Okay, I resent 'Flames: Solo Mission' to Felicia again, so you should have. Now, it was rejected from Issue 100, and I'm pretty sure I know why... because it has hacking in it. So, I'm going for Issue 101 now, but I'm going to have to be quick. I NEED the hacking in it, but is there any way I can tone it down so that it's acceptable enough? The hacking part is only a build up, so it's semi-important. I need it to have a story, but I can edit it a lot if needed.
Thank-you.

The Great Buddy believes it would be ok, unless it provides with explicit, direct, and very useful info on how to hack. Just having hacking in it shouldn't matter, unlless it doubles as a how-to manual for potential hackers.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it even was the hacking that got me rejected... but that's what I think. Maybe I overdid it a it. ; Edit: By saying how everything was gone, they were all shocked, blah blah, scene with hacker, etc.

I would say, don't use the word "hacker" or "hacking" and you might be okay. Darrell said before that the reason hacking wasn't allowed in stories was because people supposedly can't be hacked on Neopets. Whether or not that's true, you just have to find creative ways to describe the hacking-- what it would be like for the pets (and you?) from inside the game-- without directly saying that you were hacked.

Thanks Tdyans... I'll probably get rid of the word "hacking" or anything like that and replaced it with something else, probably "scammed" because I'm lazy. Then i guess I'll fire it off with Researchers. ^_^;

hacked is when someone gets inside of your accound and takes control of all your stuff... so perhaps you can just have a random person break into your neohome, kidnapping your pets and taking control of your bank account. If later in the story you get the stuff back *if it even is you who is hacked 0o* Well then you can explain howthe hacked either ran off before being caught, or was captured and arrested *frozen*or you can add a pun about going to the coldest parts of terror mountain. if something happens to the pets, it can be like they were tied up and thrown into a back alley by the kidnapper and you could never find them. Well anyways, that was a long bit or stuff. Well it probally is pretty useless, but I hope it helps anyhow

Those are good suggestions of what I meant by finding a "creative" way to describe the hacking and thus get around your problem.

Actually, the hacking is in the beginning and that's it, and I don't even say that he was in my account. I just start off the story with everything except my pets gone.

That's the point! ^-^ then you can use the same word, and not get in truoble! ^..^ Umm... no. A story has to be understandable, I have fans who read my stories, they might not understand it and I'll get annoying neomails asking what the word means when I don't even know it myself. I don't see what good it'll do.

That's the point! ^-^ then you can use the same word, and not get in truoble! ^..^ Hakingu. It's just 'hacking' but written differently. Most technical terms are loanwords. If Teghan uses a Japanese word to 'get around' something, she risks alienating her readership, and it could just be confusing.
