Perhaps that's so, but we won't know till we get them all!
(There's two diseases that I suspect fit Seti Essense, but I haven't gotten them yet.)
Anyway, I got lucky and Kaninitri got Neoflu! That's four rabbits' feet that helped me out for that Wheel of Misfortune result. =D (Kaninitri: "Quiet and cure me.")
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Neoflu.

And so Kaninitri gets another disease from the Wheel of Misfortune, and this time it's Hoochie Coochies. One that creates spots on their skin/fur. Sounds like one of the more benign diseases besides the social aesthetics and possible contagion...
Kaninitri: "The spots have a bad texture that feels eh, and it's physically draining. Let's hurry with the experiments and see what happens." Wait, you kind of sound onboard now? Kaninitri: "Look, if I didn't want to do this I'd have stopped you. I'm actually kind of curious too." Then why the eh attitude? Kaninitri: "I'm still sick. Now get to it and then cure me if it doesn't work." Alright, alright.
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Hoochie Coochies.

And Kaninitri got Grumbles from the Wheel of Misfortune! Alas how their stomach grumbles. Now to eat dinner while I try the cures. Kaninitri: "You're acting antagonistic in order to pigeonhole me in the role as the victim who's being experimented on against their will. It won't work. It's not hunger. Just do it."
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Grumbles.

What luck! In just a few short hours later, a lucky Wheel of Monotony spin gave Kaninitri Neggitus! Saves me from having to overpay for a Vortex Negg.
Kaninitri: "That's a short window of time, really. Do we have the guaranteed cure in case this doesn't work?" Yeah, they're uber cheap and we have 30 of them, apparently.
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Neggitus.

BUBBLES! Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles-!
Kaninitri: *Hic*
*Pokes a bubble Kaninitri hiccuped up.* So we got that from the Wheel of Misfortune. Best disease eve-
Kaninitri: *HIC*
Fine, we're done with the testing anyway, have a drink.
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Bubbles.

So I finally got a disease from the Wheel! (I've been unluckily lucky, which is why it's been a while.) But it's Neomites, which I've already tested... Except for with the Sore Hand Wrap! So I did that, and threw some Seti Essenses on top for good measure. Still nothing.
SHW does not work on Neomites.

Alas, I have no new results for you all, for I have been very unlucky in my attempts to be unlucky with various REs and the Wheel of Misfortune. When I have landed on the disease section of the wheel, I tend to get ones I already have. Just for the heck of it, I decided to narrow down the list and see how many diseases I have left. They number 18 in total as of this post. There are a couple of diseases that can be achieved with items, but it's not exactly easy to do. I have fed my pets so many White Chocolate Korbats for the sake of contracting Neogitus, but I wonder if that's an accurate reporting because that hasn't worked yet. Occasionally I adopt a foster pet and zap them with the lab ray for a while. Right now I just have a skeith who is refusing to be zapped any aesthetic changes but are getting stat changes, so-- Waiiiiiit.*Looks something up.* *Feeds my foster skeith some cheese.* Well, my foster pet is now contributing to this experiment! For I have just fed them cheese and made them contract Neezles. (And have two pets sick at once, lol.) Time to experiment again! Thank you, foster pet!! Foster Pet: "I didn't agree to this." Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Neezles. And now with that done, the spoiler box with the list of remaining diseases that I'm moving down here to account for today's experiment. This list will not be updated because eh. There are now 17 diseases remaining. Achy Head Bloaty Feet Cricky Neck D'Achoo Doldrums Fuzzitis Fuzzy Fungus Jitters Kikoughela Lumps Neogitus NeoPhobia Pollenitus Reptillioritus Shaky Flakys Shock-A-Lots Spyder Bite

I decided to break down and get a Curse of Ultimate Malison so I could test Fuzzy Fungus. Which may be premature as I'm not in the final stages of testing and could always get it from the Wheel of Misfortune, but... eh. It was available. This time I gave it to Indalabray, because they're a reader and are not hit by "down a book" random events! =D
Indal: "Thanks? =< "
Oh hush, you're already purple. You didn't even notice at first.
Indal: "I'm still turning into a fungus ball."
Yeah, that's less ideal. Let's get to testing.
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Fuzzy Fungus.
(Which is really a shame. I was really hoping that Seti Essense would do the trick here. Maybe it's the other fuzzy disease? Dunno. Gotta test 'em all anyway.)

