I'm working on a new series which takes place in Meridell, during the war. I need an antagonist (badguy), however. I was thinking of maybe Hubrid Nox, or Balthazar, of someone entirely different. Thanks!

Personally, I find Hubrid Nox difficult to write about because it's tough to pin down whether he's supposed to be a funny character or someone we really fear (although it seems as if he's been swinging toward the latter lately.) He was involved in the war somehow though (he cast a spell against Meridell or something, I can't remember exactly.) But what's the story about-- what does the antagonist need to do?

There's also Sloth (laughinstock) and the Monoceraptor (true fear). You can even make it Jhudora, although I prefer not to think of her as an antagonist (complicated reasons).
On first hearing the title "Bad Guy For Hire" I suppose you don't want to have a villain people seriously fear, but I may be wrong so you should give more details.
You can also make up your own villain.

Of course, there's always the Uber Dark Faerie and the entire Gallery of Evil gang; however, I think it would be better to create your own, like Sara suggested, merely for originality reasons.

Made up bad guys are alot more fun to play around with, because they're a product of your imagination.
However my Dark Night/Bathalazar thing didn't come out too bad. Two Words: Pituitary Gland
