Pokémon games. DS games aren't cartridges, they're SD cards. Not only that, but DS games don't save to the card, they save directly to your DS. The only thing close to an "internal battery" is the rechargable battery inside the DS itself.

Wrong. In order to get a Slowpoke, you have to use the Pokeradar on route 205. Pearl version only. EDIT: In case you're confused, all you'd have to do is trade a Slowpoke to me that is holding the King's Rock, and it will evolve into Slowking. With no extra game in the GBA slot? Okay then, I should catch a Slowpoke xD Where do I get the King's Rock? I though you only needed the Up-grade?

Then you'll need the Dubious Disc for evolving Porygon2 into Porygon-Z.

It's synthetic, thus it doesn't actually exist in the wild(at least not in the games I've played). I think in most games, you buy them from the Game Corner.

Nope, Slowpoke doesn't require a GBA game. The only Pokemon that you can get from GBA insertion only are the ones that are listed in the Serebii.net link I gave you.
King's Rock can be stolen from wild Poliwhirl, or found with the Pickup ability.
King's Rock also evolves Poliwhirl into Politoed, which I also need to obtain... but I can get him myself, unlike Slowpoke/Slowbro/Slowking XD
Porygon can be found in the Trophy Garden. (but only as the daily special trophy garden Pokemon)

So I dug out my ol' Pokémon Red game and Pokémon Stadium, curious if I could move all my Pokémon off Red and start a new game. Unfortunately, I encountered two problems. 1) the boxes in Pokémon Stadium are already WAY full, and 2) turns out there's more nostalgia behind that save file than I thought. D: Good gosh, I wish I knew where that GB game save thingy was.
Anyways, instead of restarting Red for nostalgia's sake, I ended up playing Pokémon Stadium for nostalgia's sake. <3 Which later turned into playing Pokémon Snap for nostalgia's sake. (Snap I was also about to restart, but my sis protested and made me just play the existing save file... and then I caught wind of that save file's nostalgia, too. XD; See, this is why I like multiple/unlimited saves. I hate having to erase stuff.) Srsly good times.
I now have the urge to break out even more nostalgia and pull out some other old N64 game, actually. >_> Maybe Puzzle League. Puzzle League was always fun.

I wish I knew where Pokémon Stadium 2 was. D: It like randomly disappeared one day and we never found it. Much like most of our other Pokémon games. Srsly, we're mostly confined to the spinoffs. Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen and the previously mentioned Stadium 2 have ALL gone mysteriously missing over time. It's kinda disconcerting. (My dad/sis still think they were stolen...)
But anyway. I decided to go for another major nostalgia rush and booted up Hey You! Pikachu! <3 I wasn't actually expecting Pika to recognize my voice, since last I played I was all young and higher-pitched, but surprisingly enough he understood me just fine. Which was pretty awesome. Ah yes, the old spinoffs were the best spinoffs.
Though one time while I was playing the Shadow Quiz, I was in the middle of telling Pika it was Butterfree when suddenly a bunch of random letters appeared halfway off the top of the screen and the game froze. I was all "D:?" and had to reset. Still have no idea why it did that, since it seemed to run fine otherwise. Must have been some weird glitch I somehow triggered.

Not only that, but DS games don't save to the card, they save directly to your DS. The only thing close to an "internal battery" is the rechargable battery inside the DS itself. I'm pretty sure that DS games do, in fact, save to the card. Else why would I have had to delete the old save file on my second-hand Pearl? About the closest I've heard of that happening in a game is that Nintendogs checks to see whether it's on the same DS as before and disables various features if it isn't (though I think it will go back to normal if you keep using it on that new DS). Plus DS can only have so much memory, and I don't see any option on the DS menu to 'check save files' or anything. But no, they don't have an internal battery. Instead, they use the DS calendar. And Kirby, is there any way to temporarily disable your password, or to change the PW to WEP?

If you want to get technical, it actually saves on both using FLASH memory. but the point is that DS games do not have internal batteries.
