Okay, here's the deal about guilds.
Because this is mostly a member run deal, and somewhere along the way people have gotten the impression that it's up to the mods to keep track of applicants and so forth, some problems have arisen in getting people into their guilds in time.
For now, the exclusivity of the boards have been removed. There's no need for any mod involvement in making sure that people get in the guild they're applying for now. However, it'll be up to the guild captains to officially accept people in, etc.
However, there are some things to keep in mind.
1) Just because you can now view, read, and post in all the guilds doesn't mean you should. Any raids or spamming in the other guild boards will be dealt with.
2) If you don't like the new openness due to some sort of confidential planning you need, you should post in code (as Spacefleet has been doing).
If this becomes too much of a problem for people, then we'll look into another solution. This is merely a good starting place, as the previous system wasn't working before.

... does this mean the pirates and Ninjas can attack eachother's HQs again?

Preferably not. If both parties are okay with it, then yes. But the whole idea is that things are pretty much the way they were before. Still need to apply and join, etc. It's just a bit more informal now (which will also help keep guilds from dying on people).
If the pirates and ninjas want to war at it, I suggest a war thread in the main lobby to keep the main HQ threads clear. Unless, like said, the captains of each guild okay it with each other ahead of time ("Hey, could we do a storyline thing where we literally invade your HQ?" "Yeah, sure! Go ahead!")

Red alert! Red alert! They've broken into our databases! Re-encrypt all records! *flails randomly*

Ok, so another question, do we still post applications into the "Guild signup" board, or should we make new boards for potential new members to apply in our own HQs?

I'm pretty excited about this actually, cause it opens up whole new possibilities for RP between guilds if they agree on it. I've always wanted to go and higher mercenaries and stuff.

Oooh, another question, does the old "3 guild memberships per person" rule still apply? I personally think it should stay, but that's just my opinion.

Again, this is just a change to make it easier for people to speed up the membership process. That's it. Nothing else has changed. And if no-barriers becomes too much of a problem because of everyone's actions, then another solution will be looked at.

*has a strange urge to come up with a code for the ninjas now* But yeah, this will definitely help with the whole taking-forever-to-get-in-a-guild thing. And the hiring mercenaries thing Keng mentioned sounds really fun.

Hopefully nobody is going to break the Spacefleet code. We are discussing some very sensitive information regarding future plans for the guild. ^_^;; But if we do have problems with people unlocking the mystery of the code, we can simply switch to a new one or make up one of our own.
I think this is a step in the right direction, and as long as everyone remains honorable towards the guild system, we shouldn't have problems anytime soon.

Hmm a Pirate Code... I think that no matter how pirate-secret we make it, it's will be really easy to guess.
Or we could all talk like ninjas.
"Apples?"
"Bananas!"
"Huzzah!"

I have a great idea for a code! A=Z, B=Y, C=X, and that's all I can tell you without giving it away.
No, I'm not being serious. But I do have a great idea for a code... or do I?
