Bonus Features
Here you can find some behind-the-scenes planning for ITAA! Obviously there are spoilers for the story ahead. :P
Concept Art
I drew a lot of concept art in preparation for this story. As you'll notice from some of the dates I left on there, some of these things have been planned a long time in advance, some of them were last-minute additions. XD
The concept chibis that started it all! This was actually how I decided to make the initial outline, haha.
Sketch version of the title picture.
A giant group pic I did of almost all the NPCs from this story, most notably lacking several from case four.
Concept art of Chenier by The Scrac that Smiles Back! I wasn't sure how to make her look Rinamian, so I asked for Scrac's advice. XD
Some notes for Tainted magic. Notice how I was originally considering an enchanted bullet instead of an enchanted gun for the big reveal.
Concept sketches for Sylvia Tang, one of the few characters to get her own set of concept sketches. :P
Bad guy Bourne!
Original concept sketches of Lucius Wayne, also one of the many failed attempts at drawing the doors of the spirit cage. :'B
More failed attempts at those stupid doors. You might notice from the dates that I was cutting it pretty close. >_>; (The "Pinterest-based doors" were based off some fancy doors I found on Pinterest, which I tried to use for inspiration.)
When I was planning for Lucius to be a shapeshifter, I decided it would be a natural ability of his, so I decided to make him a demon. These sketches were done to finalize this decision.
I did these sketches of the ITAA culprits with the idea that, if they were in an actual Ace Attorney game, their sprites might look something like this. Creepy Lucius is creepy. o_o
Some finalized sketches I did of Lucius when Torkie asked me what he looked like!
Original sketch of the triumphant arrival of the cavalry! You may recall I put this up in place of the finalized one for a short while. :P
I posted these on my art dump, but they're worth reposting: some snazzy case art for each of the ITAA cases!
Some case 4 fanart by @torkie10!
Deleted Scenes
Here's some deleted scenes!
Edgeworth interjects (case 1)
Magic? You already know I don't have that. *flicks bangs out of eyes* Face it, Mr. Lawyer—no matter how much you want to believe it, it wasn't me.
"OBJECTION!"
?!
!
!!
*deskslam* I have had quite enough of this nonsense, Mr. Hall!
Mr. Edgeworth?
Mr. Hall. You have repeatedly stated that, due to your lack of magical prowess, that you are incapable of using magic. This is false.
Wh... what are you talking about? Of course it's true!
No, it is not. Surely you have heard of the simple concept of magic items, Mr. Hall?
...! Of course! Magic items!
The defendant himself does not use magic. This has been established. However, it has also been established that he uses at least two magic items on a regular basis:
...His sword, and the previously mentioned portal device. Neither of which, to my knowledge, require any particular magical prowess on the user's part. *deskslam* So even a non-magically inclined person is still entirely capable of using magic!
*surprised muttering from the audience*
You... aren't you supposed to be the prosecutor?! Prosecuting Vallen Hawkeye?
In theory, yes. However, an attorney's role in a court of law is unimportant in comparison to finding the truth.
Yay! I knew Mr. Edgeworth would help us!

Thoughtful Phoenix (case 2)
{August 20th, 11:58PM
Wright & Co. Offices, Taco City
Phoenix's Office}
*watching the footage he was given over and over again* (Something doesn't seem right, and yet... there's so little to go off of.)
*opens the door slowly, peering in* ...Nick? Are you still here? It's almost midnight.
*yawn* Yeah... sorry. I'm just trying to make sense of all this. What are you doing here? I thought you would have gone to bed by now.
I was worried about you. You seemed really concerned about this case.
Yeah, well, usually there's contradictions, things that don't match up. All I've got are open ends that I don't know what to do with.
Hey, don't worry, Nick! I'm sure we'll find something. We always find something.
I hope so. *sighs, shutting off the TV and standing up* Oh well... maybe I should get some sleep and I'll come up with something in the morning.
Yeah! That's how Einstein solved all of his problems, you know.
Yeah, I guess. Come on, Maya. *heads out of the room*

Chenier is so certain (case 2)
Phoenix (confused): Hm... if she was moving that quickly, I'm guessing you didn't get a good look at her face?
Chenier (confused): Not really...? She only looked at me for a brief moment, from a distance. (angry) But it was definitely that woman in the seat over there! Th-that... murderer! That thief!
Judge (neutral): Witness, please calm down. So the woman you saw was indeed the defendant?
Chenier (angry): Yes! I'm sure of it! ...Sir.
Phoenix (glare): *deskslam* If you didn't see her face clearly, then how are you so sure?
Chenier (angry): The hair, the complexion, the clothes... it had to be her!
Phoenix (sigh): (...Unfortunately, this won't get me anywhere unless I have evidence.)