And at last, Kaninitri got Neophobia from the Wheel of Misfortune! ...They didn't show up here today, so I'll just tell you what happened.
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Neophobia.

Just let me know and I can send the pet over

Your pets are true heroes, suffering for greater knowledge.
With each consecutive cure fail, I'm just anticipating the thrilling conclusion to finally reveal "Well, I guess those descriptions were flavour text only! None of those items actually cure anything." X'D
(Or like, those items do cure certain illnesses, but only have some random % chance at curing, and if it fails it won't have another chance to work for that instance of disease until the pet is cured and re-icked... or something. 'cause that'd be some real Sierra games level of Guide Dangit!)

I'm so glad for their service. ^^ ("We didn't volunteer.")
Honestly, I'm fully expecting that too. xD A few of these I'm sure are one-time things where medicine is just flavor text. Not great on a meta level, but at least we'll know. xP Plus, I feel like these have been released for a long time, so if it cured anything, we'd probably know by now. Even so, science will prove it!
There is also a chance of the medicine not working the first time. Even for the items where it'd be a sure thing (because it gave me a "no, that's not the right medicine, I feel terrible. =( " message). Because of this, I test each cure multiple times and record them before moving on to the next one. Once I get enough direct "no, wrong medicine!" responses, I just move on even if it's before my pre-allocated amount of tests.
Seti Essense and Elixir of the Sun are like these in giving the "it doesn't do anything but they ruined it" or a response. For Seti Essense I get "It doesn't heal Pet's disease, or Pet isn't sick." For Elixir of the Sun, all I've gotten from it were very rare heals. I really think Elixir of the Sun is not a healing item, not a cure item, despite the item category. I'll test it anyway, though.
I tested a successful chance-to-cure thing with Achy Head after the Healing Springs refused to cure it and I realized the 100% success medicine was expensive. Turns out Achy Head's chance-to-cure item is worth, like, 10-30 np each, so I just spammed that until it worked. I got the "it doesn't appear to do anything but they already ruined it/they smear it on anyway" when it didn't work. However, when it did work, it got a "yay, they're cured!" message. That helps to have a comparison for the Seti Essense and Elixir of the Sun type of medicines.

Ah ha, I was inspired by the latest posts here to try again on feeding my pets White Chocolate Korbats to get Neogitus. It doesn't generally work. This time, it did!
...Bad news is, it worked on-
Daydream: "Less talking, more curing! By Fyora I never agreed to this!!" You're the one who loves eating white chocolate korbats. Daydream: *Siiiigh* "Fine, but please hurry, it's not fun to have swollen gums."
Including SHW, None of the cures worked on Neogitus.
(Now to give Daydream something nice. She's my most skeptical pet and I'm trying to get on her good side again.) ((Even though she actually has tremendous luck with Seti Essence and Elixir of the Sun. Still didn't work.))
Oh, but I got a unique result with Elixir of the Sun from her. I'll list the three normal results first. Normal result: "It doesn't appear to do anything, but Kaninitri smears the lotion on anyway!" Normal result: "Kaninitri smears the lotion on and is restored to full hit points!" Normal result: "Indalabray smears the lotion on and gains 25 hit points, but is still not fully recovered."
This result: "daydreamer_daydream is already healed, but they smear the lotion on anyway!"
So I think this confirms that this is just a healing item.
I think I'm gonna send a note to the Editorial about the Elixir of the Sun item category, then. Maybe it was a misplaced category, or maybe they're playing loose with categories. I'd like to know regardless, or maybe they'll fix it if it needs fixing. xD

At least the trial and error results are giving something. It's progress, that's for sure.
