True. Very true. I think that's why most of my characters that use magic don't like it. A holdover of me disliking the use of magic unless it's needed. And making a system like that is something that I can't help but do, if I'm using one enough. xD .. I dislike perfect or clichéd systems of magic. Elemental control for one is far too overdone. The good thing about making such a system is that you can reuse it over and over if it's detailed enough. Elemental magic is easy to figure out. Unless you start playing with how everything relates to each other, and what the 'opposites' are. Then it could get complicated. But I still don't really use it, because there are other, more fun, kinds of magic.

Hmmm, I think it would be really interesting to come up with a completely original magic aspect. For example there's light magic, air, demonic, fire, ice, water, arcane, etc, but what about a new sort of magic that was none of those? That would sure be tricky to invent. That would be hard, though mostly because people have thought of a lot of different kinds of magic. One of the ones that I like is blood magic, though. People don't use it that much, and I can be overly gruesome, which has its own kind of fun.

What I do is take an existing form of magic that's rarely used, like in Kit's case I took tarot, and look at it and see how it can be entwined with another form of magic. I really want to try something with geomancy, or traditional cursing. The methods used in the latter are rather interesting.

There are only so many people that I can see using water before I start getting terribly bored of it. I like going for the obscure.

There's this branch of magic, Enochian magic, which I'd love to use properly in a roleplay someday, but it's terribly complicated. xD
