Luck: Do You Believe In It?

Like Albert Einstein said, God doesn't role dice.

I believe that what humans percieve as "luck" is actually the result of a complex, often impercievable pattern, designed to keep the world rolling towards... something. God knows what. I don't.

I'm not superstitious. I think most of those superstitions are just common sense issues.

walking under a ladder - yep, not a good idea if there's someone standing on it. You could possibly knock it over or have someone/something fall on you

Opening an umbrella indoors - Well, you could hurt someone by suddenly popping it open in a small room.

breaking a mirror - Well, just think of all that glass, better clean it all up relly good or you'll be stepping in it for a few months

stepping on a crack - Well, if you're clumsy (or just drunk) there's a possibilty you could wedge your foot into a crack and trip.

It depends on what you mean by "luck," I guess. I certainly believe that sometimes several random good things happen to a person at once. I don't believe there's some kind of force behind it, and I certainly don't believe rabbits' feet, mirrors, or whatnot appease or displease this force.

*shrugs* Maybe "good luck" and "bad luck" are useful symbols, but they certainly aren't good things to depend on

I was made a believer of luck (or a miracle) last Thursday, when I narrowly missed receiving a double-whammy from when I couldn't stop for a red light and time, and slid right into the intersection. Could've hit someone in the intersection, and gotten rear-ended.

Sometimes things just seem to swing in our favor, on occasion. But then, if we considered bad things to be good, wouldn't we be hoping for bad things to happen to us?

Superstition doesn't exist. I have a black-cat, and nothing bad. But "luck" is more of just what happens to you. Somtimes its just random, but somtimes it is a long couse of what you did.

I believe in luck, sorta. It's kinda, we make our own luck happen. I really don't know how to explain it, but it's kinda how we hope, wish and dream. Or it's the negative energy-thingy. And it's those kind of things that make miracles happen, or disasters.
