Congrats on the prizes, Kat! Good luck with NQII. ^^ I finally picked up NQII Insane again after dropping it because of the level grind for Zombom. I fought him at Level 12 and kept using potions nearly every time Rohane got hit for any amount of damage, but Zombom got two turns in a row once and knocked his HP down into the red zone for a moment. ; It was a good thing I brought along five Blast Potions because Rohane's normal attacks weren't hitting for much damage, but those ran out pretty soon and Zombom kept healing himself. I had put a bunch of skill points into Critical Attacks in the hope that fights would go faster, but I'm beginning to think I should have just gone with the usual plan of maxing Damage Increase. But I won the fight and now I have Mipsy, which makes things much easier. I put five skill points into Innate Melee Defense right away to make her less susceptible to enemy attack. It seems to make a difference; she doesn't seem as weak as I remember. I didn't realize what an issue gold would be on Insane. I never used to think anything of going into a shop and buying upgrades, but now I can barely afford any of them without fighting hordes of monsters first. I'm at Level 14 and am in the Eye of Meridell, but was only able to buy one defense upgrade for Mipsy (I'm paranoid about having her die in battle).

Thanks, Nutnut. ^^ *recently resent JN staff application due to...ah, some deficiencies* >_> And sweet, you're back and back into NQII! *glomps*
Prices are more InSaNe on InSaNe, and you get less gold, yes. *pat pat* But you'll get through.

Speaking of Mipsy's equipment, I'm wondering whether it's worth upgrading her wand for 3 more Dmg at the cost of 1 level in Direct Damage.
What do you guys usually do?

My Neoquest II game is looking a bit odd -- the color in the HP and EXP bars is centered, and some of the text during battle is also centered. Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe I should send in a bug report.

Frozen - the dmg rate for Mipsy's and Velm's weapons doesn't matter to me, since they almost never use melee attacks. What you should go for are the skill boosts. For example, I would choose a wand with a boost in Haste over Slowing. You pick these babies up from boss and (in Evil and InSaNe) monster battles.
Craig - Really? Nuts. Good idea.
Be2aware - you should go for it. =D Now that you have the avatars, there isn't much between you and a new trophy now.

Yeah, I was expecting that. I wasn't sure if dmg was used while calculating DD damage but since it's not, I'll keep her current wand for now. :3

The only two things that determine your DD are 1) level of the skill and 2) Mipsy's HP. If you have Obliterate while Mipsy still hasn't broken 100 HP, she will only be able to do damage equal to her current HP.

It's nice to see you still around this board. ^^ I'm taking the cautious approach to this InSaNe game and am planning to do a lot of level grinding between bosses, so hopefully that'll let me build up a stock of gold. There's nothing to do now except navigate trees, though--getting to the Hermit is awfully annoying.

Nut - This board lives and dies. XD When it's alive, you can be sure I'll be around.
Keep going! And yes, those trees are annoying. >_> Can't I just chop and blast them out of my way, dangit?

Maybe I should send in a bug report. Finally someone who has exactly the same problem as me! It makes playing really annoying. I'm 99% sure that this is a remainer of the bug that messed up my whole layout maybe a week ago. I could only see half of my neopet on the left side of the screen, the other half was hidden. At the same time, all forum entries were suddenly centred. The graphics are alright again, but the centred boards remain and NQ II is centred as well. If it annoys you too much to play, try switching to a different browser. It works just fine for me in FF.

Hermit: *meditating* Rohane: *swings sword* HYAAAH! *row of trees collapses* CRASH! Hermit: *dives out of the way* Aaugh! Mipsy: *climbs over the mess* Hi, mister! Tell me about the lost city! Hermit: YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN! I'm heading towards Phorofor now. Mipsy just picked up a scored wand from an enemy on the way. ^^ Edit: Entered Phorofor at Level 15 and beat the Sand Grundo at Level 16. What an easy fight; Mipsy only had to cast DD three times.

Nut - That would so totally make a great comic!
And keep going! =D For this part and Terror Mountain, Mipsy is really unstoppable with her spells. ^^ Make the most out of it till she's eclipsed by Rohane and Talinia.

And keep going! =D For this part and Terror Mountain, Mipsy is really unstoppable with her spells. ^^ Make the most out of it till she's eclipsed by Rohane and Talinia. Haha, good idea--maybe I'll find a way to use it when I do an NQII story arc in my comic. Not that I have plans for that. *shifty eyes* I still haven't finished the comic arc that I started over a year ago. XD; Mipsy is indeed awesome early in the game. The battles are amazingly easy for me this time because I keep overleveling for everything. I fought the first Ramtor at Level 19 and all he did was heal, try to attack Rohane and miss, and then run away without doing any damage. XD Edit: *doesn't want to double post* And Act I is complete! Ramtor was a pushover at Level 22, and so was the Leximp. I didn't go back to rest in Chia Oscuro; I haven't been using the inns at all since I left White River. I get enough potions from battles to sustain the party during training, and the HP refills they get from leveling up have the same effect as an inn anyway. It's really annoying me that Mipsy and Rohane don't level up at approximately the same time. This bugs me every time I play the game, but usually I just figure it's inevitable that characters will die and the EXP will get out of sync. I'm going to make a point of getting Talinia right after Rohane's gained a level in an attempt to sync their EXP meters. I get to fight Ice Krawks now. They're awesome. Edit: Oh, Talinia starts out with EXP in her meter. There's no way to sync them, I guess. D:

XD
I suppose you could say Ramtor epically failed, yes? XD He IS a fail boss, even if it's fun writing about him. Congrats; four chapters to go!
It's hard to sync EXP levels - if that's even possible! Whenever you pick up characters, the chances of them having the exact same EXP as your current party are pretty slim. Like, really, really slim. Closest I've got was Rohane and Mipsy being within 4 experience points of each other. Then Mipsy died and it went totally out of sync. Ah well.
