I submitted this yesterday and it got in today. Not exactly a new piece though but I'm still super excited as it is my first time in the AG. Late, but major congratulations on getting in! ;D I saw that picture a while back and really liked it, so I'm glad it got its deserved place in the gallery! The way you've stylized them is really appealing -- I really like those stubby bodies and big heads and wide-set eyes. The blended shading works really well too. Baww, so jealous of all you people. xD; I guess I'm not talented enough. Aw. xD; It's not really talent so much as practice and (in the AG's case) luck. I think the patterns in your picture are cool, but the problem might have been that it doesn't specifically look like a Neopet. xD; EDIT3: So, didn't get in. Piece with extremely similar composition did. Is it alright to be just a little bit upset? I can definitely see my flaws and where I need to improve, but still..... I'm sorry; it's frustrating when that happens. I like the way you've posed the Lutari in that picture, with its body and tail curling so smoothly, and the whole mood of it. You just have to keep trying; the AG can be pretty hit-or-miss about who gets in. There's a lot of luck involved, and I wouldn't be surprised if the judge figured it was just a toss-up between yours and the other picture, and happened to pick the other one. -- Sent this for Kougra Day (but forgot Linae's blue markings on the version I submitted -- d'oh! pretty mad at myself for that, because the headband is the only other place where that blue is used):

Alyssa, that's a really cute and funny idea. xD Good luck! -- Meanwhile, I think I'm currently AG-banned or something. [/severely overdramatic interpretation of having not gotten in the past two times] [/spoiled brat] Sent this for Tyrannian Victory Day anyway.

Grats to everyone who has gotten in lately . I will have to take my time to look through this thread later.. it's HUGE! But I check the AG all the time so I love seeing stuff I recognize xD. These are my most recent entries that have gotten in: --- Edit: something is wrong with my koi's face and I can't figure out what. By the way, if anyone has any helpful critiques I'd love to hear from you. I'll probably make a thread later on, but just throwing that out there. --- Alyssa, that's a really cute and funny idea. xD Good luck! -- Meanwhile, I think I'm currently AG-banned or something. [/severely overdramatic interpretation of having not gotten in the past two times] [/spoiled brat] Sent this for Tyrannian Victory Day anyway. Also, Nut, I AM A HUGE FAN OF YOUR ART. You need to teach me some skillz :3

A thing that got in for Fyora Day: A thing that didn't get in for Petpet Appreciation Day: Also, Nut, I AM A HUGE FAN OF YOUR ART. You need to teach me some skillz :3 Haha, wow, thank you! I'm glad you like my stuff. Your art is great too--I really like the amount of detail and atmosphere you put into your work. I particularly like the poses of the pets in your Tyrannian Victory Day picture--the Eyrie's folded arms and the way it's lying on its side and tilting its head comes across as very relaxed and natural. I like the composition of your Koi picture, with the very simple silhouetted reeds and grass framing the corners of the vignette and setting off the detailed rendering of the rest of the picture. The tones get a little close together with all the different layers of shading, though, so that might be something to watch for. About the face, I think it's because the nose is skewed a little to the side.

Ohh, that makes more sense now! Thank you so much for the comments and advice ^.^ I find it so hard to get anatomy, angles, and features right sometimes--I always feel like something looks awkward but I can't quite pinpoint it. I try to make up for my lack of basic life-drawing skills with ambiance and overall completeness. I think that's why I usually spend more time than others on details and background, because i feel like it covers up my weaknesses xD. Also, new entry from Fyora day: I'm glad I really put the time and effort into this, since my last few were super rushed and I wasn't happy with the koi or yurble drawings. The fyora day entry was a nightmare, even just getting the sketch done. I have soooo much trouble drawing people T__T.

I really like how your Fyora Day entry came out! I think all the effort you put into it paid off; the atmosphere is fittingly light, airy, and delicate. I like how the castle in the distance is highlighted around the edges by the sun behind it, and the purple shadows on it. My favorite part, though, is the textures; you really put a lot of effort into capturing the materials that all of Fyora’s props are made of, and it shows. I like the bright highlights and dark shadows on the glass/metal objects, the subtle shine on her dress ribbons, the shading on the folds of fabric, and the translucent look of her wings; you really got all the different textures to come across beautifully. Anatomy takes a lot of practice to learn and it’s definitely hard at first; I’ve only just started figuring it out myself. (And most of the art I’ve posted online is from before I started, i.e. not good examples.) Looking at this picture, it seems like you were probably using reference for the pose, which is great; having reference is the first thing needed to get anatomy right. And I think you captured her attitude very well, but it looks like there were a few technical inconsistencies with the pose, so it looks a little unnatural. (Take my corrections with a grain of salt because I'm no expert; this is just what I've been able to make of it based on reference I've been able to find, and the alternate pose I drew is definitely not the only possible option; you could probably find a way to keep her head tilted down a little and still get the effect of her face. Sketches are rough and imperfect.) Congratulations on getting in for Fyora Day; you deserved it! My recent entries that got in for Nimmo Day and Kau Day: Entry for Acara Day:

First time in what, five months? ;u; To top it, I got a Shadow Paint Brush, which is going to help a lot. I hid four of the Altador constellations in the sky -- The Sleeper, the Theif, the Wave, and the Protector. Try to find them if you want.
