{A remote area at the top of Terror Mounatin} {Late at night} ... (The speaker wanted us to meet up here today.) Acy, are you sure you're well enough to- *seeming very tired* ... ... Yes. And stop worrying that I'll be afraid being on a different planet or something. My owner and brother were like aliens to me anyway. Heh. *holds hat on against the wind* "There you all are. I didn't mean to keep you all waiting, and I'm sorry about the delays..." ! *a much-older looking Detective Gray walks up* I'm glad to see you again. Happy to see you again, too. I probably seem much older to you now even though not a lot of time has passed... I've been through a lot recently. Sounds like it, being a space cop or something. And you must be Acy. A pleasure to meet you. Charmed, pops. *coughs a few times into scarf* So, where's the spaceship? Well, we couldn't take off here without a lot noticing. I'll simply teleport us to a sort of space garage where we can. We can talk on the way. (It might get my mind off of my irrational new fears of space travel...) If you're ready... To Xiao-Yani! *they teleport off*
{? ? ?} The mouse is watching, cats.
You can run~ Planets, universes, points in time... I've gotcha covered like an itchy starched quilt on Christmas Eve!
...
That stupid stupid stupid jester... Heh. I should've never watched him.
Oh, no more time for banter. Looks like it finally happened, according to this thing... Time to get going.
This chase will end today.

{Xiao-Yani} {Dow Town - Square} *Gray, Xue, and Acy walk out of a cylindrical glass elevator* Here we are, just in time for the Fall Festival! The Fall Festival? Just a celebration nationwide celebrating what humans call “Autumn”. It’s quite a beautiful time. *Multiple colored leaves fall from trees nearby* Where are we, again? This is Dow Town. It’s an entirely large underground village. You can barely notice, though! *motions around at the grass and trees* Indeed. Well, if we can look around… I think we caught up enough on the flight. Just know that I need to speak to you later, okay? Have fun. ~Begin Investigation~ Partner Button: Acy Hey. Do you see anything around here we should look into? Nah, not really. I say you just look around, talk to people, have fun. This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Yeah, yeah, your little badge. … (It’s not “little”! It’s a symbol of my entire career!)~~~ *There are multiple shops and stalls nearby and people are gathered in the town square. Colorful leaves fall from the beautiful surrounding trees.* *More colored leaves fall down around Xue and Acy* It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Yeah, sort of. *Some benches are set out in the square* Hm… No vandalism here! You’re not leaving already, are you? What? No! Just checking… For suspicious fingerprints… With what? … (Argh, she’s got me there…)*A statue of the town‘s mayor is in the plaza. It has a plaque that says “OUR HONORABLE MAYOR CEE“.* Hm… He looks like a commendable mayor. Pfft, is that all you have to say? All I want to do right now is draw a mustache on this guy. (But he already has that rockin’ goatee!) Oh, the town’s fountain. Want to throw a coin in? I don’t have any money… I lost the last case, remember? Then throw in your badge or something, what’s it matter? … This is a symbol that I am a professional! Don’t mind me right now. I know this is your first time back on Xiao-Yani and the festival’s going on, so you should just check things out. Are you sure you don’t want to talk about what you called me here for? There’s plenty of time… Now, where to find a nice cup of tea? Go to Stall 1 Welcome to my stall, kid! I’m Bob Sledd and I’ve got a variety of souvenirs for ya! Like what? I’ve got this notebook with a bunch of colorful leaves pressed into it! … No, thanks. (Couldn’t I make that myself?!)Go to Stall 2 Hey. Uh… Hello. Welcome to Paula Granate’s, like, refreshment shop! What are your drink choices? Um… Soda. Only one flavor. What would that be? Red flavor. Sounds… delicious. I’ll pass. Go to Stall 3 Welcome to my stall selling lovely indoor furniture. I named it Stall In. Indoor furniture? You know those posters on dentist waiting room walls that are all terrifying and scare you into brushing and flossing all the time? … Yes? I’ve got dozens. … Not this time, sorry. *a young girl seems to be making a speech* … and if you thought the interplanetary economy was bad, wait until you get to alternate universes… … … … I’m older than she is but I still have no clue what she’s blabbing on about. Maybe you should check back when she’s not busy giving a speech. Look around a bit. Talk to Girl with Microphone (after visiting stalls) Excuse me, but- Hello, citizen! Are you enjoying the festival? Yes, it’s great. I saw you giving a speech a moment ago, are you- *cuts off Xue* I’m the daughter of Mayor Cee! Name’s Emma. Xue Blanche. Acy Skye. Whatcha need? Talk- Dow Town So, about your father’s town… Dow Town is a beautiful town! Despite being one of the most culturally rich and best agricultural places in Zylince, stepping here in our modest underground area is like stepping back a moment in time! All the buildings are styled after 1st Revival homes, but can be just as technologically adapt! (Daddy’s little brochure.) Also, our town’s home to the famous Tower of Archmages! Tower of what? ((The next subject becomes available to talk about.)) This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Oh, cool! You’re a Professional at Work. Inc. working for Boss, huh? … (Mocked by a little girl…) ~~~ Talk- Tower of What You said something about the tower of… Archmages! The most powerful magic-users from all across the galaxy have gathered there to assist our King in deciding stuff! If they’re so powerful, then how come they just haven’t taken over the world or anything? Um… Money? Good ol’ cash, saving the world from destruction once again. But the point is that there’s so many powerful and famous people there! You have to visit! Tourists are allowed today! Maybe later. Where is it? Yes, indeed. Where is this huge glowing tower that can’t possibly be that large glowing tower in the distance? … Okay, fine. Thanks for your help? I'll be sure to let my father know you all should be allowed in. Oh, wait another minute! Take this! -Festival Poster added to the Court Record!- Thanks. Anytime you need something, you know where to find the spectacular Emma Cee! ~~~ (After examining everything needed and talking to Emma)”Rejoice, villagers! The bridge over the river has been repaired, you can now visit the Tower of Archmages!” Talk about convenient timing. Well, let’s go. *walks over the stone bridge* *follows* {Outside the Tower of Archmages} *The tower is made of white stone and has an ethereal golden glow; The grass surrounding it is teal as if just being near the tower was enough to charge it magically. Surprisingly, only a scarce number of villagers are around.* It’s lovely! How the heck did you not see this monstrosity and think “magical tower”? What did you think this was, the McGantfred’s of Xiao-Yani? You never know! Hm… Odd. It’s all sparkly… It has the chlorophyll of a killer. There’s no reason to go back. I was just admiring the architecture. It’s a few slabs of rock. It seems we can go no further than this. We could, but I think those guards wouldn’t like it. *More colorful leaves fall* Ah… Climbing one of these would be fun. Go for it, Xue. I dare you. Alright! *climbs up into tree* … *falls on face* Gah! Someone wasn’t the outdoorsy kid. These buildings are designed beautifully. *A guard stands in front of the entrance to the Tower* Talk to the Guard Excuse me, but could you- … No entry is permitted yet. Leave at once. Hold on, the mayor’s kid just said we were allowed. … I have received no notifications from my GrimaceMagazine page yet. Until I get a message from Mayor Cee, I am not permitted to allow entry, despite what a relative says. Oh, well… We can check back another time, I suppose. Hey, Xue. ? Isn’t there something you present to everyone but it’s never actually useful that might be fairly useful now? ~~~ PRESENT: Badge This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. … … Ah, Mr. Blanche! I have a GrimaceMagazine notification from Mayor Cee saying specifically to allow entry to a Mr. Blanche and associates. Please enter. … (That was it?) *The grunt steps aside* Alright, finally! Let’s go! {Inside the Tower of Archmages} *The inside is just as beautiful as outside- The walls and floor are white, but the floor has an intricate design with gold. Doors and staircases line the room.* Wow. *looks around* It’s quiet… Too quiet. I agree with you there, sis! ? *An Elf with multiple piercings wearing a torn-up denim vest, an old white T-shirt, and patched-up jeans jumps into the scene* Yo, kids! I assume this is your first time to the TOWER of ARCHMAGES? … what Ah, I guess you’ve never seen a bona fide elf before! You’re… an elf? Yeah, just don’t ask me to make toys for ya! The name’s Gus! Gus Tiwynds! Nice to meetcha! … Xue Blanche. (All the fables and legends of silent, wise forest elves I read are ruined…)Talk- Gus I’ve been workin’ here for 200 years! I’m the Official Door Maintenance Elf! Door Maintenance? Yeah! All these magical doors are a real pain to keep workin’ and clean! What is with all the doors? Hahahahahahahahah! ! You don’t know our leader, do you? Uh… no? Ah. His name’s Bumbledoor. He’s the most powerful door wizard in over 5000 sentient life-supporting worlds. Bumbledoor? *a large wooden door appears and falls on Gus* ! BUMBLEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR! … Well then. ~~~ This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Hah! You’re such a kid! I’m 423 years old and kickin’! … (And yet…) Yeah, the festival! It’s great! Have you been already? 159 times! Talk- Permisison We were allowed in f- Oh, right! I’ve gotta give you something. Just one sec! *Gus runs off through a random door* … … *Gus runs back in with something in hand* This is a gift from Bumbledoor! Don’t ask me why, you’ll have to do it yourself! -Red Rotary Phone added to the Court Record!- A… red phone? Yeah! Nice and shined up for ya! By my labor! Oh, well… Thanks. ~~~ Look, I’ve gotta get back to work. Feel free to look around at your leisure! Alright. *Gus runs off into a random door* What an… unusual character. (I think that’s what half the readers just said.)Fourth Wall: >:C ”EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK!” What the-?! It came from outside! Come on! *Xue and Acy run out* {Dow Town - Square} *runs in* What?! What’s going on?! Something! Something terrible happened at my festival! R-right over there! *points at something* ! ! *There‘s a person laying motionless on the ground*

Wait a minute… Is that- P-prince! The prince is… dead! *The townspeople start panicking* Wait a minute, isn’t… (Argh! No time for questions now! The police are going to be here in a split second!) *doesn’t seem to be bleeding* Prince?! Hey, Prince! Artist-formerly-known-as-Prince! Anything?! … His fists are all balled up… *checks quickly* Not clutching anything and there’s no blood on his hands. Feeling for his pulse, though… He’s gone. His clothes aren’t torn or bloodied… There likely wasn’t much of a fight. I’m just surprised guards didn’t stop the killer. Examine- Wound*There’s a stab wound in his chest but it doesn’t seem to be bleeding.* He… Well, I have to wonder how long ago he died… -Crime Scene Notes added to the Court Record!- Examine- Crown His crown is intact… I thought the killer would steal this for sure. Wait. There’s… a gem missing from it, right there in the center? Hm… Why was that one worth taking but not the others, if the killer had the time? -Victim’s Crown details added to the Court Record!- ~~~ ? ? ?: ”Stand back! You there, get away from the corpse now!” ! *pulls Xue back into the crowd* *a fleet of small spaceships surrounding a larger one flies up* *is beamed into the larger ship* *the spaceships immediately fly off* *a large group of soldiers start questioning people nearby* … Hm. That was… the prince? There’s something odd about that, though. The prince was supposed to have died a while ago… Before I left, I mean. Put space travel on hold for what looked like forever for some reason until the King said otherwise. … That doesn’t make sense. He obviously wasn’t murdered around here recently or… ever, because the area is too clean… ~Investigation Complete!~ Hey, you! ! I saw you poking around the dead body! What an obvious sign of guilt! I should’ve never let you into the stupid tower! I was just investigating the scene! For all we know, he could’ve- A likely story! Come clean and admit that you did it! After all… -TESTIMONY- Sight for Boor Eyes It’s entirely possible that you got to the Prince in the first place by using one of the Tower of Archmages’ doors! Then you used another to deposit the body in the square after the murder! And if he did die from a stabbing, who would be better than Mr. Sharp Metal Arm here? Not to mention that we were observing everyone else at this festival! You’re the only one that hasn’t been accounted for! ~~~ You’re blaming me? I may only be a grunt, but you’ll grunt when I… prove you… did it? And the joke falls apart. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- It’s entirely possible that you got to the Prince in the first place by using one of the Tower of Archmages’ doors! HOLD IT! You’re just making that up, aren’t you? You got to attack the Prince and you were in a place where there were thousands of door portals. This isn’t a hypothesis, it’s an observation! Then you used another to deposit the body in the square after the murder! HOLD IT! How would I know which door is which? … I… don’t know! And if he did die from a stabbing, who would be better than Mr. Sharp Metal Arm here? HOLD IT! My arm isn’t sharp! That’s one of those arms that can transform, isn’t it? … Well, only into an arm canno- I knew it! Not to mention that we were observing everyone else at this festival! You’re the only one that hasn’t been accounted for! HOLD IT! Couldn’t it have been anyone else in the Tower? Nonsense! Only the most honest and humble mages are picked to work there! OBJECTION! This proves you’re wrong! Actually, no. It makes you wrong. Grr… Come on, Xue, you didn’t do it! Present something else! And hurry up! *points* I can’t believe he’s suddenly blaming me! I think you have what you need to defend yourself, though. All you did was investigate the corpse. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) Then you used another to deposit the body in the square after the murder! PRESENT: Crime Scene Notes OBJECTION! Grunt! Killer! You think that the Prince was just recently killed. Yes… Why? You obviously haven’t been in the army long. The Prince has been dead for months and the state of the corpse proves it! WHAAAAAAT?! How did you not know th- Objection! Maybe you were the one who took the body and put it there using the door portals! What? That’s not possible. The body should’ve decomposed already if he died months ago. W-well… uh… ? ? ?: ”Hey, moron!” ! *a small UFO hovers above them* UFO: Haven’t you been listening? The General wants you back at Fort Tastik! Come on! Uh… Uh, yes sir! *salutes* … *runs away* *watches him run off* … That was horrible! Poor prince… … By the way, where did Gray go? I don’t know. He’s probably around… He still has to tell us the important news that might be related to the crimes in Neopia. … Well, the soldiers will handle the case with the Prince. By the way, what was his name? Huh? Prince Ipal? … Nevermind.
