I'm with you on the part about being gleeful when I figure it out, yeah. ^^; Decryption puzzles like these tend to frustrate me more than anything else, but I can't seem to walk away without solving them. I like decryption or cryptography in general. :3 ..could never become a cryptographer though, those people are plain geniuses. And very, very patient, I'd wager. ^^; At least there are plenty of puzzles out there for a cryptography lover to occupy him or herself with. xD Supper. ^__^ I'll be back later.

I've always held a preference for Sci-fi. xD ..there's something about starfighter dogfights just captures me. Logic games? Yes, yes they are. ^^ True. But I tend to have more fun with magic. So many possibilities of how magic works, how people cast it, what kind of magic there is, what it costs.. xD And with mythological creatures. They could come up in sci-fi, true, but it's less likely. And they're less likely to have random cool traits. Though when something blends sci-fi and fantasy, that's the best. Which is why Star Wars is so awesome. ^^ ..magic is fun, because I end up researching real life magical traditions and lore and try to tie two different branches of magic together. The one thing that annoys me about magic is that it tends to get abused as a deus ex machina in roleplays.

xD .. no, she never told me anything, and I get random adds fairly often, so I treated you like I would any other person. At least you're better than the last person, she added me and asked me to roleplay yaoi with her. Which was scary. Scary indeed. And you didn't know this person? o.o EDIT: Slow? Yeah. I get moments where things are so slow I want a fast forward button on life. No. xD .. she just came out of nowhere and asked for it.

And magic isn't that hard not to abuse. You just need to figure out the limits of what your magic can do, and what it costs to use it. Which is fun.

But it's not hard to abuse either. xD ..and the lazier people find it easier to just abuse it. But yes, figuring out how your magic works can be very, very fun. ^__^ ..making your own system of how things work can be fun in general. Takes quite a bit of work, but it's fun.

I think that's why most of my characters that use magic don't like it. A holdover of me disliking the use of magic unless it's needed. And making a system like that is something that I can't help but do, if I'm using one enough.

*randomly pops into the conversation*
Oooh yea. I love the different interpretations of magic and making up rules for it. I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out just how my version of a werewolf works. This included many sketches trying to figure out the skeletal structure of a werewolf.

This included many sketches trying to figure out the skeletal structure of a werewolf. xD That would be fun. I end up rationalizing things so that they make sense to me, and hope that it makes sense to everyone else. And now I'm remembering the converstation I had with a friend about how magic works in a world we made. It was fun.

The good thing about making such a system is that you can reuse it over and over if it's detailed enough.

Hmmm, I think it would be really interesting to come up with a completely original magic aspect. For example there's light magic, air, demonic, fire, ice, water, arcane, etc, but what about a new sort of magic that was none of those? That would sure be tricky to invent.