Anything is possible (case 2)
Phoenix (zzz): Well, if there really was magic involved here, then it would be impossible for Chell to have committed the crime. (sigh) ...In theory, at least. The prosecution will probably come up with some weird excuse as to why it's possible.
Maya (hrm): Niiick! Be nice to Mr. Gavin!
Phoenix (sigh): It's nothing against Prosecutor Gavin, it's just... I've noticed that prosecutors like to point of the relativity of "possible" around here.
"All participants in the State vs. Chell trial, please return to courtroom number five!"
Phoenix (srsface): Sounds like they're back with the results. Let's go. *heads off* (Well, now or never, Phoenix...)

Suspicious (case 2)
Okay, okay, fine! So Abby got in a car wreck a few days ago. Got distracted with her cell phone or something and crashed into a phone pole. And now you know what's supposed to be her private business. Congratulations, Mr. Lawyer, you're a snooper.
...I wouldn't have asked if I didn't have good reason to. This car was involved in a serious murder.
You... huh? How can a car commit murder?
No, what I mean is, the victim was killed by landing on the car. A car that seemed to be set up in such a way to imply premeditation.
...Oh. So what, though? One of the scrapyard workers probably set it up that way.
Also, Abby apparently sent it in using a fake name.
...Say what?
Take a look at this. *shows him a report* This report is for the car being placed in the scrapyard. Under "previous owner, instead of Abby's name, it says "Lee Jitt"... which is a name you claimed to have no knowledge about whatsoever.
... Maybe... that's the, uh, mechanic...? Or her boyfriend or something?
Another thing. There are no records whatsoever about anyone named "Lee Jitt."
... ... ...I think I really do need to talk to Abby...
{August 21st, 8:20PM
Taco City
Park}
*follows Dale to the park* So this is where you were going to meet her?
Yeah. Look, she's right over there. *walks over*
*sitting on a park bench with a briefcase on her lap* *notices the others approaching* ...? Oh! Mr. Jobs! *stands up* And Mr. Wright and his assistant, Maya! What a lovely coincidence!
It's not a coincidence. I asked you to meet me here.
Oh! ...What did you want to talk about?
The business cards, you idiot.
Oh! Yes, of course. Here you go, sir! *hands him the briefcase*
*takes it, raising an eyebrow* ...A briefcase.
Of course! It was a convenient way to carry them, sir.
You mean as opposed to the trunk of your car?
I... hm?
We heard about your car accident, Ms. Semend.
Oh! That. ...Um, what about it?
Mr. Wright here told me something interesting about that car. He said you used a fake name when you sent it in to be scrapped. Why is that?
...Oh! Um... I, um, I didn't want anyone to know I'd crashed my car. I didn't give my name to the press, so I didn't give it to the scrapyard people, either. I wanted to keep it off my record... it was kind of embarrassing.
That doesn't make it okay to lie, Abby.
I-I'm sorry, sir! It won't happen again.
Well, it better not. This is starting to make you look a bit suspicious.
Suspicious? Suspicious of what?
Your car was used as part of a murder, Ms. Semend.
...
...Which reminds me. Where were you yesterday at about 4:12PM?
*thinks on this* ...Um... sorry, I don't always keep track of time. I was most likely at my desk, though. Maybe I could check the records?
...You're absolutely sure you don't know?
Like I said, I could check the records. Then we'd know for sure.
(...I'm not seeing any Psyche-Locks... it can't be another dead end, can it?)
Sorry. If there's any other way I can help, let me know.
...Well... it is a little weird that you made it out of the crash unharmed. The article said the car was pretty heavily damaged.
...Hm... that is a bit strange, isn't it? I'm not sure what to tell you about that.
You have no idea how that happened?
How what happened? The crash?
No, how you survived it.
Oh! ... I guess that would be because I didn't take a lethal amount of damage.
But why didn't you take much damage?
I, um... I don't know what to tell you about that... sorry, but I don't really want to talk about this.
If you keep avoiding my questions, you're just going to make yourself look more suspicious.
Abby, if you have something to tell the man, please do.
I've told the truth. What more do you want me to say? And I don't see how my accident is relevant to your case.
The victim fell on your car. Your car's basically a murder weapon.
But what does that have to do with me? I sent it to the scrapyard, but that doesn't mean it's my fault that poor robot got hurt.
The thing is— ...Wait a minute. How did you know the victim was a robot?
*a pause* ...Didn't you... mention that?
I'm relatively certain I didn't.
I certainly never heard it was a robot.
...That's weird.

