Dear Guildspeople of the NTWF,
Guilds seemed like a good idea at first, and in the beginning, they did seem to flourish. Recently, however, they've begun to die off, with less and less people actually posting in them, until almost all of them ended up inactive. So, we've decided to make some major changes that we hope will rectify the situation. These changes may seem like a pain in the short run, but it will probably be better off for everyone in the long run.
First, the guilds will be reset, much the way the Bloids sometimes are. All guild affiliations will be nullified, and all previously open threads will be locked and saved only for archival purposes. This will allow us to get a better idea of who actually wants to take part in each guild at this time. Renewing your membership will be made necessary by the next change:
Guilds will no longer be password protected. We've learned through experience that password protected boards seem to die out fairly quickly, and since many people were members in multiple guilds, it only made the situation worse. Guilds will still have closed membership, however; instead of a password, though, members of the guild will be added as a "Moderator" to the board of the guild in which they are a member. This will not offer you any particular powers, however, or make you a "Moderator" in any true sense. It's just a convenient way to ensure that only members in the guild can view it, while allowing guild posts to be viewed without using a password. This, of course, means you will be unable to view any guilds until you are added, which is part of the reason why the guilds must be reset.
Lastly, expect a Guild War to take place once people have time to sign up for their guilds again - see Shino's thread for more information on that. Which is a good example of a member of the guilds taking charge and setting something up on his own, something that is highly useful for keeping the guilds alive. Remember, it's the members who make the guilds worth staying around - we mods can't do everything. [image] Hopefully, events like that will keep the guilds fresh for everyone this time around.
If you need to be added to a guild, post your name, the guild you want to join, and your qualifications on the new Guild Signup thread. ^_^
