I was just wondering something, I was looking at a rejected email I had and I saw that short stories should be 1500 words long.
I was just wondering, how do they count those words without having to point a finger at the screen and count them manually? If they do it manually, how do they have time for the other stories?

They probably plug it into Microsoft Word, or something, and select Word Count from the "Tools" menu. That's what I do, at any rate. How long did it take for you to get a reply after you sent in the story? I've been waiting for a while now...

I haven't sent my story in yet.

Okay, I managed to get on my brother's computer and turn in a copy of my file to my brother's. I did my scanning there.
7 pages 2671 words 11920 characters without spaces 14992 characters with spaces 6 paragraphs (for some reason) 310 lines.
I think that would qualify for a series.

Yup. I sent in a six-part series. It's probably around 6000-7000 words total.

Nah, that's a fine length for a short story. 1500 words is just a *minimum*. As long as you're under 3000 words, I wouldn't think of changing it to a series.
