But foils, while technically a fencing sword, are harmless. So I'll ask them about it anyway. I doubt they'll care.

Mhm. From what I've read up on it, foils are not only the kind you start with, but also the best for just general practicing.

I can't fence at all yet, myself! But I'ma going to learn this year.
