You find yourself once again on the path to Birdy's treehouse, now that you (finally) see some lights on. Guess she is handing things out after all! You wonder what she'll have in store this year - and if it will be any better than last year's.
The open-air elevator is waiting at the bottom of the tree, and you climb on, soon finding yourself rising up into the crisp evening air. You soon reach the top, and upon stepping onto the deck of the treehouse, are greeted with a high-pitched scream.
...What was that? It- it sounded like a child...
Now concerned or the well-being of this possible-child (what if they got hurt??), you stride over to the front door, and - finding it unlocked - hurry inside.
Inside, you find a small group of children. You think there are about five; at least, that's all you can see. (And... was that a baby rabbit that ran under the couch??)
You pause in the doorway, not quite sure what to do as an argument breaks out.
"I told you not ta do that!" one scolds - she appears to be the oldest, you think. Her short black hair is pulled back into two pigtails behind her head, and her costume is... you think it's some sort of superhero, but can't tell for sure. Whatever the case, judging by her posing and glaring, it's clear she thinks herself the leader of the pack.
"I was jus' tryin' t' move 'im..." a young, sandy-haired boy (who was dressed as a knight) replied, pouting. "I din't want th' rabbit t' get hurt..."
"He's not a rabbit, he's a hare," the girl replied, arms crossed over her chest.
"Actually," a new voice countered, "he's neither - he's a jackalope. A creature of folklore, that is said to roam grasslands and cause mischief." The black-haired boy pushed his glasses back up his nose and held his book closer to himself. "Or at least that's what I read..."
You look away from the group of three children over to where the couch is, and the little boy with a mop of light-brown hair who is holding a carrot... that seems to be growing in size?! Judging by what you can hear, he's trying to lure the baby jackalope out.
Before you can ponder too much on all this, however, your attention is drawn downwards, after catching some movement out of the corner of your eye.
A small, blonde-haired boy stands before you, wearing... you're not quite sure what he's wearing actually. Some sort of combination between a dragon, astronaut, faerie, vampire, werewolf, and superhero?? ...You decide not to question it.
"Hi," he says, smiling up at you. "Habby Hallomeen," he adds, holding out a handful of candy and dropping it into your candy-carrying object of choice.
...Well, that was nice of him! You thank him, and he beams back up at you before scampering over to see what the other kids are doing.
So! You got some candy, but will you do anything else? Talk to one of the kids? See if they have any other treats to offer? Or will you just take your few pieces of candy and leave?