Barriers (case 2)
When I got in the car accident, I panicked. The barrier... I guess it was instinct.
Would you say you're adept with barriers?
Huh? I'm not an Adept.
No, I mean, would you say you are skilled at creating barriers?
...I guess? Why?
How skilled? Do you think you could, say, make a barrier some distance from yourself?
... Is this relevant?
I don't know. Is it?
Mr. Wright, do you actually have a point to this line of questioning?
*deskslam* Your Honor, you may recall there was a particular barrier found at the scene of Scrappy's murder that we have yet to explain. Forgive me if I find the coincidence just a little bit fishy!
That barrier and the one found from Fräulein Semend's car had vastly different auras!
So did the aura on Ms. Semend's record!
...What are you suggesting?
I've been noticing an odd theme here. Ms. Semend claimed not to have magic, a claim her records apparently support. Similarly, we had an aura show up at Scrappy's murder that seemed to belong to Chell... a woman who does not have any apparent magic ability. Isn't that strange? It's almost as if... Whoever did this is capable of physically altering their own aura!

Dale Jobs gets a phonecall (case 2)
{August 22nd, 1PM
Taco City Bank
Dale Jobs' Office}
Dale: *boredly works on paperwork* (Wonder what's taking Abby so long with that trial...)
*suddenly, his phone rings*
Dale: *picks up the phone* Dale Jobs speaking.
"Hi, Mr. Jobs. You were Abby Semend's boss, right?"
Dale: Yeah, that's me. What of it?
"Well, you should probably know... she's been arrested."
Dale: ...What? Whatever for?
"Murder, attempted murder, and tampering with a crime scene."
Dale: What? That's ridiculous. Why would Abby do something like that?
"I don't know, that's what we're trying to figure out. Do you know much about her personal life? We can't seem to find many files on her."
Dale: Not really. She never really talked about herself much. But murder? That woman can barely keep a single train of thought. There must be some mistake.
"I'm sorry to say there's been no mistake. You're probably going to have to start looking for a new secretary."
Dale: ...Okay, that's it. I'm going to have to see this to believe it. Is she at the detention center now?
"Yeah. You might have to wait if you want to visit her, though. I think she's still in questioning."

Visit to the Square (case 3)
Gregory: Well... I think that's everything for now. I'm not sure where we go from here, though.
Maria: You didn't find any new leads at my house?
Gregory: Not particularly. There was plenty of evidence, but... nothing that really leads us to anything. At least not yet.
Maria: I see...
Maya: Hm. Maybe we could check by the town square? Maybe somebody there knows something.
Gregory: I guess it's worth a try... I don't know what else we can do at the moment.
Maria: Good luck... and be careful.
Gregory: Don't worry, we will. *heads off*
Maya: See you later, okay? *follows*

Gregory: *walks into the area, looking around* ...There don't seem to be a lot of people here today.
Maya: Yeah, some days are busier than others. But there might still be someone here who knows something.
Gregory: I guess it can't hurt to ask around. *looks for someone to ask*
*They ask everyone in the square about Maria Freeman, with no luck—it seems no one has even heard of her, let alone seen her recently*
Gregory: (I'm starting to feel desperate here. Has honestly no one seen her?)
Hasaki: I'm sorry, I wish I could help.

Oops (case 3)
Gumshoe: There was definitely more of the weird magic found at the Freemans' house, which we believe to have been set off by the gun, because the auras matched.
Gregory: HOLD IT! Aren't you missing something, detective?
Gumshoe: ...Uhh... well...
Gregory: There was another aura found, wasn't there? In front of the drawer? As I recall, you said it was different than the first one.
Gumshoe: Well... y-yes, but—
Judge: Wait, what? Ms. von Karma, are you withholding evidence?
Franziska: Hmph! Don't make such a ridiculous claim.
Gregory: I was there, you know. Don't lie to me, Ms. von Karma.
Franziska: What... *aura flares in anger* What did you just say?!
Gregory: ! *pulls back, startled* (That came off as more accusatory than intended...)
Franziska: How DARE you insinuate that—!
Judge: *slams gavel repeatedly* Calm down! Everyone calm down!
Gregory: *hastily* I mean, er... maybe you should explain yourself?
Franziska: ... ... ... *slowly calms down* ...Perhaps there was another aura found in the Freemans' home. But it was deemed to be irrelevant, and thus not submitted as evidence.
Gregory: "Irrelevant"? How could it possibly be—
Franziska: *interrupts* The aura belonged to Maria Freeman.

