Okay, I need help deciding on a title for the third Needed series (even though it probably won't be completed for quite a while still.) In order to do so, I'm going to describe the plots of all three series, so if there's anybody planning on reading them who doesn't want to be spoiled, you should probably turn around right now and forget you ever saw this thread. Well, you can still vote if you want, you just won't be sure how well your vote fits the plot. (And btw, two of those options are jokes-- if you can't figure out which, I'm scared.)
For those who are still here *crickets chirp*:
Needed: the basic story was about a rich shadow gelert named Dantam who ends up on the streets. He comes to live with a group of homeless pets. When their leader passes away, Dantam goes out and finds owners for many of the homeless pets and convinces them to give humans another chance. He, however, chooses to stay in the junkyard to continue helping homeless pets find owners, because he's realized that he's "needed" by them-- get it?
Needed Too: Dantam is still running the junkyard, helping other pets to find happy homes, when he meets Tessa, a cloud gelert who has amnesia. He falls in love but when a man approaches him claiming to be her owner, he sends her away thinking she'll be happier. The man turns out to be an imposter, Dantam saves her and then she tells him that she doesn't want him to find her owner-- that she'd rather stay in the junkyard with him. L came up with the spiffy title-- "Too" sounds like "2", of course, and we find out that Tessa is "needed too" (by Dantam).
Needed 3: I won't give away too much, and also, some of this is subject to change due to the guidelines and all, but hopefully I won't have to change it too too much in order to get it published. Dantam and Tessa have a son who decides to stay in the junkyard instead of finding an owner. Dantam tries to train him in running the junkyard, but he wants to have "adventures" like those from the stories his dad told him when he was little (the events of the previous stories). So he runs away, followed by his "sidekick", a talking whoot. In the course of the story, he has some adventures and ends up realizing that what his father does really is important, while Dantam comes to see that maybe a little adventure isn't such a bad thing either.
Sorry that was so long. The crickets really are chirping now, I'll bet... Well, anyway, some of those titles (Needed Still, Anew, Again) stem from the suggestions I got for Needed Too and might work okay. I like "A Needed Adventure" b/c it works on a couple of levels-- might work without the "A" too, I'm not sure. Obviously, I want to have "Needed" in the title somewhere, so vote or if you have other suggestions let me know, and thanks for making your way through this tome...
