\ *isn't big into Anime... but* I belive Yu-Gi-Oh has something to do with egypt, doesn't it? Yes. According to the show, Duel Monsters was originally played for high stakes with magical stone tablets in ancient Egypt. Maximillian Pegasus created cards fashioned after the tablets and turned it into a game. Yugi's Millenium Puzzle contains the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharoh, known as Yami or Yu-Gi-Oh, who had locked away the power inside the ancient dueling tablets because it was too powerful. Not like this is at all relevant, or that any of you care.

Actually, I think it's iris as in the purple flour that looks like it has four heads. Flour is the stuff you bake with. Flower is the bit on a plant that later turns into fruit. An iris can be either a kind of flower, "a rainbow or rainbow-like display of colors" (yay for dictionary.com!), or a thing in your eye--but it's the colorful bit, not the black bit. The black bit is the pupil.

Iris was also the rainbow goddess and a messenger of the gods in Greek mythology.

Even so, I'd like to hear about those creative Portuguese names... now you've aroused my curiosity... Okay, let me list a few that don't exist: Ado (I'd pity the poor litle boy named like this...) Tane Ilhazul (LOL, this is one MUST be a joke!) Elvido Jo Absidiola (ROTFLMAO) Aelah Valdinete Enes Meiguinha (LOOOOOOOOOOOL) Puntofas (So creative, so funny!) And a few that are funny unexistant variations Affomso (It's Afonso) Symaao (It's Simão) Jhorge (Take the h out...) Tareyja (Oh my, this is the reaaaally old spelling for Teresa, no one uses this anymore...) Caterina (Never name your daughter like this, it's actually a sinonymm for prostitute... )

Neomail 'pookabunny19', she's a dictonary on Egypt. All her pets are named after the gods/goddess. Besides one though. But Ma'at was the goddess of truth and justic. You can use my desert ixi, well, she'll be desert when I get the brush. Her name is Maatbeauty if you want to use her!!! ^.^

I used to be like that, too. I'm just into the egiptian culture a lot, it's awesome what those guys did! I used to know all the gods and all, but well... other things have taken up my memory...

Here's a little piece of "Egyptian name" trivia:
My brother and his wife has two cats, both of them named after major Egyptians - the female cat is Bastet, the Egyptian cat god of contentment, and the male cat is Ramses, an Egyptian king.
Another little thing you might like to know is that both my Aisha (bludragn3 account) is named Bastet and Darkmoon's Angelpuss (once again, bludragn3 account) is named Ramses. Bastet is just like her cat counterpart - whiny and can't be without her owner - and Ramses is just like his cat counterpart - loving but a bit hyperactive.
And so ends my totally off-topic lecture.
