Even for non-Bishock players, those two cities are quite fascinating! One an underwater urban utopia (or dystopia, depending on your timeline) dedicated to vice, pleasure and progress! The other, a flying overly-religious steampunk society. One way or another, we can't deny both these scenarios are friggin' amazing. So, where would rather live? You think you'd fit in? What would your life be like up/down there? Do you think projects like these are actually possible?

I'm afraid of drowning and heights, so Earth is fine.

A healthy option, Kllix - and the wisest, if you ask me. Those two cities didn't work out for a reason. X} It's interesting to add that the creators of the game chose these two hostile environments based on fears like height and drowning! They explore the most uncormtable situations, in some ways Bioshock is a horror game!
...But I like to speculate nonetheless. :}
I have always dreamt with the idea of living underwater - especially in a modern place like Rapture. Imagine that, watching a whale pass by while you're heading to the theater! I think it's really interesting how the entire structure works - it's located on a shallow part of the ocean. Some of the highest towers reach sunlight (like the main oxygen source of the city, the gardens of Arcadia). The buildings take heat and power from magma. Studies and theories reveal that it is indeed possible to build a place like that! Yet Rapture collapsed nonetheless - it was created to be an utopia, no taxes or laws and basic structures like ethics that keep our society from crumbling. I'm not surprised that, in less than a decade, that jewel in the bottom of the ocean became a rotting sewer filled with drug addicts and mob fights. If Rapture was made with regular social basis, I think I'd go for it - but in the end I'd go mad from lack of sunlight. I guess I'd stick with you, Killix...nothing better than safe ground beneath my feet and sunlight on my face!
But then there's the lovely Columbia...ah, holy guacamole. :3 What a view. I guess it's not that different from our life; you have wind, sunlight and vegetation! Unlike Rapture, it has flaws on its structure - at that height, it'd be as cold as Siberia. Unless, of course, there is some heating system the game did not mention. Still, if it was real - I'd rather live up there than down here...or at least long enough for me to get nausea. :3

Given that I live 90 miles north of Columbia, and found nothing remarkable about it, I'm going to have to pass on it.
Since I'd rather not deal with Big Daddies or Little Sisters, no, I would not kindly venture down to Rapture.
I picked the third option, because that's how I roll.

Rapture is clearly the only option. Perfect music, perfect ambience, perfect amount of insanity.

Columbia, hands down. I mean, have you heard the music? Not to mention, no splicers trying to kill you. And I think we're all forgetting one important point about Columbia: THE SKY LINE. IMAGINE GETTING TO ZIP AROUND THE CITY ON THE SKYLINE.
I think a city like Colombia is certainly possible--we'd just have to figure out a way to get oxygen up there. I'd imagine the air is pretty thin that high up.

Something that the game developers failed to take into account about the skyline system is that even if we assume the hooks are magnetized and will just grab and hold, that much force dragging you along will yank your shoulder right out of the socket. Which I imagine would not be terribly pleasant! Also I have a massive, crippling fear of heights. Seriously I get nauseous looking down from the top of one flight of stairs. If I had to pick between the two, I'd prooobably go with Rapture. Work for the Rapture Tribune initially, then Hook up with Tenebaum and help save the Little Sisters after everything went ballistic. Though I can't imagine I would be able to say no to the super-powers from the plasmids, at least before it became obvious that they had negative side effects. Telekinesis? Yesplease!

Yeah, I guess I am a thread necromancer, huh? But the thing is, I JUST finished Bioshock Infinite yesterday (which was AWESOME) so I couldn't resist. Thing is, I know when I go into tunnels, I always have this irrational fear that it's going to suddenly collapse. And, considering that the only thing in Rapture between me and drowning is a bubble, that would be ten times as bad.