{North of Dow Town} Gray? Are you around here? We’re probably getting close to the wall… *shouts* HEY, GRAY!”You whippersnappers keep it down!” ! *bursts into the scene* I swear that I didn’t fight through the Underseas War for some crazy young whippersnappers to be scaring my animals on this perfect farming day! … Uh. Sorry, sir. You’d better be sorry! When I was your age I wasn’t one of those fedora-wearing, half-cyborg shouty people who shouts the names of colors at the walls! I was one of the obedient kids and they all said “You’re such a good kid” and they were right about it! Talk- Your Name And… you are? You don’t know the town’s farmer?! The name’s Doug Gonnit! You’d better remember it, Sonny! Xue Blan- You’ll only give me your name when I ask for it, whippersnapper! Talk- Farming You said… you were farming? You bet I was! I bet you didn’t know this, but I’m the best farmer in the whole town! You just said you were the only farmer in the town. Exactly! Winning by default! Number one in a competition with one person! Look out for number one, whippersnappers! That’s me! So… Where’s your farm? It’s right over there! It’s a sparkling example of a proper farm on a proper hill run by a proper farmer! And who better to run a farm better than a war hero in the Underseas War?! They say all heroes start out as farmers! I’ve got those whippersnappers beat, I’m a farmer that started out as a hero! *odd sounds come from the barn* … What do you have in there? Kids! … *a bunch of young goats run out of the barn* … … Ha. Ha. Ha. *pets a goat* Aw. This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. A professional what? Some Grade-A whippersnapper? *gigglesnort* … (Stop talking to me…) I hate these doggone festivals! All the young whippersnappers are throwing tomatoes at each other and they get everywhere and all I have to say is “ Hey you whippersnappers, how about you grow those tomatoes yourself and then throw them?!” The young people don’t understand the value of a good vegetable today. And don’t you tell me a tomato is a fruit, because it’s a conspiracy! … Uh. I can’t believe the types of things they’re showing on the ol’ television today! I don’t know why you’re writing this horrifying “Murder the Prince” fan fiction, but I’m telling you that I’ll report you just like any other whippersnapper on my territory! I disapprove of that cosplay! … (I don’t know how to respond…) Get off my lawn! Talk- Glasses Those are some… nice glasses you have there. You’re not going to earn my trust with your hollow compliments, whippersnapper. In my day, we- The Prince is dead. Did you see anything? HOW RUDE! First you interrupt a true war hero while he was talking and then you talk about your horrible fan fiction about murdering a Prince! In my day, there was no murdering and there were no Princes! You just watch as the princess gets kidnapped and then you go through 8 worlds to save her! And why are they called “worlds”? They’re levels that look different! If you want to make it realistic, give him a spaceship! I’d love to see the plumber guy in space! *nods* … *nods* … *nods* … … And that’s the importance of sponges. Have you been listening? Yes. So, about what you saw- I didn’t see nothing! I’ve been in my house on my farm all day after feeding the animals and watering the crops! When did you do that? Long before you whippersnappers showed up! Hm… ~~~ Mind if we look ar- Only if you whippersnappers don’t touch anything! (We can look around, but can’t touch anything. Joy.)~Begin Investigation~ Partner Button: Acy Huh? Do you see anything suspicious around here? Hm… Well, I seem him hastily locking the barn doors again. ”That’s the worst thing about these doggone whippersnapper animals, dropping their dung wherever they just feel like it!” … I don’t think we need anything from in there anyway.
This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Yeah, yeah, your little badge. … (It’s not “little”! It’s a symbol of my entire career!)
What do you have to say about them? Gray? He seems to be an okay person. He better be serious about whatever was so important you had to come to a different planet for it, though… … Yes? So… Come around here often? You’re an idiot. I don’t have much to say about that. ~~~ You whippersnappers think you just have the right to just trespass on my property whenever you want! When I was your age… (I’m just going to step over there.) The barn seems to be locked up. Well… I doubt this guy really has anything to hide, and if we ask to go in… … Goats. Just goats. Space goats…? I don’t even So this is as far as the underground village goes… I was expecting some type of mural on this wall. This is where the great Doug Gonnit lives! It’s locked up, unsurprisingly. Asking to go in wouldn‘t be a great idea at the moment… Examine- Pile of Hay I wonder if there’s something in this hay… Maybe there’s a needle. *searches* … … ! W-what is this?! A… syringe? You whippersnappers hold it! I don’t know what that doggone thing is or what young hooligan put it in my hay, but I have nothing to do with it! My hands are clean! I wouldn’t hide some sharp pointy thing in something I’m going to feed to my animals just like how I wouldn’t hide glass in my food! … Xue? … * Night Vision* … … !!! Huh? Xue? What’s wrong? That… shadow… That shadow was… someone I had seen before… Either Drew, or… -Horrifying Syringe added to the Court Record!- … I doubt that Gray’s just around here. Before we jump to conclusions, we should check at one other place… Where? Where were we going to stay? His house, probably… I thought he might be around here because his house is fairly far away. Well, he’s not in town. There might’ve been a reason why he went home if he’s a space cop and the prince turned up dead again… Well… ~Investigation Complete!~ There’s no harm in going to check.

{Detective Gray’s House- Living Room} *Enter a house with gray walls and a light gray tile floor. Living room furniture with some advanced technology is about.* Fortunately I remembered the code to get in… Everything’s very… gray. *shouts* Gray, are you here?! … … Hm. ~Begin Investigation~ Partner Button: Acy Need some help, here? Do you see anything suspicious around here? No, not really. It might be worth checking that door over there. (Doors, doors, doors…) This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Yeah, yeah, your little badge. … (It’s not “little”! It’s a symbol of my entire career!) What do you have to say about them? Gray? He seems to be an okay person. He better be serious about whatever was so important you had to come to a different planet for it, though… … Yes? So… Come around here often? You’re an idiot. I don’t have much to say about that. ~~~ Is everything gray? It seems so… … I don’t get it. There’s nothing on the table? Splendid deduction. What in the worlds is this? It’s… a thing. Let’s see here… *pokes it* ”I arnedway ouyay boutay tairssay robay!”[/tt] It’s an odd foreign language…
Huh. Very hi-tech. It doesn’t look like it can automatically find the remote, however… What a shame. Examine- End table This is a nice table. It’s an end table. But it’s still a table. But you have to specify the type of table. Would a table by any other name be just as sweet? … Hey, there’s something sticking out from under the lamp. Let’s move this… *Xue picks up the lamp and puts it on the ground* What is it? It’s a business card. A travel agent business card… how unusual. Wait. You have to flip it turnways. What’s it say?! “Fall Festival. Mysterious Contender, afternoon.” … Odd. -Business Card added to the Court Record!- ~~~ Examine- Door I wonder where this door goes? A magical world of alien creatures? … Oh, wait. Let’s see. *tries to open door* *the door doesn’t open* I have a feeling that these doors are a bigger inconvenience than I usually think. It has some type of code lock. ~~~ This phone looks rather similar to mine. Upon examining it, though… It doesn’t seem to be working. Whatever. We have to find Gray. (But it might be worth coming back to see this again later.) Examine- Phone (after examining both required things) Well, we can’t really do anything else… Do you want to try and hook up your new phone? Maybe. I get a feeling that I’m sort of supposed to… Let me see it. *Acy replaces the broken phone with the new phone* There, I plugged it in. It stands out nicely- *the phone rings* … Welp. Better answer it. *picks up phone* … Hello? Ah, Xue. I’m glad you answered. I knew you would pick up, though. …? (I can’t make out the voice speaking very well… It‘s an odd voice.) Who is this? I am the Mysterious Contender. I am a phantom in the night and a knight that is a phantom. [/tt] I see. Why are you calling? Don’t worry. Gray’s here. He’s fine, hm.[/tt] ! Where are you? The Hall of Archmages. We met up here on business. Do you want to speak to him?[/tt] Yes! Very well. Hm. One moment…[/tt] … *crosses arms* Hello?[/tt] Gray, is that you? Ah, yes, it is. I presume you’re all the way over at my house?[/tt] How did you know…? That’s where we called.[/tt] Oh, um… Yes, then. Xue, I want you to do two things. First… Find the key in the room and go downstairs to the computer. Find a GrimaceMagazine conversation saved.
