I think this is a great forum, and I would still attend frequently if all of the following advice is ignored or if everyone else disagrees with me.
This is something which has been bothering me for a while. I can't tell that much difference between the Teaching Tips and How to Get Published sections, and the Work Reviews and Work in Progress sections. None of them are that large compared to some of the other sections, so I was wondering if there could be merges. I could also see the Personal Touch and Grammar Usage & Style sections being part of some merges.
Also, while I like some of the new categories, I think it's getting a bit too cluttered. I don't like scrolling down the page too much for categories, and I feel the General group should be just below the Neopia group instead of have "Ask an Author" and "The Editor's Mark" in between. I would prefer it there were some merges.
I wouldn't mind that much if nothing was altered, but it would be nice if it could be changed a little.

I kind of agree. Many people have been using the Work Reviews as a Work in Progress, and...things do get mixed up and cluttered. Teaching and Tips and How to Get Published...yes, they are almost the same thing. You teach and give tips about how to be a better writer, therefore teaching you how to get published. However, the Grammar Usage and Style and the Personal Touch I think should be kept separate. The Personal Touch is asking personal questions--for instance, as the description reads, "why Harry is a Grarrl", favorite characters, etc., and the Grammar Usage and Style is more where people can ask questions about their style or any grammar questions they have. Those two are separate, but others can be quite easily merged.

I wasn't suggesting merging Personal Touch and Grammar & Stuff together, but that maybe one, the other, or both could be merged into the pool of other merging topics as they are pretty small.
Edit : For example, I could see the Grammar & Stuff topic getting a merge with the Teaching Tips, although I think there is less similarity than with Teaching Tips and How to Get Published

I agree with what you said, Sara, besides the Personal Touch/Grammar and Usage merger.
I don't think the Advertisements board is particularly relevant, though. It might be better lumped with another board or, maybe, removed. The Homework Help board I don't really see much need for, either.
I think the RP board is a nice addition. The OT board had been taken over with roleplaying (which is only a negative as it obscured the other off-topic messages).
Edit: Oh. Yes, I can see Grammar and Usage being merged with Teaching and Tips and Publishing Tips...

I agree that there isn't much necessity for the Advertisement board, but it's at the bottom of the page, so i don't care too much about it. However I am growing to like the Homework Help section, and I'd like it to be moved further up.

Some of the boards should be merged, I agree. Select boards are pretty much the same concept with different names. I only check the general and lobby boards anyway...well usually. (bad me! )

Hum. *nods* Well, now the boards are slightly changed . . . does that mean anything?

FM (forum mail) shidi and suggest some topic merges. I would've never thought of a Homework Help board, but it's a good idea and is logical--while we're doing nothing, why not do something?

OK, I can understand, I'll just email you a transcript of this entire discussion so everyone's comments and replies gets in. I'm assuming that, since everyone posted here on the forum, they don't mind if I send their comments back to Shidi (and I will give you credit)
