Riv arrives his new work, nervous and excited. He sees a large, rough-looking grey Marvir standing nearby, looking slightly dirty and with a helmet to his head. As he spots Riv shyly standing near him, he quickly heads over to explain the new job to him. Riv listens intently, not wanting to miss a detail and screw up somehow.
A few minutes later, he enters the narrow, dark cave that Glom, the Marvir-in-charge he had just spoken to, had talked to him about. He notices a few dozen Marvirs crowded in there already, dirty and sweating, all with some head protection or shells, and wonders where they are from. He doesn't say anything, though - Glom had told him that the Marvirs prefer for there to be quiet during their work.
Watching a nearby Marvir to see exactly what to do, Riv sets to work, mimicking his neighbor's work and putting all his strength into the work, wanting to feel useful on his first day.
The hours pass by as he grows dirtier and sweatier. Finally, at sunset, Glom calls out all the Marvirs, congratulates them for their good work and sends them home.
(I honestly know nothing about mining. *loser* So.. sorry, that sucked xD)

Mokona smiles as it finishes pasting a stamp on the last envelope on the list it got of addresses of where to mail pamphlets to. After setting the letter in a bag with all the others, Mokona grabs the remaining posters and heads out.
After arriving at the post office, Mokona empties the letters into the mailbox. After recieving permission, it hangs a poster inside the post office.
Already being downtown, Mokona hangs more ad posters in bus stops and telephone poles as it goes by. Mokona then stops by the library and Marvir Shoppe to hang a couple more posters.
Mokona stops by a few restaurants and hangs posters there as well, occasionally getting something small for a little snack on the way and telling the customers all about the beauty contest.
Hanging the last poster on a store, Mokona takes a little break before heading back. That was quite a bit more walking today, but it seems pretty happy to have been able to get those posters out there.

((*looks around at long posts* Wow, I was just going to come here and type a couple of sentences between asterisks, but now... ^^ ) Saisha checks the sign outside the front of the yawning black cavern carved out of the rocks. Mysterium Mine; no doubt about it. She peeks hesitantly into the blackness, hoping to get a preemptive look at her new working environment, but finds herself unable to see past a few orange pebbles at the mouth of the cave. Taking a deep breath, she scoots slowly forward and lets the cave swallow her, keeping her eyes open as the darkness swims out to meet her. Her eyes adjust to the dim light, and she makes out rows of other Marvirs hard at work tunneling through sheets of rock. A single flare burns through the darkness, and Saisha observes that it is attached to the end of a fuse atop a Marvir's head. In a brief moment of fear that he might try dynamiting his way through the rock that way, she sidles over to an area of the cavern as far from him as possible. Too shy to ask for help from the others, she gives the unmoving rock a determined look and bows her head, touching the tip of her horn to the stone. She begins pushing forward, twisting her body, slowly screwing a hole out of the rock. She is not quite sure what she's looking for, but feels she's found it all the same when she feels warmth against her horn and draws back to see, lodged deep in the hole she just bored, a stone brightly glowing with mysteries untold.

The air outside is full of the brisk scent of autumn as Chirop flits through the streets of Marville, a stack of posters and assorted pamphlets held daintily in her mouth. Because today is her first day on the job, and also because this job promises a reward that she will use to make herself infinitely pretty, she is determined to do a good job. She flutters down to land in the park first, but realizes that someone has already plastered the trees here with BC posters. Sniffing haughtily, she takes flight again.
From high up in the air, she soon spots a pleasant-looking school and dips down to take a look. It seems to be empty on this Saturday afternoon, and she decides that there should be no harm whatsoever in just squeezing her tiny form in through the open office window and distributing a few posters.
Taking care to tack up a poster wherever she can find a tree, post, or idle car, she flaps over to the office window only to discover it shut and locked. But Chirop is not known for giving up. Her sharp eyes take in an air exchange vent overhead, its metal slats broken and wrenched apart, and she manages to slip inside.
Unfortunately, the flow of air inside the duct is too much for her -- with an almighty whoosh and flutter of paper, the posters and pamphlets are wrenched from her grip. She gives a terrified squeal and manages to duck back against the vent, where she is protected from the breeze; but the papers are long gone, spiralling off down adjacent chutes to end up spilling out into various classrooms throughout the school.
Chirop pauses, then grins smugly to herself. Mission completed... for today at least.