Then show up at the Tower of Archmages. We’ll be waiting, hm.[/tt] *Dial tone* *hangs up* … Who was that? … A person named The Mysterious Contender. They said that Gray’s at the Tower of Archmages, but first we have to find something on the computer. But there’s no computer around here. How do we get downstairs? Maybe we can find the code through investigation. Let’s see… ((Examining anything now has a different response from before.)) … I still don’t get it. Is that supposed to be… That pink guy from case 1? Hm… He looks like something from a webcomic. Is there any secret in the table? There’s no drawers or anything, and nothing’s on it… So, no. This thing again. Look at it! It has to give us a clue! *pokes the machine* *nothing happens* I have to wonder what the purpose of this machine is. We can’t go that way yet. Let’s look around first. Don’t you think we should unplug that and take it with us? I’m hoping for another call explaining what the heck is going on. Examine- Couch Maybe there’s something in the couch cushions… Let’s take a look. *seaches* ……. It seems to be a 7 card? I’ll hold on to it for now. ~~~ Examine- TV Let’s check here. *examines TV* Maybe there’s something good on. … I didn’t find the remote, but this was hidden behind it. A 5 card? Apparently so. I’ll hold on to it for now. ~~~ Examine- End table There was already something hidden here. There might be something else. This is the end table of secrets. *finds something hidden under a table leg* An… 11 card? I’ll hold on to it for now. ~~~ Examine- Door (after finding all numbers) We found all these cards… Maybe we should try the door now. I’ll enter the code. *Acy inputs 7 5 11* *the door opens, revealing a set of stairs descending to another room* It worked. I don’t think we need those cards anymore, then. I can remember that code if needed. Let’s go. *descends, running* Be careful. *also descends*
{Detective Gray’s House- Hall} *Multiple doors line the gray hallway.* More doors? The one at the end of the hallway is open. Let’s try that first. Partner Button: Acy Yes? Do you see anything suspicious around here? Well, we’re in a hallway of locked doors… True. Let’s see if we can find a room with a computer. This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Yeah, yeah, your little badge. … (It’s not “little”! It’s a symbol of my entire career!) What do you think of this? Well, you supposedly spoke to this Mysterious Contender… Gray should be fine. What do you have to say about them? Gray? He seems to be an okay person. He better be serious about whatever was so important you had to come to a different planet for it, though… … Yes? So… Come around here often? You’re an idiot. I don’t have much to say about that. ~~~ What? Want to go back? Just for a second. Alright. ((Return to previous area.)) Locked. Does the combination work? … No, sadly. Maybe you should try and bust it open with your brute strength! I’m not destroying Gray’s house! Examine- Open door OR Move- Open door Ah, this one’s open. I see a computer from in there. *walks in* {Detective Gray’s House- Computer Room} *The room has little more than a computer in it.*
((Return to previous area.))
This is an interesting plant. I wonder what type it is? Plastic. Oh… Examine- Computer There’s something still up. What’s it say? Well… … Wait. That’s supposed to happen… tomorrow. Take a look…

That doesn’t make any sense. … The prince has turned up dead in a small town after months. This computer is displaying a conversation that’s supposed to happen tomorrow. And then there’s that person who just knew too much. … (I wouldn’t say this if it weren’t for my time at the forum…) It appears there’s some weird time crap going on at the moment. I’m almost inclined to agree with you on this one. -GrimaceMagazine Conversation added to the Court Record!- We need to adhere to the caller’s other demand and return to the Tower of Archmages now, also. So what, we’re going to meet this freak now? And find Gray, probably. ~Investigation Complete!~ Let’s go. Don’t be so hasty. ? You forgot to take your phone with you. Yeah, true… I’ll grab it on the way out. -Red Rotary Phone returned.- *leaves the area with Acy following*
{Inside the Tower of Archmages} *More grunt soldiers have assembled and are investigating the area.* Here we a- x20 : ”Hey, who’s that guy?!” ”Isn’t he the murderer?!” ”Get him! Get him!” ”Nice hat!” Uh. ”That ain‘t right.” x20 : ”Sorry, Captain!” ”I feel so ashamed!” ”Can I have his hat?” ? ”Now, c‘mon. Stand the heck aside.”*The Grunts stand aside, letting an odd-looking man walk up* *nods* Dude. Sorry about these kids here, they don’t know what the heck they’re doin’. Apologies accepted. *holds onto hat* Who are you, pops? x20 : ”How can you not know the Captain?!” ”Get out of here, you fools!” *waves hand* Shut up. ! You don’t have to refer to me by title or anything. I’m Sob Baget. Nice to meetcha. *offers hand* A pleasure to meet you. *shakes hand* This goat ran through earlier and I had to clean up its droppings with my bare hands, by the way. *lets go of hand* Uh- But hey, you did die once when you crash landed and all that, so it doesn’t really matter about that hygiene. ! … (When I crashed in the NTWF in July…) Your ship did what? Jegus, did you just emerge from a sewer to attack us or what? *steps away from Acy* This is getting us nowhere. Talk- Crash Landing My ship did crash, but I landed on a life-supporting planet to meet a friendly race. I’m only back now. Some friendly race, yeah. If you knew what the heck you were doing, you could’ve said to be their freakin’ god or something and then had ‘em escort you back here. … Uh. Looks like you didn’t, though. … I wonder how everyone else has been doing, though… Well, the decree about shutting down the space program was removed faster than an obese man at a buffet. The cause was the ol’ Prince’s death and the killer’s attempt to get the heck outta here usin’ some spacecraft. ! Who was the killer? Some screwed up little turd or something, I’m not keepin’ track. You don’t know his name? Heck no, I’m too busy with all the chicks hitting me up on GrimaceMagazine to care ‘bout that. He wasn’t the real killer, though. Or so they claim, y’know. And now he’s turned up dead again. It’s quite an inconvenience, yep. ~~~ This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Y’ever look real closely at those badge things? That one looks a bit like a dysentery. … (This never works out…) Can you tell me about this? What, are you gonna send me a Grimace Request or something later? Fine, just don’t send me any game messages. Have you seen this person around? That’s quite a face, yes. … But have you seen it recently? You’re showing the face to me right now. Forget it. I can’t tell you crap about that. Talk- Tower Entrance We’re here because we’re trying to meet with Detective Gray. Ah yeah, him. The one who wrote Cooke’s Books, right? Yes. Is he here? Yeah, with the head wizard guy. Bumbledoor or whatever. Great. Can we go now? Yep. There’s one thing you should know, however. Huh? We’re on to a suspect. You should check back later. I will, then. Come on. Let’s see if we can find the right place. {Bumbledoor’s Office} *Everything seems to be an blend of all colors with a lot of glowing glass. The office is huge.* I wonder where everyone i- It's a pleasure to meet you, young visitors. Who’s there? *an intangible door appears in the center of the room* *steps out, mustache flowing in the wind* … … … (That mustache could solve intergalactic conflicts…) *wipes tear from eye* I am the wizard Bumbledoor. What is that you’re wearing around your eyes? Sentient life relies on their incorrect vision to guide them in a galaxy where the invisible or intangible, the most important of all, cannot be seen. Information and vision of all planets is flowing to me from The Great Door in the sky. … However, I still trip Gus at times. Listen! Have you seen Detective Gray? Child, asking me if I have seen something is incredibly brash. Now tell me, what have you truly “seen“? Er… I-I’m sorry. *strokes mustache* A physical being on which plane of existence? Um… This plane? This plane, on which the snakes of evil and destruction need to get off. Let me locate the being for you. *glows in a multicolored aura* Nngh… What’s wrong? *temporal leak* His aura is incredibly powerful… ƉѲѲЯҒЯѦЄ! ! *THUNK* BUMBLEDOOOOOOOOOOOOR! I have acquired my results. What did you find?! The being you seek is no longer within your reach. What do you mean? *hands start glowing with a lavender aura* He has traveled back almost effortlessly through the fabric of time. Through… time?! I can not evaluate his current status as anything other than ambivalence. It seems that his preferences lie not in tearing through the delicate fabric, but remaining where he was. If that’s true… Why did that Mysterious Contender person tell us to come here? You are relying on your sight again. How are we relying on our sight? Sometimes a piece of evidence is not a vacuous hint. It is something more. (This phone… What‘s with all the secrets about it?) Hello? Anyone here? … … That wasn’t relying on sight! This seems to be normal. Ah, but is it? It is. Oh. So clean and shiny. Examine- Rotary Dial Maybe it’s a… number we‘re looking for? I don’t know. Try it. … But what number to enter… The Great Door tells me that this piece of information already lies in the vast expanse of knowledge you have gained from this quest. Hm… (Maybe the cards from earlier?)*Xue inputs 7 5 11* *click* ! *starts whirring as it rapidly changes* Gah! *drops it* *transforms* *transforms into a green phone* … Well, that was pointless. Not quite. Your sight tells you that you have gained a useless green phone. Your eyes alone can never tell you the full truth. In reality… This phone has transformed. … Okay. I guess we’ll just figure out what that means. In due time, The Great Door shall open for you. Until that time… My duties have been completed.*Bumbledoor exits through the intangible door, which instantly vanishes* That was odd. I feel like I just finished using a dangerous new hallucinogenic drug. Gray’s gone back in time… Are all cases this weird on your planet? Weird cases just follow me like a fat child and an ice cream truck. … On that note. -Green Rotary Phone updated in the Court Record!- I wonder if there’s a suspect yet… Let’s go find out. {Inside the Tower of Archmages- First Floor} *The area seems to be deserted now.* Where’s everyone gone? Oh, you mean all those soldier types? They left pretty quick! I dunno what they found. Did they have a suspect? I think they might’ve mentioned an arrest! I wasn’t listening too closely to them. Did they mention a name? Nope, and if they did then I didn’t hear. Sorry, can’t help ya. They may already be at the Detention Center. If they’re not in questioning. Well, I think- *a trapdoor appears and falls on Gus* ! BUMBLEDOOOOOOOOOOOR! I think that’s our cue to leave. … Probably. (I’m eager to leave this tower of archidiots, myself.)
