Our first day off was the Monday of Christmas week. Why didn't they just give us the full two weeks off like they should? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

actually it never comes out on saturday.. it comes out on sunday.. and sometimes even monday Huh? It comes out on Saturday all the time. It's supposed to come out on Friday. When it comes out on Sunday, (which has been more and more often lately *mutters* Donna), it's really late, and Monday is officially obscenely late.

I got some stuff in...um...an article I wrote weeks ago, wasn't much room. It was actually supposed to be a response to What About...Neopoints or whatever that thing Jamezbfod got on the front page a few weeks ago... I hope it's not a rebuttal. As you might have guessed by now, I chimerically hate Times rebuttals, and jamezbfod and I are very related. But you said it's a response, so I'll hope it's only that.

Ergh... how long does Josh's holiday have to last? Mine ended yesterday. They sent us back on Friday. Slave drivers. I really want to see that issue, it has my very first article in it. Yay! If anybody would like to read it when it comes out, it's called A Modest Proposal. It's kind of a Neopets take-off of Johnathon Swift's A Modest Proposal. But I doubt very many people will get the joke. I will enjoy collecting the hate mail.

In case any of you are wondering : He is one of my favourite satirists of all time, but oh boy, Erica, if you get the response he did, you'll be replying to hatemail all day. I considered writing a parody of that once - but I'm glad you did! I'm definitely looking forward to it! By the way, Josh's vacation HAS ended...it's just up to Donna to put up the editorial and release the NT for public consumption(ergh, considering my previous paragraph, that was a bad pun...)...

Poor Swift. Gulp. Poor me. Ah well, I'm glad some people will understand and -hopefully- like it. This brings the total of understanding people up to... uhh.. one... oh, dear.
How much hate mail did Swift get?

Actually, "A Modest Proposal" didn't draw much of an immediate reaction at the time it was published.
But I'm sure there were more than a few people who didn't get the joke.

Yes, we read the original essay in English class... nobody got the joke, they took it so seriously. One girl even challenged the teacher's ethics for making us read it.

It's barely even a response. Let's just say...his article provided inspiration. Have you noticed nearly (NEARLY) all NP guides are identical? Bugs me. I saw his thing and decided to write. So not a rebuttal, I hate those too. The NT isn't a place to argue...

The NT isn't a place to argue... Yes, I can see that some people have been using the Neopian Times to debate rather than to write helpful articles. Not all people, but a few.

I haven't noticed that much... except maybe that never-ending debate on how to spell and/or write correctly for the Times. There's a lot of that. What's there to debate, anyway?

What's there to debate, anyway? Let's see...there was that big rally about the Beauty Contest. Some say it's publicity, some say it's talent. Whatever. Also, that stupid Chia/Lupe debate that was resurected a number of weeks back. I know it's fun in our imaginations, but they're just pictures people! Like I said, I hate rebuttals.

All rebuttals in principle, or just bad rebuttals (which are unfortunately a majority) EDIT : And what's the official difference between a rebuttal and a response?

Maybe someone should start keeping statistics of what day of the week the NT comes out - it would be interesting to see the trends. The NT has come out on every day of the week - Tuesday, Thrusday, and yes, I think it even came out on Wendsday once.
