It doesn't look that bad, besides the purple on the top. It should be lighter, since the theme seems to be light colors. And it's not shaded at all. [/glow]

[/glow] The purple on top kind of irks me... it's right next to the orangey-red, which doesn't look good. An interesting note, from Neocolours, is that the poses aren't actually from the current Scorchio- they're from the ancient gradient-fill Scorchio that was redrawn! And, Sock, it is shaded- the artist just didn't pick out dark enough shades, and some of the shading positions are weird in relation to the ranbow bands, so it looks unshaded. Though, the illusion is strong enough that it might as well not have been shaded...

I agree about the purple but it looks good in its own...rainbow-ey way. 0_0

Hm... The purple does look like it's in the wrong place. Why does it have purple on its head and its feet instead of one or the other?
I tend to like Rainbow pets, and this one is fairly nice, but not spectacular. It's making me really wish for a Scorchio makeover, though...

No no no, this won't do at all. This looks like it could have been made years ago.
Scorchios, in my opinion, are rather mundane pets on the whole. When I think which pets to make my 'Times characters, I rarely even think of Scorchios. Generally they don't have any distinguishing characteristics. But a makeover -could- help with this.

That purple really irks me. Bleh. They could have done better. >_> I'm hoping for a Scorchio makeover too- considering they're one of the site's main-but-not-quite-main pets; meaning, you don't see famous ones like Jeran or Garin, but they show up a fair amount on their products in real life. Falcor, actually, Scorchios easily come to mind if I need a character. They're naturally biped, at a reasonable height (unlike Grarrls), a non-awkward body build, with wings, and they're dragons. Dragons are cool. And well, they're easier to fit into a villian role than, say, Quiggles. (imagine a smiley evil villian. Pfft.) Or I just like Scorchios.

To me, a Draik is a better Dragon than a Scorchio. Scorchios are all fat, whereas Draiks look sleek and lithe. Well, at least the mutant one ;P

XD Not to mention the whole standing-on-their-tail trick. And the slightly... oversized heads. *mauled by Draik owners* To each his/her own.

No, no, I agree, the tail thing bothers me too, and their heads do look rather goofy. My argument I guess would be that they get really awesome colors that overcome the basic design eccentricities (Maraquan, Mutant, Faerie, et al), whereas Schorchio redraw colors are mediocre at best.

I think that the thing is, while TNT has thought of an overall personality for Scorchios in general (firey, hot-headed little Neopets), the art generally doesn't show it. Though, there are some notable exceptions (like the beautiful frontpage image for Scorchio day)... I was playing around with Scorchio drawing, trying to change as little as possible besides giving it the personality TNT already attributed to it- here's what I came up with: (Okay, I'm seriously bad at the stomach area... but, other than that, what do you think?)

Yeah, I think I'd tend to agree. Scorchios actually probably have a lot of potential if they got a decent redraw. You're Scorchio looks kind of like Spyro. Cute!

The forehead seems a little... large, as the Scorchio's first two horns generally point forward, but I must say, that looks great. You've got some serious talent. And that front page rocks. ^^ TNT did a good job. Draiks are too skinny for me. XD Not to mention the whole standing-on-their-tail trick. Royalboy, Maraquan and Darigan. Decent enough for me.

No. Shading. I think it needs shading. The purple doesn't bother me so much but the lack of shading does.
