This week was hell week for me because we had a six-day break last week due to a supertpyhoon and a holiday. Gaaah....the horror. Everything I had to do for last week all piled up this week. And I couldn't do many of them during the break because I mostly needed the library and field work. Feh. I can't believe I actually wish the six-day break didn't happen.

Psycho, Economics, Skidmore College (subject to change >>; )
My roommate is a beer guzzler. Oh joys. But I'm bringing homemade pillows for our window seat, a fridge, and christmas lights for our room, so she thinks I'm the best roommate ("EVER!").
In any case, fingers crossed for a peaceful year...

Yeeeesh. Been doing some crazy rescheduling this week. Seriously--I can't begin to explain it without employing the use of several extra dimensions. I posted the whole thing in my (newly-created) journal on here, and the saga still isn't done yet.
On the upside, I've met up with several people from last year, and capoeira is getting started again.
EDIT: Yay! The scheduling nightmare has finally drawn to a close. I just have one book left to buy, and I'm not even entirely sure I'll need it.

*Sigh* The perils and joys of being a math major. Sooner or later, everything you thought you knew about mathematics gets turned on its head.
Case in point: In my last Linear Algebra lecture, I learned that, under proper circumstances, 1+1=0.

How come I haven't spotted this thread before? :3
...right, because I rarely show up on the Clubs board >>; Sign me up anyway. Second year of English Language and Literature in Tartu University, the witty title is up to you.
S' kinda hard to list all the joys and woes in order, since they're interwoven, but let's see. It's four in the morning on the day I return to dorm, and I've just finished picking my classes for this semester, something I could've done in May. And due to postponing, I couldn't pick Japanese, because the group was full, or judo, for the same reason (what? It would've been fun, exercising and I would've gotten credit points xD). And they don't have Introduction to Alchemy this year. Or Religion of Ancient Egypt. And I did consider Experimental Methods of Nuclear Physics (yes, seriously) but it's only one credit point and required some boring class to be taken prior to that.
I did, however, manage to compile a schedule that doesn't kill me - even if it means five-day weeks instead of last year's four - and that includes two pwnsome electives: Peruvian Culture and Religion, and Introduction to Banking :333 (me? Really weird range of interests? No wai.) And taking buses will be easier this year. Instead of two buses and a big circle I can take one bus and straight from my hometown to uni. Even if it probably means waking even earlier each Monday than I did last year. Yay.
Now all I have to do is worry about whoever will end up as my roomie this year >> Good roomies are crucial when it comes to decent college life.
Hm, this year's choice of classes (compulsory ones) seems to be daggone boring. History of the English Language. English Lexicology. English Literature from Baroque to Romantism (last semester had from Middle Ages to Baroque, and it was hard), and Society and Culture of Great Britain. Not really comparable with last semester's American Slang (and its "cookies", oh em gee). Atleast History of English-Speaking Countries oughtta be easy, I've had atleast two classes on the similar subject already.
Hm. Here's hoping that I'll get a bunch o' easygoing lectures I can get materials for from the net and skip attending the actual lectures. I do that a lot xD

Dorm life is turning for the better :3 If nothing else, I'll spend so much time talking in English that my orrible accent might fade a little. My new roomie is 1) Latvian 2) pretty good at English 3) I phail at Russian, so we speak in English and 4) she seems nice and quiet ^^
...smokes, though >> But I don't mind the smell of smoke that much, and she goes to the special smoking room, 'cause we have smoke detectors in our room. Shiny.
And the Italian girl from two rooms away invited me to join her and her friends to have fruit salad in our compartment kitchen earlier today, so I socialized quite a bit. Nice people.

I was checking the study plan with a friend earlier, and it seems we really have to take some subjects next semester because they're prerequisite for others that are prerequisites for the most important classes in later semesters. XD; (What I'm studying is 8 semesters long, and we have to take Textile Design I to VIII classes, one each semester.)
I know it makes sense that you need to know things before you take other classes, but it makes it so hard that sometimes you can't fit them in your schedule, and not taking a prerequisite can make you fall behind one semester.
But at least I'm not in a hurry to finish. I actually feel it would be too soon. o-o I mean, if I don't fall behind, I'll be 21 when that happens, and my 19th birthday is already coming soon. XD
And I decided to post here because I'm at school right now, with nothing to do but wait. XD

I still have no timetable, and no idea about when I'm meant to go back. Considering I'm pretty excited to get into a new house (with new people I dunno yet, that should be interesting) and get back to my studies, including Cyberlaw, which should be great... it's worrying. xD;; Everyone else is gearing up to go back, too, so oh dear. I'm gonna start looking for a new job, maybe for weekends, when I get there, since my current one is going to be gone sometime in the next year and I like money.

