True, Patjade, about the servers. Or at least I thought so until recently. The many times the site has been down combined with the fact that nothing has changed by the time it comes back up makes me think that they're actually getting faulty again.
But who knows. I was mostly using that so that I wouldn't offend anyone by saying they won't do it because it would be a ton of work and they are lazy.

They have also gotten in a large influx of more dedicated users. I notice it starts going down just after midnight (NST), or right about when most of the US is waking up, and very often on the holidays and weekends. Maybe the DO need to get another server or two online to handle the peak loads.

Oooo...old topic.
Personally, I think the pound issue would be a lot better of pets just didn't appear in the "random search" immediately after abandonment. Even a ten minute time period, where the pet can only be adopted through a name search, would help a ton (and shouldn't be that difficult to implement). After that time period - it's fair game.

A bit odd really... I do hate it when the servers go down...

I agree with all of Karma's bad points about that idea.
Neopets should just set up something where you can transfer pets, they'll Email a code to you and you can take your pet out at any time. After 60 minutes your pet will be taken out automatically...(not in the pound though, that way if the site goes down your pet will go back to you, and if you're hacked, you can take your pet out if they haven't traded it yet)
with a warning at the bottom telling people not to trade NP/items for a code, and if they do, it's their fault if they're scammed.
