Ah yes the best people to partner with in a business venture, those that force you to spend more of your own resources because they prove too incompetent to handle their end of things. Hopefully Neopets stepping in to help moderate the Metaverse social media and discord doesn't spread TNT staff even thinner, they've already got too much on their plate without having to babysit these people.
Regardless, I genuinely do feel for those on TNT who likely don't want anything to do with this NFT venture, either because of the nature behind NFT's or because of the community outcry (or both). It's hard to show support to said community when you have to remain partnered with the Metaverse people, which makes any statement like this ring hollow to some degree. Not a great situation for anyone.
It's good at least that they're no longer going to remove anti-NFt entries from the Beauty Contest, perhaps that's a sign that the protests are having some kind of effect back at headquarters. No matter what, though, I hope momentum in the community doesn't slow down now that this change has been made and Jellyneo's blackout is done. The best way to make corporations change is from continuous bellyaching, as just waiting for controversy to die out on its own before continuing with business as usual is a strategy used very often these days.

Man y'all, I've been an admin for so incredibly long now. I've been around. I've done moderation. By this point I'm basically Bootstrap Bill, all crusty and fused into the furniture and slumbering in the walls unless something rouses me to ooze out where required.
I absolutely cannot wrap my brain around the whole idea of just... assisting Metaverse in social media moderation. Like they're going to pop round every now and again to take a wee look over the door during lunch break before running off again. The problems with the Metaverse community are ingrained, systemic, so inherent to the group of people active there that no amount of surface work is going to make a difference. They're trying to cover a ball of dung in saran wrap to make it look like a pretty lil balloon. It's going to start leaking dung between layers as soon as you move it, it'll never ever float, and even if you covered it with seven miles of saran wrap (which in this analogy is expensive resources better spent on Neopets itself plzthx) we'll all still know that there's dung underneath. Seriously, why? Were your lawyers so incompetent that they couldn't write a proper termination clause into the contract in the event of *vague flail* all this? How much moolah are they hoping to gain from this cost of entry to make it all worth it?
My top guess is that the dung will continue to leak, the Neopets community will continue to post screenshots and point at the stink, and maaaybe at some point some exec will begrudgingly admit that they may be in way over their heads. Kinda doubt they'll be able to get the smell off by that point.

Were your lawyers so incompetent that they couldn't write a proper termination clause into the contract in the event of *vague flail* all this? They probably either didn't anticipate this and didn't think of citing this as a ground for termination, or the other party was the one that drafted the contract, they tried to make amendments to the termination clause, the amendments were rejected, and they didn't bother to try and fight that. I can only imagine the web of legalities in this endeavor and I really wish there was a loophole in there somewhere they could wield like Excalibur.

I cannot see them not having a get out clause. Frankly the only logical explanation right now is that Jim Czulewicz was personally involved in brokering this agreement somehow and feels the money they will make is worth any cost. It cannot have gotten to this stage without someone in a management position at Jumpstart digging in their heels. Entire franchises have been terminated for less, let alone one third party license.

Well, I'm considering the mass protest over the weekend a hollow victory, at best, seeing as the Metaverse is up to their usual shenanigans, again.

At this point I've been just going "What?... What?... What?" increasingly loudly for a solid couple of weeks.
My initial response was just kind of "Well, that's a dumb thing I won't buy, but if the NTF bros are into it and know what they're in for then I can't complain too much about the site having a source of revenue I guess" but it seems like every day that passes there's some other weird dodgy incident that just leaves me shaking my head. Surely even the higher-ups have to be aware by now that this is an absolute disaster??

Breakingchains pretty much echoes my sentiments, lol. I don't know enough about NFTs themselves to have strong opinions about them (beyond "this seems pretty pointless"), but then I saw that Twitter thread, like. Is this a troll? Are we being trolled?

The best thing I saw compared NFT to those Star Registry things, where you pay someone and you get to name or own a star.
The fact that there's more than one of these meaning that the whole thing meaningless, with the only value being what you think having a star named after something is worth.

The fact that there's more than one of these meaning that the whole thing meaningless, with the only value being what you think having a star named after something is worth. Eh, sorta? Yeah, there being multiple sites doing it kinds of defeats the purpose... BUT at the same time at least the star is gonna remain there for a few millions years (whether you can see it (and locate it) is another matter entirely... as well as the previously mentioned issue of there being multiple sites doing it; but hey a star is a pretty big thing so there's room to share as long as the same website didn't give multiple people the same star as that would be real shifty). And the purpose of it is more sentimental than you're investing in something for the purpose of selling later. Also the most "damage" you're doing is having your name on a probably small database detailing who "owns" what star while NFTs are actively harming the environment each time one is made.

BTW, don't know if it was said here, but one of the mods/admins of the Metaverse discord DOXXED A MINOR after she posted negative stuff about NFTs in the discord.

I finally log on after a break and read up all on this NFT situation... honestly I'm shocked. I never liked NFTs especially when people's artwork were being stolen. This is such a scam and I never thought it would eventually spread to Neopets?? The Discord toxicity is crazy and I'm stunned that all these horrible actions happened... I'm pretty disappointed. Honestly, can this project just be cancelled for everyone's sake? Now excuse me as I nope myself out and go back to studying again.