Riv arrives smiling for his second day of work - despite the fact his muscles (yes, he has muscles. I don't care if he's made out of liquid ) were aching when he woke up that morning, it was somewhat pleasurable - the feeling that comes after hard work. He enters the familiar cave once again, greeted only by his neighbor worker with a nod. Heading to a corner near the one he worked at yesterday, he decides to try to use his own body to get the work done, instead of other tools. His first idea was to use his short fuse and blow up the rocky wall, but as common sense knocks in, he decides that may not be the best idea. Instead, he directs his rat tail into one of the crevices, turning around in place to make it a bit more comfortable, and starts - not really knowing what he's doing - to push, spin, twist and push some more. Fortunately, his tail was much, much stronger than it seemed, and it actually got the job done quite well. It did get him some strange looks from Marvirs nearby who noticed, though. A few hours later, as the setting sun glared reddish-orange light into the cave, and Glom came once again to release them home, Riv was pleased to see that he had stayed mostly clean - except for his tail - but still felt the pleasing tiredness after a hard, exercising day of work.

Saisha's nervousness is gone by her second day on the job, and she even finds herself looking forward to the work, despite how much effort it takes and the fact that she's not blessed with much physical strength. She goes at the rocks with a fervor not seen before, ignoring the other toiling miners and barely hearing the crackling of the fuse on the one Marvir's fuse. Bracing her thick tail against the ground, she drills forward with her horn, only one thought on her mind. She must find more of this amazing mineral, this Mysterium.
There was a moment of magic every time she uncovered one of the glowing rocks that shone through the cave as a beacon to tell all that they were special, different from the stone that made up the walls of the underground mine. There must be a great Mysterium ore deep in the mine, if Saisha could only tunnel far enough to find it.
She contents herself with digging out the smaller chunks for now, but as she goes home that day, her dreams are of a giant lode shining with power to rival faeries.

Maisie hurries to the printing office, slightly embarassed that she's very nearly late for her first day's work. Puffing a little, she composes herself before she goes in-- being so very nearly late she feels she'd better make a good impression.
She enters into the building and finds herself in a small room with some very loud machinery buzzing away in the corner. It seems to be spewing out leaflets, covered with vivid, shining colours. As no one seems to be around, Maisie tentatively approaches the machine and gingerly takes a few leaflets. They are clearly advertising the beauty contest, so she takes a few more and puts them in a bag before leaving the printing room.
Back out on the streets of Marville, Maisie wonders where she should go first. Thinking of her old job, she decides to head for the library. The pretty leaflets would show up very well against the gleaming wood of the bookcases. Humming happily, she makes her way there and spends most of the day decorating the library with posters. There are a few Marvir who are reading in there and most seem fairly bemused to see her putting a leaflet on every single bookcase. The cleaners clearly think it is overkill, but Maisie herself simply feels that she has made it prettier.
Soon she has run out of leaflets and realises that she is done for the day. Tomorrow, she thinks, maybe she'll try to go somewhere with more Marvir around so she can spread the word further. After all, there weren't that many in the library and the Beauty Contest needs as much advertising as it can get!

Chirop grins despite herself. Another day, another opportunity to make the otherwise lifeless task of distributing posters a little more... efficient. Innovation is her middle name, after all. Or was it Chaos...?
She has already been to the printing office today, and is loaded up with a fresh stack of posters and brochures. Her employers seemed surprised that she had managed to deliver all of her last stack in one day, a reaction which pleased her to no end. Now, however, Chirop flaps around the maze of streets and parks, keeping a watchful eye out for areas that have not yet been targetted by Ad Distributors. But she is disappointed -- it seems like the whole of Marville is now thoroughly coated in papers proclaiming the arrival of the Beauty Contest.
And that's when she gets an idea.
It doesn't take long for a quick flyer like Chirop to leave the town of Marville far behind and see the hustle and bustle of a fresh (and untargetted) land looming steadily before her: Neopets General. There, sitting in a grassy field and chatting happily, is a group of about five Neopians discussing recently discovered pet colours and laughing about their latest pranks. As she approaches this gathering, a couple of cheerful Neopians turn and point at her; one even squees in delight. The Neopians are only too happy to take the BC papers off her hands, and each one grabs several extra to hand out to his or her friends.
Smiling broadly once more, her stack of papers half gone, Chirop soon takes off in the direction of Collaborations, where she sees several new groups of industrious Neopians working away. They are busy with their writing and plotting and don't notice her at first -- but she stares at them until they realize what she wants, and then nervously take the rest of the pamphlets from her before she has a chance to do something rash.

