I voted for Petpet(pet)s but if time travel/AU wins I could (maybe) work in my Petpet Park crossover.
(And tomorrow we'll have a big blizzard so I'll use that as inspiration for my current story! )

Wow. o.O Conspiracies and Mysteries is becoming quite popular!

I feel like it's becoming popular because, at heart, we all want to write about the guy under the tinfoil hat.
Also, the tie between Dreams and the Tenth Doctor Time Travel/AU is making me nervous. XD

I’m hoping for dreams because I have a pet (Lyrutah) who is a Dream Elemental Guardian, and I could totally write a short story about his powers.
I guess I could work with time travel, but its so hard….you got so many paradoxes and loophole potential and while sometimes it is done pretty well, it can still be hard to pull off sometimes. I do have a character who is under developed but her initial backstory is that she has traveled back in time (basically to our present time) and while it would be a good opportunity to flesh out her character, I had sort of…dark..intentions for her story. So I dunno if it’d work for the NT?

Well, if it ends up being a tie, we could just turn it into general reality-bending so either one works...

Isn't the difficulty of working with paradoxes and whatnot in time travel what we have the general alternate universe option added in for? I've been thinking of the wibbly-wobbly theme as a sort of general "time and space" theme where writers can choose to play with whatever alternate things could exist/have happened either with or without using time travel as an element.
Even besides that, though, I'm not so sure it's such a difficult thing to pull off a good time travel story. I'm not saying it's easy to make one which manages to avert all potential paradoxes -- I'm sure it isn't -- but it seems to me that many of the most successful time travel stories create some paradox or another and are enjoyable anyway thanks to suspension of disbelief. Some very popular time-travel stories (Back to the Future, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) leave loose ends hanging if you think about them too long, and others (Terminator franchise, Doctor Who; especially Doctor Who) almost seem to enjoy contradicting their own rules of time travel. Overall, it seems to me that the important thing is to make the story itself interesting and at least believable enough for willing suspension of disbelief to kick in, which is something that you'd need to do anyway. Even if you want to fully preserve the integrity of your story, there are some pretty creative ways to do so -- or you can just forgo the time travel aspect and make a general AU story, as I said before.
tl;dr The time travel/AU idea is fun, I think it is doable, and I don't want to see it completely passed over again D: (Although on that note, I'm thinking that with the winners [especially first and second place] being so close together and so far ahead of all the other options thus far, we should probably go with Carolyn's suggestion of using the second and possibly third place themes as future collabs. It's quite clear that both Time Travel/AU and Dreams are topics that people really want to write about)

(Crazy, right?) But yeah, it would not be just restricted to time-travel since that would get a little overplayed if everyone did it. General wibblyness would allow for greater creativity (and let people have fun with some wacky, turning-canon-on-its-head stories and comics. Just look at the BVU week issue! Someone did a King Hagan comic where the roles are reversed (brilliant idea if you ask me!) I love that those sorts of possibilities would be opened up! ^^

See, my concern is that "general AU" is too broad. Seriously, any story published in the times that features canon characters is an AU because it explores a fan's unofficial perspective on canon. In theory I could just publish any of my normal Ballad of the Faerie's Champion stories and they'd be an AU. That's a theme anyone could submit anything for and it could be hard for the layman to even figure out what the theme actually was.

...Well, we could have a guideline to at least include the term "wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey" or "time travel and other wibbly-wobbly stuff" in the article/comic/etc. if we do that theme, maybe? <_<
It looks like Dreams has pulled into the lead again anyways, though.

Actually, at the moment, Dreams is tied with Conspiracies. Although it's been a gradual shift, that topic has the potential for being our next theme and I have no idea of what I would do with it, lol. Well.... I'll think of something if that is the choice. Probably an article? :x Maybe something Obelisk War related? I dunno.

Unless I misread the above quoted posts, you guys were talking about Alternate Universe/Alternate Timeline alongside the time travel subject. And you must be looking at a different poll then I am because Dreams is has sixteen votes while Conspiracies has eleven. O.o;;;

O.o;;; Some JCWers who don't have accounts here have voted as well, and time travel is MUCH less popular there.

What Jae said. To give some of the JCWers a chance to vote (as not all of them are NTWF) I asked them to send me their votes. I listed them on the first post. OH!! Okay. AU=Alternative Universe. Got it. I meant more like the twisted history mystery caps sort of alt-history, where events take quite a different turn.

Whoo so as far as NTWF votes go Dreams are in first place!! *holds current series in progress*
I wonder what the outcome is going to be when we add in the JCW votes.

It's so close, it could go either way, and frankly I'd be excited about either. They're both amazing themes. xD
Also wow, when did "conspiracies and mysteries" get so many votes? Either I wasn't paying attention or it just snuck up out of nowhere...it's a conspiracy, I tells ya!
