Wayfarers by
Huntress Congratulations!! Happy Accomplishment! You are a legend and I believe in you very much ^_^
I love how this begins with the pretty pink bush and lacy white text even though it is clearly ghostly from the start. It gives me an impression of vintage Victorian spooks instead of our usual Halloween palettes.
As always I love all the little details and items you put into the background of the good old classic Neohome. The starry night and yellow curtains look so very magical, especially with Saura seen from below, which helps break that atmosphere in the cut to the next panel with the spray.
I had no idea you could pose flying handkerchieves to be so expressive and they are hecking adorable. Also liking the irony of Saura complaning of invasive ghosties while the fridge is plied with eyeball food~
Rubble and Memories by
CarolynI enjoyed getting a special preview of this one =D
I liked how you reintroduced Serian, without going through his entire history, a new reader just joining you can still get a sense of the kind of baggage he has and his current connections, just enough to understand the weight of this scene.
The memories of how he was groomed are fittingly chilling, and the evolution of his perception of the orphanage between the past and the present also feels very real.
I did not know I needed Lord Darigan as a kindly parental figure and I think more woobie-characters should be thrown at him for comfort. Heck, let him and Galgarroth adopt some of those orphans x3
The Spooky Food Shop Exposed by _brainchild_
I like how this one lightly leans on the more meta elements of the game, by pointing out the incongruously gruesome foods sold at this shop for so many years without any complaint in-world, and mentioning the absurd enhancements that fully trained battle pets have in comparison with their average-statted peers. The first person narration and the danger and action made this read more like a story than an article to me - which certainly helped keep my interest! But the outraged tone definitely makes me think of review blogs. I would like to read about this character exposing more unprofessional businesses around Neopia
5 Nights at Fyora's by marshclan13_
This is a good collection of different spooks, with various auditory and visual cues and a variety of scary implications. I found the descriptions effective, vivid and sensory, and enjoyed the pacing of the first three nights most, with the point of view character's perceptions restricting the experience to make it more frantic.
I think I would have enjoyed it more if there had been more of an introductory description of this setting: the author seems to have their own idea of what Fyora's quarters are like, they mention specific items and statues, and if at the start of the story I had been given a general idea of the layout, some foreshadowing and Chekhov's objects, there would have been more of a buildup of anticipation leading up to the spooks. The same goes for the sudden mention of Jhudora, which would be more worrying if I had been given reason to worry about it earlier.
Would like and subscribe for more of this aesthetic~
A Strange and Sour Night by smartalecked
This is a creative way to characterise a creative crosspaint. I didn't see that much of a link between the candy-ness of the Hissi and the services he offers, but using candy as a currency does link the trick-or-treating aspect of the holiday more with the magical aspect. At times the sour gummy threatens to undermine the eerie atmosphere, but the point of view character's reaction to the absurdity recovers that nicely. The descriptions and atmosphere are effective, but the really impressive part here is pulling me in with second person narration, and giving me a backstory?! The nerve. It was established very quickly, just enough to be clear and bring in the emotion, without getting bogged down in detail. Quite delightful, it felt like the kind of character relationship I love to write myself.
The Statue by legilis
This is spookycute!! With a cute premise and a creepy atmosphere. I enjoyed the escalation of the subtle, innocuous events and the doubt of the point of view character. This kind of story that keeps us in doubt even at the end fits right into the fantastique genre. I also like how she seemed to be subtly influenced by the statue while bringing it home. New spooky friend yay!
Is the Tooth Faerie Made of Teeth? by moi
Oh hello hi look who's here
Yes hello this is the Spookytooth take I have been rambling about for uuuh possibly a year, as the first of my Eldritch Faerie takes. Wow I got something done after talking about it, who'd've thunk.
Well I am very very mad at myself for forgetting to include a mental image I really wanted to use!!
So please also envision this to enhance your read:
the Tooth Faerie appearing as a floating smile first, Cheshire Catlike, and definitely not being wholly present with only her mouth visible at first.
Blossoms~ Coming to Light Part 3 by
Twillie I have yelled about this earlier but now I am very hype that this character has been introduced to the Times audience, and also last time I omitted to comment on the very cool dramatic lighting on Zaira, I do love when characters can summon dramatic lighting like that and I bet it's not even her faerie magic.
Second Glance (Halloween edition) by
Stephanie (swordlilly) This is a very good use of site art. The way it's reframed and washed-out could almost make me forget that it's site art, and really repurposes it to create the right atmosphere for your comic. Good job finding different images of the right kind of pet with the right expressions. If I understood the joke right, it's about the irony of a daily giving a desirable prize that is not actually convenient in-world? I've seen a lot of dailies-centered jokes, but this one is enhanced by the pacing of your panels, and the extra dramatic atmosphere brought by their faded look.
The Pumpkin Carving Contest by madfathers
This was cute, a concept I don't recall seeing before. I especially liked the Gelert's awkward expressions.
The Job Interview by minmomo
Nice art here! this take on the Emo Usul gives us the job search angle which should be relatable to many ='D intensely businesslike look of the Ixi amused me.

Idea Crisis - Halloween by black_kisa and flaiyper
An original idea for playing with wraith pets, and yay for more attention on wraith pets' lives! I do like the bespookened Blumaroo and all the wraiths' expressions which play on their hollow features.