Riv heads once again into the familiar cave, and without wasting any time, heads straight to work. He decides to alternate between the different tools he has at his side - his tail, his fuse (which he decides, despite it all, that it may be quite useful) and maybe even the tools that were sitting at the entrance of the cave for Marvirs who opted to use them.
Picking an empty corner, he decides to start using his rat tail once again as the first tool. As he reaches in deeper and deeper through the dark wall of the cave, pushing and turning, he once again is greeted by a shiny, bright material - the Mysterium.
Very pleased, Riv decides to try the next tool - his fuse. Quite nervous now, and most definitely worried, he starts leaning forward towards the wall, very slowly as he is hoping the other Marvirs can notice and back off without him actually having to tell him what he was doing - he'd rather them just be worried and afraid but at least backing off, rather than staying there to tell him off for the potentially dangerous thing he may be doing.
Luckily, the few neighboring Marvirs notice the crackling fuse now dangerously close to the rock, and looking quite alarmed, back off and choose a new place to work at, murmuring among themselves about what he was about to do. Gulping, Riv finally allows his fuse to make contact with the rock, pushing slightly into it.. however, out of fear, his eyes are closed as he waits for the results (which he expects to feel, obviously not see). There is no huge explosion, but there is a loud noise, that - as Riv finally opens his eyes again, he notices - attracts the attention of all the Marvirs nearby.
However, they don't even concern him at that moment - with a big smile, Riv looks at the wall he had just.. blown up, pretty much. And with those feelings of pride, he doesn't even mind the fact he has to squint in order to be able to look at the large block of Mysterium that is now shining brightly, finally no longer hiding behind rocky walls.

Maisie arrives at the printing office in perfect time and gazes around for some leaflets. She can't be the only distributor at work, she's seen lots of posters and flyers all over Marville and although the machine in the corner is still industriously pumping out pamphlets, there aren't that many left. Gathering up a pile of miscellaneous adverts - pamphlets, posters, brochures, flyers, and even little Beauty Contest clicky-pens - she heads out onto the streets of Marville.
There are advertisements everywhere, so instead of going to one specific place, she decides to visit all the places that clearly have already been visited, but to put up her own advertisements in spare places- the odd tree here, a fence there, an exposed bit of wall. In so doing, half the morning is passed and she is left with only a few leaflets.
Struck with inspiration, she heads for the art gallery and the museum. Here, surely, she will find some interested Marivr. Indeed, she is not disappointed- there are many marvir, all crowding round and very interested in the beauty contest. It seems no one else thought to come here as there aren't any adverts. Beaming, Maisie spends the rest of the afternoon pasting up adverts in the most creative section of Marville and handing flyers to interested artistic-types wandering around.
As the day ends, she hands out her last flyer and puts up the last poster. Feeling as though she has done a good job and successfully advertised the beauty contest, Maisie heads home, wondering who the winners will be.

