He chuckled and sat down at the table the game was being played at. "Mind if we join in?" he asked the already seated group. "If you've got money, you can play." responded one of them. Oak looked to Cassie. Cassie blinked. "Oh!" she started. "You'll get me back for this, won't you?" she teased, laughing nervously a little at the end of her query. Reaching into her bag, she muttered to herself and pulled out various currencies, from Dubloons, to Canadian to Neopoints to even that interesting coin from Barbados she had encountered once at work ((True story)). Aware of the stares, Cassie pulled all of the coins--various, but relatively few in number--closer to her and protested, her face pink. "I like to travel, okay?" "Is that a real coin?" one of the participants asked, pointing to the Barbados coin. "I haven't seen 'em before, and I prefer money people will accept." The coins on the table were Dubloons, Neopoints, US currency, and Shinies. Having coins from a variety of places was apparently not that unusual of a thing in a city plagued by dimensional warp fields.

Cassie quickly and mentally counted the coins in front of one of the players, matching the value in what was there..she hoped. "That oughta do it for us both," she said, sitting up very properly at the table. One hand was on the table and her eyes were on the players, waiting for the round to begin. But only those watching from behind would notice her other hand, giving a slight playful pinch to Oak's side. "We're ready. Let's do this." Determination hung in every syllable.

They played, Oak showing himself a good reader of human faces, but pretty bad with non-human. HELLO TACO 8D erro

Cassie pushed a stubborn curl out of her damp forehead and concentrated. She could see the telltale signs of unease in some of her opponents--a flick of the tail, a twitch of the ears, an involuntary contraction of the muzzle or muffled squawk.
But the humans may as well have been written in a cryptic language.
All too soon, the game of cups and dice were over. Cassie waited until she and Oak were relatively alone before speaking.
"That was quite exhilarating," she said, but a playful smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "You know, you totally owe me for that," she continued in a tone that indicated otherwise.