{Detention Center} I wonder if the arrested Wyn is already here… ”I’m tell all you ‘til my face is blue! The committer of the crime, I don’t know who!” Who’s that rhyming guy? It can’t be. *appears in detention center* Yo dawg, if you can stop sippin’ your eggnog for this approachin’ winter smog, it seems I’ve been locked up by some ol’ hog. Dulcet Staccato? what *smirks* Ah, if it ain’t Xue. I thought to the other side you passed through; Once the crash happened, we all knew. I’m still very much alive, thanks. What happened to you? Looks like here I’ve been locked up because they apparently chalked it up that I was some killer, big shock. I haven’t done anything, it’s details they’re tryin’ to wring! Oh, boy. This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional- You presentin’ that all the time is almost regressional. … (I hate starting these rhymes that insult me…) That crown’s gonna make me frown with it’s missin’ gem from which these problems stem. You wouldn’t have a motive for taking the gem… right? ‘Course not, with my wealth I could’ve bought a thousand of those tots. Do you know anything about this? … If that evidence I might borrow… *looks* Isn’t that set for tomorrow? It is. *shakes head* The flow of time’s another crime ‘bout which I cannot rhyme. Awfully fancy way of saying “I don’t know”. Who’s the cat? It’s lookin’ a little bit fat! What?! … Aaaand now we have another murder on our hands. Ol’ Gray still in the fray after all this foul play. How’s he today? I don’t really know, h- We shouldn’t mention it. …He went to a chess competition. I don’t know, yo. Talk- Dulcet I… don’t understand. You guys know one another? We worked on a case once a long time ago, I think. But dawg, it was a great case workin’ with this legal ace! … So you’re an attorney, or- Best of the defense, but now that things are gettin’ tense, I need to think about how the trial will commence… I might defend myself, but goin’ against me is that head elf. I can defend you. There y’all go, little bro. … How do they blame you, though? They found DNA or some stuff, though I’m thinkin’ it might be a bluff. It might also be the weapon but I can’t go be checkin’. … When is the trial? Tomorrow, you know. Of course. ? ? ?: ”And the prosecutor is already set…” ! *walks in* … I knew that you’d probably show up around here too. … What the heck are you doing here? Millions of detention centers across hundreds of planets and you walk into this one. I’m actually here because… It’s about a criminal named Dr. Lylin. Doctor Lion? Lylin. The origin on the syringe have brought me here. I see. One more thing, Blanche. ? *crosses arms* We may have that one case behind us now, but that doesn’t increase my opinion of your skills as a lawyer. I’m going to win tomorrow’s trial. You may as well just go back to the forum. *Evilworth leaves the detention center* What a cheerful guy. Probably tons of fun at parties. You bein’ my lawyer in this case is clearly fate. … So you’d better set everythin’ up before it’s too late. It is getting kind of late already. The suns are setting. There was no way you could say that without sounding odd. (I guess all we can do is wait until tomorrow’s trial now, maybe wait for another call.)Wait for the flow of time to stop being a pretzel…
{Courtroom Lobby} *crosses arms* … Still thinking about our time traveling friend? Why are you not more surprised? Nothing surprises me, I guess. Hope I’m not too late for soon for my victory’s celebrate! Hello, Dulcet. I think there’s something else we should ask while we still have the ti- … While we still can. ? What’s your alibi? …… ? (I’ve never heard the Wyn be silent for this long.) I don’t remember right now, don’t really know how. It’s fine so long as you’re actually not guilty. Of course I am, I’m no sham! You mean am not- ”All enter the courtroom! The trial is about to begin!” … Well, the moment of truth has arrived. *Everyone enters the courtroom* ~~~ {Courtroom} *slams gavel* Court is now in session for the trial of Dulcet Staccato. Are the defense and prosecution ready? The defense is ready, your honor. … Honors. *tugs at sleeve* The prosecution is ready. *nods* Your opening statements. … The prosecution intends to prove tha- Never fear, citizens! I will prove the villainous villain guilty!” *kicks down door, striding over to prosecutor’s bench* Louis?! That’s my name, don’t wear it out. The co-council for the prosecution has arrived! Very good. (Very good for us, indeed.) I- What- didn’t- Your opening statement now, please! The defendant is a villainous villain who villainously committed a villainous act of vile villainy by villainously villainizing the unvillainous memory of the prince! *looks at Xue* … He didn’t do it, and the defense can prove it? *nods* Prosecution, call your witness! I call- Shut up. The prosecution calls Sob Baget to the stand. *takes the stand* Yo, everybody. *waves* Tell us about the villainous things you discovered! Chill the heck down, I’m on it. -TESTIMONY- What we freakin’ found So it’s like we’re investigatin’ and we just meet this guy. He looked like a Ken doll that got manhandled by a group of Easter Egg painting bikers. And then he mentioned somethin’ like ”Hey! You remember how the prince died, right?” So he says “Yeah, he got stabbed” like that piece of knowledge would close the entire investigation. He says the murder weapon was preserved because they couldn’t figure out the case. We go look. Lo and behold, Staccato’s recent fingerprints are all over it. ~~~ *nods* Your dire- A direct examination is not needed. However… ? Witness, tell us about what else you found! Ah, yeah. We also found a bunch of DNA evidence proving that whoever held the knife likely used it to make a much newer scar through the victim’s back. As proven by this autopsy! The court will accept this into evidence! -Mustachioed Autopsy Report added to the Court Record!- … Um. This is looking awfully conclusive… The defendant also seems to lack a clear alibi. So the villainous villain clearly did it! … *slams gavel* Defense, you will be given one chance to find a flaw in the prosecution’s logic! No way! Yes, way. Choose which statements you press wisely. (This is it, then.)

-CROSS-EXAMINATION- So it’s like we’re investigatin’ and we just meet this guy. HOLD IT! In the Tower? No, in the middle of freaking China. He looked like a Ken doll that got manhandled by a group of Easter Egg painting bikers. HOLD IT! You mean his ears- Yeah. One day I just want to see him trying to go through airport security and having to take off 200 earrings to get through the metal detector. So he met Gus, then. And then he mentioned somethin’ like ”Hey! You remember how the prince died, right?” HOLD IT! How did the prince die? Well… So he says “Yeah, he got stabbed” like that piece of knowledge would close the entire investigation. HOLD IT! If he got stabbed, why were his clothes not bloodied?! This happened a while ago, y’know. They dressed him in a different tunic so that his bloody wound wasn’t visible durin’ the funeral. Makes sense. He says the murder weapon was preserved because they couldn’t figure out the case. HOLD IT! They really couldn’t figure it out? The killer covered his tracks too well. They only got the knife with no prints on it. No prints for prince? That was the worst thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life. We go look. Lo and behold, Staccato’s recent fingerprints are all over it. HOLD IT! … … Conclusive enough for you? OBJECTION! This is the end of the road for you, Baget! That ain’t right. That isn’t right, that is. This penalty is right! *slams gavel* Gah! … … (Is everything he’s saying… the truth?) (After listening to the whole testimony again) If the defense cannot find a point to make… I can find a point to make, your honor. ? This is the murder weapon that has Staccato’s fingerprints on it. If he didn’t commit the original crime, he at least stole the knife, took the prince’s body, and attacked it! That’s ridiculous! *slams gavel* You had your chance, Mr. Blanche… Wait! I didn’t- *shakes head* Let the court accept this last bit of evidence into the court record. -Ornate Knife added to the Court Record!- I believe we’ve decided on our verdict… (There’s so much that hasn’t been pieced together yet! So much that doesn’t make sense!) This court finds the defendant, Dulcet Staccato… GUILTY This court is adjourned! {? ? ?} They say that justice is blind. The objectivity of justice is a beautiful concept. If you’ve listened to the teachings of a wise being before… Sight, as unfailingly much as one will depend on it to understand the world around them, will at some point in one’s life lead someone to a belief that is false. If the concept of blind justice did not exist, what would stop a jury or a judge from sentencing a man for his appearance alone? This is not an unfailing concept, however. In life at some point, if not half the points or 99% of them, you personally will need your sight. Something will happen to you. It may be a life threatening event. It’s that point in life when you need to say “get lost, old man” and open your eyes to save yourself from doing something stupid. If someone’s simply not willing to take a risk at being wrong, would you consider it your duty to guide them if their blindness just wasn’t all it was cracked up to be? They would be bound to get lost at some point. Perhaps you would. Perhaps you wouldn’t. If time travel has taught me anything, it’s that there’s infinite possibilities. And again, if there are infinite possibilities, there’s always the chance of something terrible happening, no matter how small the chance may be. In the event that sight was what was needed… Not to spark the intolerance that was assumed… But to save a life, what would you do? There’s not always something you can do, and that’s the problem. People believe that I can alter the flow of time however I want. That’s false. I can travel through it, but other than that, I am a spectator as the infinite branches stretch across the planes of existence. Sometimes… *steps through a door* The only thing that can be done is to get up from where you fell, whether you refuse the gift of sight or embrace it, and try again. Well, if we can- If we can… look around? (How did I know that this conversation was going to happen?) I think we caught up enough on the flight. Just know that I need to speak to you later, okay? Have fun. ~Begin Investigation~ Partner Button: Acy Hey. Do you see anything around here we should… … Actually… … Have we been here, or…? What are you talking about, Xue? … Nothing. ~~~ *There are multiple shops and stalls nearby and people are gathered in the town square. Though there are colorful leaves on the trees, none seem to be falling.* *The trees have beautifully but unusually colored leaves.* Nice. Yeah, I guess… *Some benches are set out in the square* Hm… no vandalism here. You’re not- Leaving? No. You’re freaking me out a bit. Whatever. Let’s… Um, let’s go. *A statue of the town’s mayor is in the plaza. It has a plaque that says “OUR HONORABLE MAYOR CEE”.