I'm working on a story that takes place, for the most part, in the Lost Desert. A couple of main original characters are supposed to have Sakhmet-ish/Egyptian-sounding names. Do "Anuket" and "Khusu" sound like they could be from the Lost Desert? (Anuket was a goddess in Egyptian mythology; Khusu was adapted from an Egyptian god's name because the original name was a Petpet. )

They sound great to me! Here are some more I found: Horemheb, Akhanton, Nefertiti, Nefertiri, Senmut, Amenhotep... but I guess you can make up anything that sounds like that and it will be convincing.

Hatshepsut, Osiris, Isis, Ra, Amen-Ra, Khufu, Hathor, Thoth, Bast, Zoser, Shu, Tefenet, Nut, Nun, Geb...
I could rattle on and on with names of Egyptian gods, pharoahs, and so on, but I'm sure this with Stone's list will suffice. Sorry if these are repeats of names already used on Neopets.
However not all residents of the Lost Desert have Egyptianized names. For example, King Coltzan III once rescued a princess called "Light Foot", although that might have been a translated name, or she was not from the Lost Desert in the first place (though Coltzan supposedly rescued her during the time of isolation)

Some of those are Yu-Gi-Oh monsters. . . That only goes to show that they use the same techniques to get names.

Nice, but how acurate are those? I checked the portuguese names section and let me just tell you someone was feeling creative when they wrote that!

I think for the purposes of finding Egyptian-sounding names for characters in a Neopets story, that accuracy isn't really that important though, is it? As long as they sound about right, it's not really likely someone will look up the names to make sure they are authentic. I know if I was doing a report for school I would care about the accuracy of my information, but this is just for fun, right? I just thought it was a cool kinda challenge to see what I could come up with. Even so, I'd like to hear about those creative Portuguese names... now you've aroused my curiosity... anyway, I typed Egyptian names into the search thingy too and got a archeological site or something...

Nice, but how acurate are those? I checked the portuguese names section and let me just tell you someone was feeling creative when they wrote that! Most of those names are "user subimtted". My friend and I would always send it dumb names of our made up characters, just to laugh when they got up.. Some of them are cursewords in disguse as well. It's really amusing. ^_^

^^ Thankies, everyone. I tried babynames.com, but I didn't like any of the Egyptian ones listed. Bleh. There're a lot of names they took from Egyptian mythology and made into petpets...Khusu was originally Khonsu, but then I checked and found out that they'd named a petpet that... Yeah, it doesn't need to be accurate; I'm mostly looking for the right sound. Thankies for all the help
