It's time for another round of "What Should the Next Collab Theme Be?"
Post your ideas down below and we'll compile them over the next 2 weeks or so. The poll will run for about a week and then by March we'll have our next theme ready to go!

As for my own suggestion, more of an april fools one but:
- Sloth Propaganda Paper / Sloth Takes over the NT
What I'd love to see though is something similar to Brightvale University that does some collective world building, but I can't think of anything so far.
I'm also still feeling the over-themed saturation crunch still, so I while I think Sloth Takeover would be fun, I'd prefer something that any regular series could easily work with.

I think Ajax is referring to a conversation we had in Discord about AI-generated writing. Herdy said AI-generated stuff can still be distinguished from human writing as of now, because he fed his own NT oeuvre into the machine and told it to generate something along the same lines, and it came up with a weird piece about Tea for Kadoaties. So that was pretty funny  I am feeling rather weary though from the oversaturation of themed issues, like Keng said, so if there has to be another themed issue I’d prefer if it was something really easy to get on board with, like bananas. (I already finished my April Fool’s piece, hehe. It didn’t require too much effort to throw a banana into it.) |

As Steph pointed out, the Kad one was a bit tongue in cheek. Machines in motion was a suggestion that aimed to cover the minor change in NT rules that allowed mention of cars etc, whilst also keeping is sufficiently broad to capture other areas of interest - such as Moltara mining machinery, Altador observatory machinery; even an usul ski lift! |

Machines in motion sounds really fun to work with! I love Moltara and its steam-punkiness, and aesthetically it would be a nice change from the more "classic" themes of the last few issues like the holidays and the sea!

Machines in motion would definitely allow me to go deeper into how cloud racers work and incorporate a cloud racer mechanic character that has many faerie clients.
Another idea I had was a theme about the “staff” that keeps various things we do afloat. Not like TNT staff but like… the folks who work at the Hidden Tower, the Employment Agency, the bank, etc. It’s impossible that one individual is doing all the work.… maybe we call this “Neopets On The Clock”.

Machines in motion would definitely allow me to go deeper into how cloud racers work and incorporate a cloud racer mechanic character that has many faerie clients. Another idea I had was a theme about the “staff” that keeps various things we do afloat. Not like TNT staff but like… the folks who work at the Hidden Tower, the Employment Agency, the bank, etc. It’s impossible that one individual is doing all the work.… maybe we call this “Neopets On The Clock”. Ooh. I like that. The back room staff for the Igloo Garage sale, restocking shops etc. |

The Sea You know, I'm looking through this list (thank you Kengplant for posting it) and I'm wondering if maybe we should consider making some contemporary themes, going off the idea if these were successful maybe similar ideas would be too. So some ideas I'm potentially seeing: * Cheering The Workers (Villains and Heroes may be larger than life, but let's not forget about all the hardworking characters who help run the site: Shopkeepers, Daily hosts, Quest givers, the Skeith Banker, Money Tree, Gelert Doctor, etc.)
* The Underground (We've talked about the sea and skies, but there is much going on beneath the land surface too! Moltara, Haunted Wood's Catacombs, the tunnels connecting Terror Mountain with Tyrannia, the valley hidden in Shenkuu's mists; there's plenty of unexplored ground) * Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow (Reunions are great, but before then it means there was a parting. Sometimes someone leaves in order to seek out their purpose, sometimes they leave to find help with a problem, and sometimes they're forced out/banished. Whether good or bad, many partings have happened are more are to come) * Technology & Science (Neopia may be a high fantasy world but it's not devoid of sci-fi, and not just from Virtupets and Kreludor either! Because technology means more than just computers, and science is a methodology that can be applied anywhere) * Passing The Torch (Some characters weren't born to greatness, but rather it was passed down to them. A parent/grandparent to a child/grandchild, a mentor to a student, a boss to an employee. Sometime the origins of a superhero, explorer, scholar, merchant, or any occupation really started with someone else and passed to a worthy successor) I'll stop at five for now. Though I will say there's plenty of "Verses" idea.  |

Maybe we could extend that to fold it into some sort of event? A convention or festival of some sort maybe?
I want to say in moltara but I fear that placing it in Moltara or Virtupets would make people think it HAD to be Moltara or Space tech. But the idea is it's just a worldwide science convention. There's room for a meridell potato field plow AND the new space potato powered tractor beam from kreludor!

From Faerieland, machines that do the work usually taken care of by magic... maybe something like an automated production line that makes faerie food recipes. Just thinking of the picture of the faerie foods shopkeeper with the floating pizza in front of her. Or would that take away too much of the magic of Faerieland? Can't be healthy for the economy if they(the faeries) have a monopoly is all I'm saying... In a way, the lab ray scientist IS doing this right now; aren't paint brushes supposed to be faerie magic?

A few ideas I had, trying to keep things relatively open:
Rules and Anarchy: relatively self-explanatory (and hearkening back to the duplicity themes)
Worlds Away: any stories set in more than 1 land, timeline, universe, etc.
Mixed Media: probably harder to pull off, but emphasize entries that are a mix of writing, visual art, poetry, animation, music(?), etc.

The magic machines are taking Faerieland jobs too though and I could work it into a dual theme where it’s Neopets on the Clock/Faerieland Machines xDDD. That would be a neat challenge. Do the primary theme that we choose, and then incorporate another one from the list that wasn’t picked, but I’m interested in. |