* Hm… He looks like a commendable mayor. Pfft, is that all you have to say? … … Is that all you have to say? Huh? Forget I said anything. Oh, the town’s fountain. Want to throw a coin in? I don’t have any money. Then throw in your badge or something. What’s it matter? Ah ha… Yeah. … Are you okay? I’m fine. Talk to Gray Don’t mind me right now. I know this is your first time back on Xiao-Yani and the festival’s going on, so you should just check things out. … Hey, Gray. Actually, I think we have plenty of time to look around later. (Actually, I think I really should talk to him for some reason…) You don’t want to miss the festival, do you? It’s nothing special. Hey, now. They’re working hard on it. Look, I’ll be here. I… If you insist. Go to Stall 1 Welcome to my stall, kid! I’m Bob Sledd and I’ve got a variety of souvenirs for ya! Like what? I’ve got this notebook with a bunch of colorful leaves pressed into it! … No, thanks. Go to Stall 2 Hey. Hello. Welcome to Paula Granate’s, like, refreshment shop! I’m not thirsty, sorry. Pfft, whatever. Next in line! Go to Stall 3 Welcome to my stall selling lovely indoor furniture. I named it Stall In. Indoor furniture? You know those- *holds up hand* Um, nevermind. Huh? Okay. … That’s when they said “No, it would be better if the United States of Wynmerica didn’t get involved”. … … I don’t get what she’s going on about. Something or another. Maybe we should go somewhere else. Talk to Emma (after talking to everyone else) Excuse me, but- Hello, citizen! Are you enjoying the festival? Yes, it’s great. You’re Emma Cee, aren’t you? Huh? Oh, right! You should know a big important person like me! How did you know that already? I feel like I’ve probably been here before. … I guess? Talk- Dow Town Didja visit the Tower of Archmages if you’ve been here before? What’s that? I assume the tower over there. Right! This town is great! ((You don't have the ability to present anything.)) Talk- Tower of Archmages What’s the Tower for, then? The people there are the few who can help the King decide stuff! So they’re like his advisors? He still vetoes ‘em a lot, though. Oh. Well, thanks for your help. Wait! Before you go- … Oh, you already have a poster. Forget it. I already have a- What the heck?! !? *steps back* Hey, what’s all that stuff? Uh, Xue? *waves off* … ! Acy, over here. *walks away from Emma* You’re not going to murder me now, are you? *walks over anyway* Don’t you remember we did this already? … Some things seem sort of familiar, but it’s probably nothing. Does all this evidence crap look like nothing to you? Okay, you’ve got a point there. What, you think we’re in a time loop or something? I don’t know. Just… Don’t think I’m crazy, okay? Well… This mentions that there’s going to be a dead prince of some kind early in the town square… Gray’s going to meet someone later on… And then this conversation will happen? Maybe we’ll be able to see these things happen. But if we have done this before, chances are that we went to the Tower of Archmages already. Y’think we should go talk to Gray or something instead? (Maybe he knows what the heck is going on…) Yeah, sounds like a good idea. ~~~ *Gray is still where he was before.* Gray! Ah, it’s my favorite defense attorney. How are you doing, now? We want to talk to you now. Finished looking around already? Albeit your hastiness in wanting to talk to me about what I called you here for, I don’t want to spoil such a charming festival. Listen. I’m all ears. Have we… um, gone back in time? … My word, you figured this out before I finished my first cup of tea. You’re hastier than I thought. You know? Do I know? This is the reason I called you, Xue. No other defense attorney would do- they’d wander foolishly down the path they’ve taken before. You didn’t even leave town. I understand… This has to do with it? Correct. Prince Ipal will be here, dead, in a matter of minutes. I didn’t do anything the first time. You had to collect evidence, then. But now- Now’s the time we do something about it. This is all so confusing… *chuckles a bit, setting teacup down* You have the ability to piece things together well once you get past that pessimism. You’ve already proven that. So the prince will really- *a spark of light appears nearby* Ssh. *the spark appears as if it slices the air itself open, then materializes the prince’s corpse* *click**it falls harmlessly to the ground* And… got it. Got what? This picture. Do you see this? We just did. It’s a slice in the fabric of time. … Yeah, we’ll be able to convince people that’s what it is. -Time Slice Photo added to the Court Record!- *sees the corpse* EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKK! And that’s all we can find here for now. Now what? To the Tower. Make haste. *runs* I’m getting too old for this. *runs also* *follows*
{Inside the Tower of Archmages- First Floor} *The place is deserted; Nobody’s arrived to investigate yet.* Here again… Nice place, huh? If they’re trying to attract visitors, they should change their slogan to “More doors, more fun!” or something. *pops up from nowhere* Oh, we’ve been considering it! Old Bumbledoor hates it, though! Are you…? Gus Tiwinds! Official Door Maintenance Elf! I’m like a house elf, except I don’t have a house… Good to know. (If we look at the evidence, though…) (He apparently said that he didn’t help out the investigators… Or something. My notes are terrible.) We’re here investigating a crime. Ha! There’s no crimes here except for the constant assault and battery with Bumbledoor’s doors- *a sliding glass door falls on Gus* BUMBLEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR! Right. This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. This is my wallet. It is proof that I am poor. Ha! … (Door maintenance isn’t a high-paying job, I guess…) Yeah, the festival! It’s great! You’ve been already? 160 times! ! Nice taste in phones. I had one just like it. Uh… Thanks. Thanks indeed. … Hey, it’s me! Don’t I look cool? Oh, remarkably. I don’t know what to tell ya. Talk- Investigations Listen. Sup? I understand that the knife that killed Prince Ipal is here. … Haha! What are you talking about, dude? That’s not stored here of all places! … I think we should have a discussion about this. Hey, there’s nothing to discuss! Don’t you want to look around? No. (I should present something…)

What do you have to say to this? Cool stuff, man! Are you gonna show me your hoarding collection all day, or can I get back to work? ! (Let’s try again…) PRESENT: Festival Poster This poster has some interesting advertisements… Yeah? It recommends visiting the Tower of Archmages, which has a large collection of nationally famous objects stored. … Now. Why are you lying to us? Fine, you wanna talk? Let’s talk, then. -TESTIMONY- Maximum Security This tower’s got some stuff stored! Mostly old antiques and works of art. But don’t forget the prince’s death was under great investigation. It closed down the entire space program! They don’t keep somethin’ like that here, they keep it in the capital Zylince City in case the investigation opens again, y’know? ~~~ (I wonder what he’s working so hard to hide this for…) *glances at Xue* C’mon, say something. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- This tower’s got some stuff stored! Mostly old antiques and works of art. HOLD IT! But nothing of great value, like an ancient weapon? Not if it’s a murder weapon. Use some common sense, will ya? But don’t forget the prince’s death was under great investigation. HOLD IT! Weren’t the archmages involved in the investigation, then? Oh, sure. But they didn’t ask to keep the weapon here. They’ve got some big vaults for that in the capital. Isn’t this tower highly guarded, however? Hey, now! Don’t ask me about the crusty old king’s logic. Someone needs to teach the guy how to laugh. It closed down the entire space program! HOLD IT! Why did it do that? The lead suspect was an astronaut tryin’ to escape into space! He would’ve done it if all the launches weren’t cancelled. (I remember this… Though not much information was given at first for some odd reason.) They don’t keep somethin’ like that here, they keep it in the capital Zylince City in case the investigation opens again, y’know? HOLD IT! Zylince City? What, you’ve never visited the capital city? No… You poor kid! This is a card for Portsman’s Excellent Travel Agency. You can set up a call with a professional to get you on a plane before you can say “basketball”. No… no, thanks. OBJECTION! This proves a clear contradiction in the testimony! Testimony? Boy, you’ve gotta get out of court more! Here, how about I set up a nice VACATION for you, smarty? I’d… rather not! (Something’s got to make this idiot crack!) Well, you have to admire the tenacity. I just don’t know what to present to him that will make him listen to me… Is there anything you haven’t really looked at yet? Go over your evidence, maybe. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) … (Well, he’s lying. I knew that much.) They don’t keep somethin’ like that here, they keep it in the capital Zylince City in case the investigation opens again, y’know? PRESENT: Mustachioed Autopsy OBJECTION! ! Gus. Have you taken a look at this file? It has a really nice ‘stache, I’ve gotta give it that! Ah, but the contents are what we’re looking for. (There are multiple pages. Which do I present?)Page 1Version 2.1*

TAKE THAT! This will show you! Show me what, that you don’t know what you’re talkin’ about? Grrgh! Don’t get ahead of yourself, Xue. Look again. PRESENT: Page 2 If you look right here… You’ll find that it says the knife is stored here! WOOOOOOAAAAH! I think that this could’ve been easily avoided. You could’ve showed us the knife, we could’ve left. Instead, you had something to hide. Look, it was… What Bumbledoor told me to do! I’m not supposed to let just any old Joe off the street know about that! Oh, really. You know it! *shakes fist* I can’t let you see the knife, so… *sunglasses* I have to cut your visit short. YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH! Who’s side are you on?! Besides… -TESTIMONY- Inconsistencies I don’t think your report’s correct! It says somethin’ about the prince being hurt again today. But nothing like that’s happened, and I have surveillance of the entire town! I bet you just typed that up yourself! ~~~ Where are the doors when you need them. (Looks like I’m about to open a door. A door of justice!)