I guess I just got tired of hearing on TV. "Prisoner dies in police custody" or "The police shto and killed him!" I think people forget that the police have to worry about our safety as well as our own. They put their lives on the line for us everytime they go to work. When they think you have a gun they shoot. Wouldn't you do the same thing. Its basic instinct. Even if the robber or whoever has a fake gun. why do people hold rallys and scream police brutality? With people critiziseing them for trying to protecting them they selfs? How is this fair?

I've seen way too many cases of cops abusing their 'power' and you have to admit that no not all of them do, but a vast majority does. Heck, even the rent a cops we got at Disney abuse their power acting like they can REALLY do anything to someone when they cant even touch you. So, I suppose it depends. It's unfair to say ALL cops are awful and jerks because a few idiots do make it difficult for the rest to trust.
I think it's all fair if they shoot someone that does pull a weapon regardless if it's a fake or not. I see nothing wrong either with a murder being shot and killed. If you do the crime then to me you lose your rights, but what bothers me is the people that get the snot beat out of them because they ran a red light and were doing all they could to comply with the police.
Gotta remember one thing, sometimes those that rally against some necessary of police force are the same fools that rally against the death penalty of someone that killed hundreds of women or children.

I highly doubt a majority of cops abuse their power. If they did, it would be a bigger issue than it is. Sure there are corrupt cops, of course there are, they're only human. But people make far too big of a deal. A cop does something bad, there's all this media coverage, a huge amount of finger pointing, denial of wrongdoing, promises of discipline... A cop gets killed there's something along the line of, "Oh, too bad, but heck, it's part of the job."

It IS true that many cops abuse their powers. In fact, our newly elected mayor promised to abolish all bad police with poor performance. ;D I just hope he does.
Picture this: In our newspapers there are usually reports of police losing their badges and authority for abusing their powers by doing drugs and stuff like that.
If police are supposed to protect us, then why are they not protecting themselves and setting good examples?
(I know I don't make much sense, I'm only a budding debater) ;D

Of course there are bad cops. Cops that will lie, cops that will abuse their power and responsibility, cops that will give other cops a bad name... There are a lot of those, certainly, but that doesn't mean a majority are. A lot of teenage girls are going out and getting pregnant. It's a big problem. But does that mean that most of us are? No. A lot of adult males go out and commit crimes, also a big problem. Does that mean most of them are? Also no. Does anyone think that the New Yorker who goes out and guns somebody down over some gang dispute or something is thinking about the reputation of the state of New York? I doubt it.
We can't control the behaviour of our compatriots, as much as we'd like to. I can't stop the teenagers who go out and dress innapropriately and do stupid things anymore than the good policemen can stop those that are corrupt. Sure they can protect themselves by setting good examples, but there are bad apples in every bunch, and no matter how good the rest of the apples are, the one that gives you food poisoning is the one you're going to get sued over.
I have utmost faith in our police officers.

I have utmost faith in our police officers. I can't agree more. We all have flaws and apparently some officers choose to abuse their power. But still when you look at them as a whole you don't see them whacking some one with nightstick everyday. The media tends to have a field day with those cases. I mean when have they ever did a story on officer safety?
