My photoshop story

For the past year or so, I've been using photoshop 5.5. It is a legal copy, my neighbor upgraded to 6.0 and let me install the old version on the condition that it only goes on my computer and she keeps the CD. Then she moved. Then I had to reformat my hardrive. Obviously, I lost photoshop.

I won't get into the reformating, that was a nightmare in of itself. All I can say is Bill Gates is an evil evil man and deserves to be beaten to death with toothpicks.

Anyways, I decided to buy photoshop 5.5 since it surely has dropped in price and I have birthday money to spend. Well... I can't find it. Anywhere. Adobe is sitting there going, "hah hah, you can't buy it from us anymore - you have to buy 7.0 for only 500 something!" So I remember my computer expert friend saying he got 7.0 for free over kaza. After making sure there was no way to get a legal copy of 5.5 (I like that program!) I went ahead and downloaded kaza. *guilty twinge* It took nearly five hours to download the thing. I gave up on waiting on it around 11 pm, went to sleep, woke up at 4 am (gah!) and found out it was almost done. I tried getting back to sleep but that failed so I messed around on neopets until it finished downloading around 5 am. I installed it, and then turned the computer off, got breakfast, and went to school. And here I am now, awake only through the joy known as frappacino. (that stuff is sooo good)

I'm going to install my scanner tonight so I can get caught up on art trades. I have two so far, and a bunch of other piccys I made for people and myself. I have a koi, a shoyru (with armor and a halbard!), MoonFall, Eair, oddhatter's gelert, a really messed up Al, and Padiglione. I just got a thin sharpie the other day and am inking over my pencil drawings. I like the sharpie.

And I just remembered I forgot my canvas at home. Darn it darn it darn it.... I've been dying to try painting with a palette knife and now I can't cause I don't have my canvas.... arghhh.... I'll just sit and draw more neopets today I guess.

Wow, that is a long post. *falls asleep on keyboard*

Yes, well, my bro downloads illegal stuff too. That's why I don't like him that much; he wont listen to me. He downloaded Adobe Photoshop (not sure which one), and I'm not using it. I think we've gotten a few games, too . . . But anyways, I'll yell at him, he'll listen. Yes . . . he'll listen good . . .

Well, I used to care *a lot* for whether or not the stuff I had was legal but after a while, it kind of... well...

You see, there are stuff I don't mind buying because I know for sure the product is good and I will enjoy it, but as for other things... With Cds, I will only buy a few, and that is if the artist pass my "test", which consists of downloading 3 or 4 songs from that album, then if I like all of them, then I will like the cd as well, and I buy it. If I only like one, I'll just keep the download and don't give a darn about the cd.

The same with games. Why would I spent 10 euro in a stupid Theme Hospital game if I knew I'd be sick of the game in a week or so? So I had a friend copying it for me. And I was right, I did get sick of the game. Now with The Sims, I have three legal copies (The Sims, Living Large and Unleashed) and three illegal copies (House Party, Hot Date, Vacation). If the darn things weren't so expensive, I know I'd have them all legal, but the games people seem to have no idea that 50 euros is too much to spend in a game... And that's when those illegal copies show up. I payed, what, about 2 euros for each of my "not so legal" copies, and 65 for the three legal copies. I think 65 is enough...

Basically, I spent all this space just to say that illegal copies aren't that big of a deal, it just depends on whether or not they are affordable and if their quality is good enough.