-CROSS-EXAMINATION- I don’t think your report’s correct! HOLD IT! You don’t think so? Please. It’s about as correct as Sob Baget’s autobiography. Autobiography? Yeah. Somethin‘ ‘bout the Full House Plan? Would‘ve involved talkin‘ with other people to make ‘em feel better? It says somethin’ about the prince being hurt again today. HOLD IT! Don’t believe in magic, Mr. Tiwinds? ‘Course I do! But you’d need more than magic to get the Prince’s corpse and the knife here! (Such as time travel?) But nothing like that’s happened, and I have surveillance of the entire town! HOLD IT! How so? Bumbledoor’s door magic. Can… Can it do anything? Well, when you’re as general as “Door magic”… I bet you just typed that up yourself! HOLD IT! Then where’d I get the amazing mustache, huh? Maybe our very own festival or somethin’. Stall In sells ’em. Stalin- … Nevermind. OBJECTION! What do you say to this, Mr. Piercings? I dunno. What do you say to this, Ms. Big Ears? I don’t know. What do you say to this, Mr. Teacup? Why can’t we all just be quiet? (Okay, that probably wasn‘t correct…) This one’s fairly obvious. I wonder why he’s so eager to hide things, though… ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) (The report is correct, but when it comes to nothing happening yet…) But nothing like that’s happened, and I have surveillance of the entire town! PRESENT: Time Slice Photo OBJECTION! If you believe in magic… Of course. This has already happened today. Time travel was used to bring the prince’s corpse back! WHAAAAT?! Funny that someone with surveillance of the town should miss that, simply. Uh… Not the entire town- Every part of the town except the town square?! When you put it that way… This could’ve been simple. Instead, you’re going to great lengths to hide something. I’m not hiding anything! I’ve never felt better! Watch me! I’ll do some jumping jacks, right now! Why are they called that? Who’s Jack, anyway?! Why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself. *clenches fists* … Fine! Lil’ old me! Whatever you want, gramps! -TESTIMONY- A gust of winds I’m Gus Tiwinds! Door Maintenance Elf! This is my mop, it’s proof that I’m a professional! I’ve been working for decades and decades now! I can’t believe that, y’know, you would think something else! I’m honest and hard working! And I suppose I was wrong about nothing happening yet, fine, sure, case closed. ~~~ He’s shooting off sentences rapid fire. You’ve cornered him. Go on. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- I’m Gus Tiwinds! Door Maintenance Elf! This is my mop, it’s proof that I’m a professional! HOLD IT! You seem awfully nervous… I can’t help it! I’m angry now from being accused by you! I’ve been working for decades and decades now! HOLD IT! And you’re still on door maintenance? Well, I used to be the Pet Door Maintenance Elf… That explains quite a bit. I can’t believe that, y’know, you would think something else! HOLD IT! You were the one who- The one who what?! I’m just following orders, dude! I mean, seriously! I’m honest and hard working! HOLD IT! You are, are you? Okay! I admit it! I was only 82 years old and I put bubblegum under the desk! It’s all my fault! Go tell the teacher or something! Well if you’re being so hones- And then I was at the young age of 138 and I got an F on my magic test but I turned it into an A with a marker! (Does this guy have any useful confessions?) And I suppose I was wrong about nothing happening yet, fine, sure, case closed. HOLD IT! I still find it peculiar you didn’t notice with your amazing surveillance! I’ve got other stuff to do than watch people all day! For example, The MAAAAAAANLY Show was on earlier! It was the dinosaur punching episode! OBJECTION! This will show you! Oh, you scared me there for a second. I thought you had some actual points to make. Argh! (Being told off by this guy…) How am I supposed to…? You might not have the evidence with you. (Comforting.)((Return to beginning of testimony.)) Temporal Leak TEMPORAL LEAK! *Everything slows down* I’m… Gus Tiwinds! …Door Maintenance…. Elf…! …This is… my mop,… it’s proof …that I’m a… professional! I’ve been… working for …decades and …decades now…! …I can’t… believe that, y’know…, you would… think something …else! …I’m honest… and hardworking…! And I …suppose I was… wrong about… nothing happening yet…, fine, sure,… case closed. … (This offers nothing.) I’m… Gus Tiwinds! …Door Maintenance…. Elf…! …This is… my mop,… it’s proof …that I’m a… professional!Night Vision NIGHT VISION! *Everything speeds up suddenly with the sound of thousands of voices talking at once until one scene becomes visible* *Things return to normal* AHA! Huh? What was that magic there? Did you say something? If you really are Gus, then you can answer a question. Sure! What is it? Where did you get the phone from? This? Oh, from Bumbledoor right here! (If there is a clue on the phone…)Turn phone upside down Here we are. There’s something written there? It’s incredibly small text… (In native Skyinarian, too. Geez.) “Manufactured by Caelestis/2R.” Uh… I don’t think Bumbledoor has anything to do with them. Caelestis? Then where did you get this hunk of trash from? Simple. You aren’t who you say you are, are you?! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH- …ha ha ha ha. ! ! !!! Y-you- Ah, if only I had any magic left… Surely you didn’t believe that hasty ruse did you, cats? Stop hiding. Now. *a figure materializes* Well, if you insist. You’re… no… Being an elf is fun, despite the hailstorm of bulky doors that nearly destroyed me! But now, with that all said and done, the curtain is drawn, the stage is set… And it is I, the mystifying and magical Yca! Acy’s… brother? Close! I have no family. The closest were my servants back at Tolemac~ The knights of the square table and all that. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! *punches Yca* ha ha- what *punched* You idiot! You’re the idiot! You’re the one who pretended to be a prince back at idiot land with a square table! You’re the one who did a chicken dance for a screenie page! You’re the one who just has my name backwards! Your name is my name backwards! Children. Stop. Hey! I’ve been at this longer than you’ve been at your career, you know~ You mean Caelestis. … Maybe! Maybe not! *a door opens* ! That’s enough. Oh hey there, gramps! Finish playing solitare? I could’ve turned you in for your Caelestis involvement earlier. It’s come to my attention that the leader is quite exasperated with you, anyway. Uh… I needed to let you give them that phone, however. (The phone he gifted me earlier… The one that proved him wrong, ironically.) You don’t understand! I believe you don’t understand. Now, does anyone have any last questions before I take you away? Where’s Drew, Yca? Heck if I know~ Not-Drew probably scared him off or something. Stupid, stupid, stupid. … er. ? I didn’t actually get the chance to tell you since you were hospitalized, then I… forgot… What. I met Drew in the bank at Neopia Central. what Enough discussion! The mouse did follow the cat, then… And it led to his demise, as predicted! Life is tragic, unbearable, ironic! Wait, would that be ironic? I need a dictionaaaaaarrrrrrrrrryyyyyy*Yca is dragged away* … What a series of unusual revelations… So he was in Neopia, then. Yep. How was he doing? Fine. … Thank you, Xue. For what? Those were my goals. Find where my brother went and see if my owner was still alive at all. I know. There’s something else, though. ? I said that I wanted to stop the crimes going on in Neopia. If this Caelestis is behind it, then I want to help you stop them. I’ll be glad to have your help, then. I’m still kind of shaken up by that… *Yca’s red phone rings* … Uh. You should answer it. *answers* … Hello? Hook your phone up. *hangs up* My phone is more special. Isn’t it the same one from an alternate timeline, now? But it’s… revealed. Let me see. *Acy hooks up the green phone* *rings* You should probably answer that too. Uh. *answers* Hello? Glad you finally got to this point,hm. … Thanks. Now who are you? I believe I told you who I am. My purpose is to guide you. … There’s no need for shame, hm. A child couldn‘t walk without a parent teaching them. Okay, you’re right. Exactly, hm. Listen to me. What do you want? It would be beneficial to pay a visit to where you know where Drew was. Where he was? Good luck to you.*dial tone*

*hangs up* Who was it? It was- … *Turns to Gray* Who was it? It’s nearly unfathomable you can’t tell already. Hm… It’s the person you were… Will be speaking with here in the conversation you told us to get, right? I don’t know what you’re talking about. I didn’t tell you to get any conversation. Wait, you mean- That was actually the Mysterious Contender, of course. There you go. (But why…) -GrimaceMagazine Conversation updated in the Court Record!- Now we have to go where Drew’s already been. I believe they meant on this planet, so… … Doug Gonnit’s farm? Why that farm? I don’t think he gets your odd ability. Well, I had an ability to see aura very well. Aura? By slowing down time and concentrating on a person’s aura, I can see into the past. I had a vision that Drew had been there… And planted this. Unusual. (Shouldn’t mention that… faerie…) Xue’s drug magic can’t be wrong. Let’s go. Wh- Nevermind. *walks out*
{Gonnit Farm} I told you whippersnapper animals! It’s not Christmas doggone Eve! You don’t drop “presents” wherever you want! Uh- *turns around quickly* ! I can’t believe it! Some young whippersnappers are here on my property to rob me! We’re not- Don’t say it! I can see that shiny metal arm of yours! It’s one of those iGuns or whatever the kids are using these days! I can’t believe that the muggers are getting younger and younger these days! Well fine, you can have the money! Take it all! Take the animals too… Please! Just leave the hat, it’s my only memory of the good old days! We’re not here to rob you. Oh, I see how it is. Glad we could- It’s a murder! Run, goats! RUN!*Doug and the goats run off in various directions* … … Perhaps that means we may investigate as we please? Let’s just take it as that. ~Begin Investigation~ Partner Button: Acy Hm? Do you see anything around here we should investigate? Well, we did find the syringe in the hay piles that one time. Other than that, I’m not sure. This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional. Yeah. That’s great. … You seem awfully… chummy. I guess I’m just used to you being stupid now. … (Great, we made friends.) What do you think of this? It’s… very unusual. I don’t know who the caller is or how they keep finding us. Be careful with that. Sorry… So this is the knife that killed the prince? Yes, apparently so. Hm… I have to wonder where it was originally, then. The killer would’ve had to have taken it from the Tower to the royal magic kingdom or whatever. Fake. … Yes? So, come here of- No. I’m glad Gray’s okay. I am too, I guess. Even if he dragged us on this adventure. … I don’t know what to say. ~~~ *The barn is a dark brown, seeming water damaged.* I thought that all barns were red with those big wooden gates. This is the barn of broken dreams. Goat: Hello, little fella- Goat: *kicks Xue* GAH! This wall keeps reminding me that we’re so far underground. It’s surprisingly hard to believe, with all the grass and trees… This is where we found the syringe… Is there anything in here? Doesn’t look like it. Let me see. *searches* … … Nothing. Gray, what do you think? I was just pondering the situation. The conclusion is that the farmer is stupid. I see. Move- Barn Door((Enter barn.))
{Inside the Barn} *The inside of the barn seems to be just as unglamorous as the outside. There are places for the animals to sleep and eat, with only a dim amount of light.*
((Return to previous area.))
