Okay, perhaps it's time a refresher was posted on what conduct goes on in the 'bloids and what doesn't.
It's gotten out of hand as of late, people. I'm guilty of it, too. We all are. But seriously, it's just to the point where I'm suggesting it shape up or we get rid of them.
The tabloids used to involve just the relationships and "scandalous" things (I use the term loosely) happening. The worst that ever happened was people would go into the closets or bushes together. We avoided a whole thing of even going *snogs so-and-so* because that began to get too close to other areas that we shouldn't go into.
Now that's about as common as every other post it seems and some people like to take it much too further. It makes that show "Desperate Housewives" pretty tame, really.
So just follow some guidelines.
1. Used implied statements for anything worse than snogging. Things that could be taken many ways. For example, closeting people is fine. Because you could be having a tea party in the closet for all you know. Some of the slang we've picked up on (such as "kill") may be fine as well, because it's just a double entrende sort of thing...an innuendo. It doesn't have to mean any particular thing.
This doesn't mean that you can imply anything you want and get away with it. I could imply a whole lot of stuff and it wouldn't be fit for posting at all, ever. So use your best judgement. Don't get raunchy. Remember to stay pretty vague, because even implying things you can get pretty specific and we're not looking to do that here.
And don't get graphic with your descriptions. *snog so-and-so* is simple. We don't need to have all sorts of adverbs, adjectives and nouns coming from every which way to describe an action. I'm not saying EVERY action should be condensed down to its simplest forms...simply that certain TABLOID actions should be. There comes a point where even a post about a simply closed-mouth kiss would be too graphic, ya know?
2. If you question whether what you're posting should be posted at all, maybe you should rephrase it or maybe not post it to begin with.
3. Think before you do post. Ask yourself, "does this fit with the themes and guidelines for a family forum?". Yes, the tabloids go hormonal, but hormones do not control people entirely. Stop to think about things before it posts. And even in the tamest days, the tabloids may not fit with an ideal family forum because some parents would hate their very existence. But I think you know what we're getting at. There's a difference between saying something like *closets so-and-so* or *makes sweet passionate...* yeah, you see what I'm getting at. Kind of goes in the same vein as the not-too-graphic in descriptions above.
4. Just to reiterate, use GOOD JUDGEMENT
Yes, I know, even I slip up at times just like everyone else. Mods are only humans who have responsibility. We still slip up and make mistakes. But just because a mistake may be made here and there, it does not give free reign for anyone else to say "Well so-and-so did..."
Have fun, the 'bloids have become a lounge for kicking back and having fun...just remember that fun isn't limitless.
((Note to full mods/Spot/Mindy: Don't sticky this right away. Otherwise it'll get lost in the mental-filter of stickied threads...leave it be for a few days or so))