I'm a sophmore paleontology major at Montana State University. Joys: Well the Dead Lizard Society and the older Paleo majors are all really neat. The Earth Science department is one of the best in the country, and we have the Museum of the Rockies. Some of the classes are fun, I'm really loving historical geology so far with professor Feeley and I've met Jack Horner and Vericcio (Still can't spell his name). The professors love to drink and are pretty wild so alcohol is a large part of the culture (though I'm not a drinker of any sort). Woes: Well I have to take some of the hardest classes on campus. Chem 131 and 132 were hell and have a 70% failure rate with most people taking it multiple times to pass. I passed the first time through each but barely. We also have to take calculus for engineers which is the most failed class on campus and there are two levels of it. Oh, can I be the Blue Paleo Ranger? (We were talking about making a rock based power ranger squad. They have a hardness of 7 and are quartz based while their enemy has a hardness of 8. XD)

XD; (What I'm studying is 8 semesters long, and we have to take Textile Design I to VIII classes, one each semester.) I know it makes sense that you need to know things before you take other classes, but it makes it so hard that sometimes you can't fit them in your schedule, and not taking a prerequisite can make you fall behind one semester. Oh, I know what you mean. Prereqs can be a pain, and it's some sort of monumental task to try to properly plan a schedule, especially if you have to plan for two or three years at once! It's even more frustrating when a prereq class isn't even offered in the quarter you need to take it, which happened to one of my friends recently. As for me, I'm going to be heading back to Savannah in a day, which is a big joy. But woe is me, I didn't finish as much of my animation as I had wanted, so I hope my prof doesn't give me too much flack for it. I mean, I'm still far more ahead of the game than a lot of the other 2d people are. I blame the fact that they're animating on paper instead of straight on a computer program like Flash. Jeez, simply capturing the animation takes so much time, and if it's already in the comp, the ability to instantly playback any tweaks or changes is so much more help. But still, I have major chunks of five shots to finish. :/ Looking forward to this quarter, despite it being probably my most busy. I'm taking three studio classes, rather than the advised two studios and a lecture class, since I've run out of lectures. That's what happens when I've earned AP credit to bypass the usual lectures. Three studios means more projects per week. Not only that, but my Cartooning class is being taught by Prof Goto this quarter. My friend took that class a couple of quarters ago, and she had so much work to do there that we barely saw any of her that quarter. I mean, 30 comic strips in the span of a couple weeks? My gosh. And that's just the first assignment. Ugh, and I'm taking Senior Project II, where I'm supposed to be doing all the cleanup and coloring for my animation, and that's so time-consuming. Uck. I really, really hope my Comic Book Scripting class is easy. ;__; Oooh, and another joy: The anim department head said he was considering making Gary Goldman's special topics classes into portfolio-required classes! Yesss! So that basically means you'll have to 'audition' your talents to be able to take that class, and that totally bumps up my chances of getting in! Score! Gary Goldman! THE Gary Goldman! I mean, he's pretty much one of the most important animators in history! Jeez, only being taught by Walt Disney himself could trump a class like that!

Here's another Woe: I spent my morning doing lots of Precalc reading and then the homework, didn't understand most of it and probably failed the quiz yesterday. Oh, and now I'm going to the minerology lab to stare at quartz crystals and feldspars with a tiny hand lens for a while and learn to identify them and their chemical formulas. At least Quartz's SiO2 is easy. Blargh.

Oh poop on a stick. This might be a tougher quarter than I had been afraid it might. Scripting class has a heavier load than I expected, and Cartooning has projects due every single day! :< Not to mention, I have to finish all my animation before week 3, or I'll be seriously behind in the cleanup, and will never catch up. Gaaah!
On a good note, though, I think it'll be easier finding a sound designer for my short. As it turns out, one of the Sound Design profs has a class specifically for doing sound for animation, and the students need films to work on. Wewt! I just have to email my film to that prof and I can get me a sound designer! Score! Here I was, afraid I'd have to put flyers up in the SD building. XD

Well, a visiting capoeira mestre (master)/instructor came to do workshops with my capo group this weekend. I really wanted to go. But? I had a cold. I could have done it, but I didn't want to get anyone else sick. I missed 3 days of capo workshops...waah. Heh, 3-day capoeira workshops...I can sum up by altering a quote from 8-Bit Theater: "First they murder you, then they kill you. Then? Then they go to work on you." Yeah--I really wanted to go, it would have been so much fun. And I paid for two of the workshops, so I need to get my money back.