Goat: Hello, little fella- Goat: *kicks Xue* GAH! More hay? He’s never running out. Examine- Feed box Food goes here, huh. Don’t get too close. One of them just growled at you. It seems to be empty. … Wait. ? *Xue looks inside* What’s this? … Some type of paper. Odd place for it. Throw it away. You don’t want one of the goats to eat it. Wait, there’s a bit of writing on it. “D. Staccato” … Dulcet! They turned you into a goat! Uh. -Paper Scrap added to the Court Record!- ~~~ Examine- Plank*A plank from the wall is loose.* This thing doesn’t seem to be very well put together. It’s old. What can you do. (What should I do?) I guess I should fix it. Do you have a hammer? No. Oh. You can turn your arm into an arm cannon. Why can’t you use that? … It would scratch? May as well rip the warped plank out completely. I thought you were against damaging others’ property? But this would be helping, sort of? You should get the guy’s permission before you start Blanche’s Barn Makeover. Check plank Actually, it looks like something might be bending it slightly… You mean an item of some kind? Exactly. Let’s see… … ! What’s this doing here? Another one?! … Er. (Let‘s take a look.)-CHAPTER 3- Deterioration The Zylince City Uprising was the largest act of revolt against the Xiao-Yani monarchy. It was the first time the formerly peaceful government had been forced to hurt its citizens in an attempt to stop the anarchy and homicide spread through the incident. Notably, this took place on the 9999th day of the 1st revival, an extremely popular day for the nation’s religion. The god of good and light, Xiao, was supposed to return and save life on the planet. Xiao’s counterpart, Yani, was slated to return after society had been recreated to spread suffering and alter the flow of time. A godlike figure was seen in the crowd of rebels, but it’s been passed off as a hoax on account of seeing multiple people supposedly in costume or something. The same happened for the other side. Once the revolution had stopped, the first day of the second revival began.~~ … This brings back some unusual memories. -EXAMINATION- The Zylince City Uprising was the largest act of revolt against the Xiao-Yani monarchy.*There’s a few more notes scribbled off to the side.* “Don’t know cause of said uprising yet.” It… was a large act of violence, then. It was the first time the formerly peaceful government had been forced to hurt its citizens in an attempt to stop the anarchy and homicide spread through the incident.*There’s only a newspaper clipping nearby* “56 shot and killed by police”. … It doesn’t account for the violence of the protestors, though. Notably, this took place on the 9999th day of the 1st revival, an extremely popular day for the nation’s religion.*Something is written in the margin* “Bilateralitarianism” is the religion… I knew that already. You could’ve said something. My mistake. The god of good and light, Xiao, was supposed to return and save life on the planet. There’s a picture here. A picture? More like a drawing, actually… Xiao’s counterpart, Yani, was slated to return after society had been recreated to spread suffering and alter the flow of time. There’s a picture here. A picture? More like a drawing, actually… A godlike figure was seen in the crowd of rebels, but it’s been passed off as a hoax on account of seeing multiple protestors supposedly in costume or something.*A smaller clipping from a page of a book is there* Hm… What’s that? It’s a page about Xiao and Yani and the belief of the duo creating the stars and space. The same happened for the other side. Once the revolution had stopped, the first day of the second revival began. It’s kind of startling how quickly things were taken down… How quickly? It took a few weeks, which… put off the start of the new revival, interestingly. I remember this incident pretty well, but didn’t know the full ramifications. Hmm. You were young then, right? Our years and sense of age differs. Whatever you say. ((Return to Page 1.)) This should be connected! … I’m not following your logic, though. Oh. (I have a feeling there’s something amiss here…) Xiao’s counterpart, Yani, was slated to return after society had been recreated to spread suffering and alter the flow of time.COMPARE: GrimaceMagazine Conversation OR Time Slice Photo AHA! What? I think we can agree that there’s been some weird time crap going on already. But how was it caused? *walks in* … I didn’t have the ability myself, it was another. If you’re asking where the powers came from, I’m not sure. It seems like this might provide some type of reasoning. -Drew’s Notebook #3 added to the Court Record!- … If the first revival lasted 9999 days or more and the second has lasted over 300, then wouldn’t that not add up to several thousand years? The Pre-Revival lasted 730000 days. Oh. We should leave before he gets back. Why did he have this in his barn, then? It may be a good question, but this is not the place to discuss it. Where do we investigate next? … You should be a bit more independently minded. Use your integrity and present to me one piece of evidence that shows where we should be. That’s not it. Try again. PRESENT: Business Card To meet with the Mysterious Contender in the afternoon? Precisely. Hm… ~Investigation Complete!~ So we get to meet the freak? ”What are those doggone voices?!” Once we get out of here. *runs, the others following*
{House} *In a different house near the town square, light pours into the living room from a single large window. Everything including the wooden floor seems to be white or blue and clean.* Here we are. Who’s house is this and how did you get in, exactly? I think you’ll see in a second. ? ? ?: Huh, who’s there? That you, Gray? !!! What?! (That voice…) *walks in* Ah, it is you, Gray. And- Xue! Xue, it’s you! *glomps* Axini! *glomped* Gray over there said you’d come back and you did! How are you? Where have you been? What’s with that get-up? One at a time. Axini already knew about the crash. I didn’t know if you would be okay. I ended up on a friendly planet, yeah. What planet was this? It was called NTWF. Oh, cool! It looks like you’ve changed a lot while you were gone, though. Well, I’m a defense attorney- … And I’m actually here because we were working on figuring out the case with Dulcet and Prince Ipal. *nods* It’s complicated, but you’re doing well so far. … How do you know that, exactly? Sorry. I’ve got to be the one taking the blame here. This is a complicated matter that required creation of an alternate timeline. I sort of knew how you had done before the guilty verdict. You’re the time traveler that did this, then? How do you do. Sorry if this is a lot to reveal right now! I’ve been only watching here. Gray wanted to bring you back to defend and Phoenix here knew that things would be impossible from the start. What about the Mysterious Contender? … Like I said, it’s a bit confusing you haven’t figured it out already. Xue. There are some things you can’t see… Spirits in their given invisibility, for example. If that made it so you couldn’t find the caller’s name… It’s Kaitlyn Teagate. Teagate?! It’s true… As a spirit, then… My only question is “Why?”. Why did she do this? What about you? My motivation began the same as Evilworth’s. The unfading threat of an old enemy’s return… … I don’t believe you. Is that so? What are you saying? You had a different reason that you’re not saying. Don’t get ahead of yourself. -TESTIMONY- Injections The syringe at first seemed like a potential, oddly typical, weapon that could’ve been used in the Prince’s unfortunate teleportation. When further investigation unsurprisingly followed, this did not seem to be the case. The syringe, in one of the universe‘s many twists, claimed ownership to the victim himself. It was a formula that had been taken along with his body. It remains the only thing taken from him. ~~~ -CROSS-EXAMINATION- The syringe at first seemed like a potential, oddly typical, weapon that could’ve been used in the Prince’s unfortunate teleportation. HOLD IT! The prince was, in fact, cut! … Hence my statement: When further investigation unsurprisingly followed, this did not seem to be the case. HOLD IT! You came here still thinking that, though? My goals used to lie in protecting one girl, but it seems to now reside in protecting one myriad of timelines. My footsteps can always be found trailing the footsteps of the threat. The syringe, in one of the universe‘s many twists, claimed ownership to the victim himself. It was a formula that had been taken along with his body. HOLD IT! A formula? The Prince had a degree in studying medicine and science in hopes of being able to help his people. Adoration was common for the Wyn. What was the formula? It contained a chemical that would have untested effects, but seemed to lie in magic. It likely had a high value. Did he have it with him when he died…? It was unfinished and was requested to be kept in his burial tomb. It remains the only thing taken from him. HOLD IT! What happened to it since? Used or sold in some way. The syringe was disposed of, like how one doesn’t keep a plastic bottle after they’ve drank the liquid inside. OBJECTION! This evidence provides a hole in your testimony! Your floundering brings old memories to the surface… I was quite the novice. Gah! (Not the reaction I was hoping for!) … Xue, are you alright, there? I’m fine. There’s something not quite right, though… I intend to find it out. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) … … Your abilities won’t work on me. It remains the only thing taken from him. PRESENT: Victim’s Crown OBJECTION! There’s a flaw in your logic, Mr. Wright. Do tell. You may claim the syringe was the only thing taken… But a jewel from the crown was stolen also! ! He’s quite right about that… There’s something else, however. Please continue. I don’t know who took the jewel or crown… But it wasn’t some thief. I think it was Drew.

… The Writer? In one of my visions. He took the syringe, might’ve done something with it, and then disposed of it. Calm down. ! A bit blunt for you, Phoenix. There’s a difference between ‘chaotic stupid’ and ‘graverobbing’. Was that- You’re forgetting. About the much eviler… Not-Drew, was it? But he was convicted in that case! … ? Have you heard of an alternate timeline? … No? Let’s say that the series of events happening in the universe now is a “timeline”. Logically, any timeline mirroring it with the exception of a changed detail, whether small or a giant elephant, is an alternate timeline. I see. You can’t fix every alternate timeline. You can find them where America lost the revolutionary war or where the world actually ended in 2012. But what you can do is stop the alternate timeline characters from showing up here. You mean… Another Not-Drew showed up here? That’s… What you did was pull a leaf from a tree. Another leaf will replace it. Hm… -Horrifying Syringe updated in the Court Record!- *the phone rings* … Um. It’s probably Ms. Teagate. *answers* Hello? Plug your phone in. *dial tone* *hangs up* … My phone is more special. … *Acy replaces the black phone with the green phone* *rings* *picks up* Hello? You’ve been doing well, hm. I‘m so proud of you! Oh, um… Thanks! I trust you found the notebook by now? I found it, yes. … In the barn, for some reason. I had the sneaking suspicion. What’s she saying? *motions for Axini to be quiet* What does it have to say? It’s… dealing with the Zylince City Uprising. Ah, yes. … You’re… Ms. Teagate, aren’t you? … … Ahahaha. I guess it wouldn’t be long before you were informed in some way. Ms. Teagate… Have you ever heard of getting phone calls from beyond the grave, Xue? … Sort of? Consider this being sort of like that. *Ms. Teagate laughs* … Where are you? Right here. !! !! … Welcome back, Instructor Teagate. *a figure fades in* … … Thank you, Blanche. Blanche… *smiles* Xue. You became a remarkable lawyer, even if not your original intention. N-not at all. You’re back… You’re really back. After… all of that case… …Yes, she is. Your efforts did not go unnoticed, hm. One murderer, now locked up without chance of escape, every door locked to him. … But they say a spirit cannot rest in peace if they have unfinished business left on the planet. Stopping Caelestis has been my goal and rest is impossible until this unfading force has ceased to exist. I never figured out why you had something like that Writer’s notebook. Because that Writer is a vital part of this. By that Writer, you mean… Drew Skye? … The NTWF, the planet I crash landed on. Beings called “Writers” are technically in power, with the ability to foresee and control future events, while being nearly all-powerful. … So he’s an omnipotent moron now. Moron or not, he wrote out 4 of these notebooks about the impending threat against the multiverse. The shining, undeniable appeal was overpowering to his counterpart. But Caelestis was too focused on getting rid of them. Bingo. I want you to realize There’s a lot we don’t know and can’t do. But you apparently had this case figured out. That’s where you’re wrong. ! I can’t figure out how the body was removed from it’s main timeline or who moved it. (Dulcet’s involvement is a bit of a mystery, also…) … … Ms. Teagate. There’s something I want to know. What would that be, hm? The 7, 5, and 11 hidden in Gray’s house. Put this one together for me, Xue. The number 7, a single integer. The number 5, in the same situation as 7. 11. (Why is this significant?) There’s a pattern between the numbers…? No. Think harder. They’re all prime numbers! Very good observation, but still no. You can’t find 11 on a regular phone The number 11 isn’t found on a regular phone. Indeed. How did you input it to change the phone, Xue? … There’s an 11 on this phone. Now why would there be such an odd number on there? Hm… (11... 5... 7... How are the numbers related?) Does it have to deal with a specific time? In a word? No. It’s a day … 7/5/11, as the dates are written on Earth? You should know what stands out about that day. … A familiar voice: Xue, it’ll… It’ll be okay.Xue: The pace… My arm is… injured. I didn’t ever say, because…