Bwiff hops triumphantly into the laboratory. His first job! He leaps confidently on top of a tall stool that rests in front of his designated workspace. The wooden table is cluttered with different test tubes and bottles and flasks, as well as some accessories and foods. A mirror stands at one end of the table so he can observe what happens. A notebook and a #2 pencil sits near the mirror, ready to record the results. The young Marvir is pleased to see that some thoughtfull person has left an open package of plastic straws for sampling potions. He hadn't been quite sure how he was going to drink the potions from those bottles that he couldn't lift (no hands, and all that), and the straws answered that question. Bwiff squawks scoldingly at himself. Enough dilly dally! He has work to do! He hops straight onto the table and picks up a straw in his mouth. He sidles up to the first flask, a long thin one with a bright green liquid inside, and drops the straw into it. Clamping onto his end of the straw, Bwiff takes a big slurp. It tastes oddly like celery. Yuck. He swallows, backs away from the flask, and turns to face the mirror. He chirps curiously as a patch of bright green appears on his side and spreads its way across the rest of him. Bwiff stares at the mirror and thinks for a moment. He feels all right, so there doesn't seem to be any side effects in that area. The color seems even, but he can't help but feel that he looks seasick. He gives a chittering chuckle. He looks funny in green. Still giggling, the green Marvir slides over to the notebook, picks up the pencil in his mouth, and writes the following entry: 10/8/07 Potion #1 (bright green): No side effects, gives an even, green coloration, tastes of celery. Bwiff nods with satisfaction and sets down his pencil. He tightens his ninja headgear so it won't fall off and turns to face the row of botttles and objects. On to the next one! He pulls out the used straw and drops it over the side of the table into the trash bin, and then picks up a new one. After slipping it into the next bottle, he takes a gulp of the pale yellowy liquid. He smacks his lips, making squishy noises. It sticks to the roof of his mouth like peanut butter and is hard to swallow, and tastes kind of like eggs. Still making noises, Bwiff turns to the mirror and watches as he turns... purple? He coos in confusion. The color is even, but he had been expecting to turn yellow. The Marvir shrugs and adds the results to his entry. Potion #2 (pale yellow): Sticky and hard to swallow, gives an even, dark, purple color, tastes of eggs. Bwiff grimaces. Celery and eggs didn't taste so well together. Bwiff sets down his pencil and closes the notebook. He would start trying the foods tomorrow and the accessories would be on the last day. He hops over to the stool and pauses to look at the mirror one last time. He sighs at the purple colored Marvir that looks back at him and then jumps to the floor. What would Mom say when he comes home purple? But what would Mom say when he comes home after three days with 700 Mali? Bwiff smiles and hops out the door, flicking off the lights on his way out.

((Well... I did post on two separate days, but maybe I was timezone'd. Erm. This isn't going to be a particularly incredible post, because I sort of finished off yesterday xD)
Realizing that today is her last day, Chirop yawns contentedly around the fresh bundle of posters in her mouth. She'll be glad to have this over with.
As she flutters around town, she decides that she really doesn't want to venture outside of Marville today. She is perfectly happy to spend her time coating the last of the public buildings in posters and slipping pamphlets under the doors of random homes, whether she thinks they are interested in the Beauty Contest or not. By the time she reaches the park, she is pleased to see that some of the previously placed posters have fallen or been ripped from their trees and bulletin boards and takes a few minutes to replace them. Seeing a couple of old ladies chattering nearby, Chirop draws on yesterday's experience and stares at them until they take the remaining pamphlets from her. She grins smugly. All done.

((Chirop makes me giggle. x3))
The door of the laboratory creaks open and the lights flicker on. Bwiff hops across the chilly floor towards his table, his teeth chattering helplessly. Was there a heater in here somewhere? The (still) purple Marvir leaps onto the table and looks at the food and the accessories, still waiting to be tested. Maybe he should try the accessories today, instead. He chirps affirmatively to himself. It has to be done somewhere along the line, and they look warm. He slides over to the first object, a brightly colored scarf. He tugs it a bit. The material is sturdy enough. He wraps it on and sighs. Ohhh, it's toasty. He smiles. It's not itchy like most scarves, either. He scurries over to the notebook and-- Plop! Bwiff gave a shocked squeak as he tripped over the tail of the scarf that dangled in front of him. The Marvir's smile droops. It's such a nice scarf, but it isn't much good when you're trying to move around. He opens his notebook and starts the entry of the day: 10/9/07: Scarf: Pleasantly warm, not itchy, strong material, but a bit of a tripping hazard. After setting down the pencil, Bwiff pulls off the scarf and sets it down where he got it. He moves over to the next item - a pair of blue socks. He looks curiously at the strange clothes. Being a Marvir, he has no feet and has never seen socks before. He picks them up and tries to put one on, but can't find a way to wear them. Five minutes later, he's quite frustrated with the odd accessories. He jumps, startled, as the janitor walks in to empty the trash can from last night. He notes the pair of puppy/bunny ears the other Marvir is wearing. Aha! Bwiff picks up the socks in his mouth and jumps to the floor. He squeaks to get the janitor's attention. The janitor turns and Bwiff slips the socks over his long ears. Bwiff asks him a few questions and adds to the entry. Ear covers: Cozy, doesn't fall off, a must for Marvirs with long ears! Bwiff retrieves the socks and thanks the janitor. He tries on a few more objects, recording each of them in turn. He smiles when his shift is over for the day. His teeth don't chatter any more, and he feels all warm and toasty from trying on all those accessories. Not a very strenuous job, but 700 Mali is nothing to sneeze at. The young Marvir hops to the floor, turns off the lights, and leaves the laboratory, humming happily.