Not talking (case 3)
Gregory: Just out of curiosity, Ms. Tang... do you happen to know what the enchantment did?
Sylvia: I honestly don't see how that's relevant.
Gregory: I'm actually not sure that it isn't. After all, if that enchantment was used on the victim...
Sylvia: *slams the witness stand with her fist* It's not relevant. Let's just move on, okay?
Gregory: ...? (That was a surprisingly strong reaction...)
Sylvia: But yeah, I'm well aware that he was shot with his own gun. Such a shame, really.
Gregory: HOLD IT! I'm not done yet!
Sylvia: I honestly don't see how that's relevant.

Original mystery epilogue (case 3)
{? ? ?}
Well, well. It looks like things are just about to get interesting.
What a complicated situation. This will not be easy to fix. Which is why one must take the utmost care to ensure everything is handled correctly.
But there is no need to fear. I have complete confidence that this will end for the best. After all, no matter what happens... there is nothing they can do to stop the inevitable.
I certainly hope you are prepared.

Missing flashback (case 4)
Diego: Don't fret, you two. It'll be fine. (If at any time you need to go, just go. I don't want this to be any harder on you. Don't push yourself too far.)
Mia: (I should be fine, but... you'll take over for me if it comes down to it?)
Diego: (Of course I will. Just like I promised you years ago.)

{FLASHBACK}
"Hey… don't worry, okay? I'll do whatever I can to help you out. You can even take my business card! Just tell her to call this number if she ever needs any help. *Grins* You can say I'm a famous lawyer or something, if you like."

Diego: (I may not have been there then, but I'm here now.)
Mia: *nods slowly, giving him a hug* (Thanks, Diego... it means a lot to me.)
Mia: (I should be fine, but... you'll take over for me if it comes down to it?)
Diego: (Of course I will. Just like I promised you years ago.)

{FLASHBACK}
"Hey… don't worry, okay? I'll do whatever I can to help you out. You can even take my business card! Just tell her to call this number if she ever needs any help. *Grins* You can say I'm a famous lawyer or something, if you like."

Diego snaps (case 4)
Diego: *Points* You don't know what you're talking about, von Karma! This boy hardly saw anything! He hasn't mentioned either the victim or the defendant by name in a single bit of his testimony! I have my doubts that he actually saw Maya at all until he got down there and found her on the ground!
von Karma: And what? Someone swapped out the "true culprit" with Maya Fey in the two to three minutes while the witness wasn't looking?
Diego: *Ignores* There is something different about that area! Something wrong! The illusion may not have been on the knife, but on something else!
von Karma: Oh really? Like what?
Mia: *lets the Light fade from her hands, staring at the knife in troubled thought* There must be something...
Diego: Like… like the auras, for starters!
von Karma: What about them? They were a perfect match.
Diego: You got to the scene before we did. Before the police did! You claim to have been close enough to the scene to have noticed "commotion". Your witness just stoutly testified there was no brawl, just a brief outcry and then it was too late. He claims not to have sensed you coming. I don't know if you've noticed, but we have extremely strong auras that can be sensed fairly easily. So which is the lie?
Crono: Hey! I'm not lying! *Sounds insulted* There was no one else around!
Diego: Not that you could sense properly.
von Karma: Wha— ... *scowls* You ignorant fool.
Diego: I'm not saying you were involved. I would say someone else is, though.

Extended reveal reactions (case 4)
Judge: I have to agree with you! This court is adjourned until we can find the meaning of this! *bangs gavel*
*Lee hurriedly takes Maya close with him to leave before she gets swarmed*
Maya: *freaking out*
Mia: *frowns and follows after Lee*
*Crono bolts for it, apparently having had enough for the day.*
von Karma: *frustrated and confused, storms out of the courtroom as well*
Samuel: *Doesn't comment, merely follows von Karma, though apparently quite displeased*