… You mean my accelerated transformation, because of the exposure to… something in space? … Something that odd only happens very infrequently. (A transformation… A strangely rapid change for most Vynawyn. It marks the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood.) Yes, that’s what was chosen the code for the phone. Oh, no… … My arm was scarred badly in the crash, but I didn’t mention it. I was almost too afraid to at the time. I suppose that’s why I was given the… robotic version, and the cannon. Stop moping, Xue. ! The sands of time are slipping through our fingertips as we speak. Every moment not spent weakening the leader of this organization is only strengthening him. What you need to do is uncover the truth behind this case and present it in court. I lost the first time. That was the first time. You were unprepared. You have to get up and do your job, Xue. Once the real murderer is exposed, or if one of the Not-Drews is caught, the leader will know you’re here. He’ll panic? He’ll attack. … Which is why this is such a delicate thing. I can’t wait. I think that first, talking to Dulcet is in order… He’s not your client yet, is he? … Oh. It might be useful to go see him. I’ll just take this back… -Green Phone returned.- We’re going to stay here. And watch? There’s more that can be done and not more that we can help you with. On that note…
{Detention Center} Hopefully Dulcet’s out of questioning at this point. You got that right dawg, for it’s no longer my young compatriot lost in a fog, but the former master locked in a legal smog from the lying bog. what … Hello, Dulcet. Glad it’s you, Xue, for through this trial what won’t be told is what’s true. You’ve changed a lot, is that some ugly pet you’ve got? What?! … (There goes Dulcet.) This is my badge. It is proof that I am a professional- You presentin’ that all the time is almost regressional. … (I hate starting these rhymes that insult me…) That crown’s gonna make me frown with it’s missin’ gem from which these problems stem. You wouldn’t have a motive for taking the gem, then. Just fine. I don’t know, yo. Talk- Dulcet So this is Dulcet Staccato- Yo, and this is my motto! Criminal locked up or free, if you think you can run from me, the wrath of the law applied to thee will unleash a decree of your guilty spree! I’m the best defense attorney around, so if you can hear the gift of sound, all my cases contain the entire truth found. It’s like… If Dr. Seuss just started doing every drug known to man simultaneously. Talk- Defenses I’m a defense attorney now. I could defend you in the trial. There y’all go, lil’ bro. I think we know the prosecutor already… Evilwart’s going to be so disappointed when he hears about the syringe thing. … Or relieved. ? ? ?: ”Mr. Staccato, we have to take you into questioning again. And… don’t rhyme all the answers this time, okay?!” Gotta split, Xue, don’t lose your sharp wit. *goes into questioning* … Do you think you’re prepared enough for the trial tomorrow? It’s not a case if I’m prepared anymore. It’s if we’re prepared. That’s very true. There can’t be a repeat of last time at this point. Just… You stay positive, okay? You can do it. … … … No, really, you being positive is creeping me out. I just don’t have to worry about my brother anymore. But if it will make you feel better, I hate you. There we go. (I don’t know what else can be done at this point.) (Maybe just seeing to that we’re all ready…)
{Courtroom Lobby} This is it… … Are you prepared, Blanche? *crosses arms* ! Didn’t see you there. Hmph. I have to ask… On your relation to this criminal Dr. Lylin you wanted to catch. He’s… A mad scientist. The one who brought me into existence. … “ Evilworth”? “Xue” Blanche. Children. Stop. ”All enter the courtroom! The trial is about to begin!” I’ll see you in court. *enters* … Which is presumably in a few seconds. Presumably, yes. *Xue and Acy enter the courtroom*

{Courtroom} *slams gavel* Court is now in session for the trial of Dulcet Staccato. Are the defense and prosecution ready? The defense is ready. *tugs at sleeve* The prosecution is ready. *nods* Your opening statements. … The prosecution intends to prove tha- ”Never fear, citizens! I will prove the villainous villain guilty!” *kicks down door, striding over to prosecutor’s bench* Louis?! … Louis. That’s my name, don’t wear it out. The co-council for the prosecution has arrived! Very good. (The surprise is sort of lost this time around.) I- What- didn’t- Your opening statement now, please! The defendant is a villainous villain who villainously committed a villainous act of vile villainy by villainously villainizing the unvillainous memory of the prince! *looks at Xue* Dulcet Staccato has been wrongfully blamed based on assumptions by the monarchial police force. The defense will prove that he did not commit the crime, but also that… That the evidence being used against him is being perceived incorrectly. (But how can I follow an act like Louis’.) Hmm… Please call the first witness, prosecution. I call- Shut up. The prosecution calls Sob Baget to the stand. *takes the stand* Yo, everybody. *waves* Name and occupation. Sob Baget. Captain Sob Baget. Tell us about the villainous things you discovered! Chill the heck down, I’m on it. -TESTIMONY- Investigations Complete We found the murder weapon from the original case and stuff. The Ornate Knife was used by Staccato to desecrate the ol’ prince’s back. His fingerprints all over it like ants on a dropped french fry. We figure that he used a teleportation magic to get the body, then he dumped it in the square with a bit of resistance. ~~~ He’s telling a different story this time… Yca wasn’t there to meet him and lead him wrong this time around, remember? Quit whispering over there at the defense’s bench! … The prosecution has no questions for the witness, your honor. Then begin your cross-examination, Mr. Blanche. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- We found the murder weapon from the original case and stuff. HOLD IT! What’s the murder weapon? This knife. Killed the prince before he could see what was coming. Where was it found? Hidden carelessly near the Tower of Archmages. After acquiring it and using it, it had to be trashed someplace. The Ornate Knife was used by Staccato to desecrate the ol’ prince’s back. HOLD IT! Why would someone want to try and hurt a dead person? Dunno. The same reason people wanna write graffiti on walls. Makes ‘em feel like they’re actually accomplishing something. His fingerprints all over it like ants on a dropped french fry. HOLD IT! But the fingerprints weren’t there originally? Nope. Nobody knows who did it originally. Hm… (I think that the Prince’s murder from so long ago has a lot of connection…) We figure that he used a teleportation magic to get the body, then he dumped it in the square with a bit of resistance. HOLD IT! The defendant is a defense attorney! See, the terrorists, they’re the ones that you’re not expectin’. The scrawny wyn on the bus. The kid down the street. Your grandmother. How was there resistance when the defendant supposedly dumped the body? The defendant had bruises and scars like he had been in a fight. OBJECTION! This will prove the contradiction! … Prove what, that it ain’t there? The villainously villainous defense is making up lies, your honors! I think a penalty is in order. Argh! (That wasn’t right…) He’s still incorrect, like he was before. Even though Gus wasn’t there to show him the murder weapon, he still found it. Makes you wonder about his involvement. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) … (Though I can see figures, I don’t know if I have the evidence to support things yet.) We figure that he used a teleportation magic to get the body, then he dumped it in the square with a bit of resistance. PRESENT: Crime Scene Notes OBJECTION! I was investigating the sudden appearance of the corpse too, I’ll have you know. Is that so? At least long enough to figure out… No struggle had happened, the body just appeared and was discovered by the mayor’s daughter! You’re full of crap. You could write anything down, but that doesn’t make it true. I have evidence, though. (What proves that there was no struggle?) TAKE THAT! This proves- Nothin’, like I thought. ! Wait a second! I’m afraid I’ll have to penalize you for your outburst, Mr. Blanche. !! (Think this though carefully…) PRESENT: Time Slice Photo TAKE THAT! You believe in magic based on the Tower of Archmages, don’t you? Of course. I just suggested it was used. Magic was used. The body was brought here by time travel, meaning there was no need for the guilty party to go with it! You can’t be suggesting that the 5 minutes you spent doodling that image will explain this entire case! Yeah! The body still is in perfect condition as if the Prince were just asleep, even after about 150 days. A body starts rotting in about three. *the audience shouts* Order! *slams gavel* In that case, time travel was used instead. The defendant is not capable of such abilities! OBJECTION! What if he is capable of such abilities? Time travel is a mystifying field, even to advanced archmages! A rookie lawyer like you would have less of a chance of knowing than anyone else! Yeah! You prove all your lying villainous villain evidence! Shut up, Louis. … I do have proof! Please present this to the court. Present any evidence TAKE THAT! This proves everything! Are you trying to make me laugh? Thank you, that’s just what I’ve been needing. How does this prove your point, Mr. Blanche? Um… It doesn’t… *slams gavel, issuing penalty* Please only present evidence to us if you actually have something to present. I can’t prove it … The defense doesn’t have that evidence at this time. Case in point. There’s still the main thing with or without the time travelin’, though. -TESTIMONY- Obvious Clues The defendant’s fingerprints were all over the murder weapon. You can’t deny that he was the one who scarred the corpse! Then he disposed of the knife and tried to disappear. ~~~ … Someone’s looking a bit surprised. Mr. Evilworth. -DIRECT EXAMINATION- The defendant’s fingerprints were all over the murder weapon. Press HOLD IT! And could you provide the murder weapon for the court? Right here, chief. The court will accept this into evidence. -Ornate Knife updated in the Court Record!- ~~~ You can’t deny that he was the one who scarred the corpse! HOLD IT! Was fresher blood found on the knife? Yeah, right over the old blood. It’s kinda gross, y’know. Is there any blue blood? … … … … … Forget it. Then he disposed of the knife and tried to disappear. HOLD IT! Where was the knife found? The grass right near the Tower of Archmages. Probably where he got the knife somehow in the first freakin’ place. Is the knife pretty? … Why don‘t you tell me? Wow! (Finding more details is all I can do at this time.)((Return to beginning of testimony.)) (After pressing statement 1) … No further questions. *nods* Mr. Blanche. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- The defendant’s fingerprints were all over the murder weapon. HOLD IT! Dulcet Staccato’s? That’s probably who I meant by ‘defendant’. Right. You can’t deny that he was the one who scarred the corpse! HOLD IT! What would be his motive for supposedly scarring it? Do the crazies need motives? Back in my day, they were just crazy. They ran up in a pink jumpsuit, screamed about bluefruit, then bombed a train. They said “he was a crazy wyn” and that was good enough for us. So it’s being perceived as an act of terrorism. But there would be no reason to dump the body in a town around here rather than, say, Zylince City… right? Then he disposed of the knife and tried to disappear. HOLD IT! Where was the defendant arrested? Milling about doin’ something or another maybe 20 feet away from the freakin’ tower. How villainously suspicious! OBJECTION! This proves the witness is lying! I don’t see how- -it proves anything at all. The judges concur. Which calls for a double villain penalty, right? I think a regular one shall suffice! *slams gavel* Gah! His fingerprints were on the knife. Hm… But did he really do it? … ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) Temporal Leak TEMPORAL LEAK! *everything slows down* The …defendant’s fingerprints… were all …over the… murder weapon. …You can’t… deny that he… was the… one who scarred… the corpse…! Then… he disposed of… the knife… and tried… to disappear. (This appears to offer nothing new.) …You can’t… deny that he… was the… one who scarred… the corpse…!Night Vision NIGHT VISION! *Everything speeds up suddenly with the sound of thousands of voices talking at once until one scene becomes visible* *everything returns to normal, a second having passed* AHA! Huh? I think we can deny that he scarred the corpse. To start, Do you have any witnesses of him doing so?! ! Secondly… It may be important to look at when the wound was created. If it was created before the body was teleported through time, and the defendant has no time travel abilities… He’s in no way involved with this case! WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?! You’re not in the clear yet. There’s the fingerprints that are still on the weapon somehow. *deskslam* I believe we have no more questions for this witness. If we can produce a witness who saw the incident… Your honor. (I don’t know if this will amount to anything, but I’ve got to try!) Yes? I want to ask about this piece of evidence. (This one I haven’t been able to figure out since finding it…!) Hm? This evidence? I don’t know if that will help us out, Xue. I must be thinking wrong… PRESENT: Paper Scrap This piece of evidence was found in an unusual location. If we had it analyzed for fingerprints, the defense believes it could reveal some important information. How important, Mr. Blanche? We are in the middle of a proper trial. It… *looks over uncertainly* *deskslam* This piece of evidence will prove the defendant’s innocence, without a doubt! *the audience gets worked up* ORDER! *slams gavel, embers trailing out* I will give you this one chance, Mr. Blanche. Bailiff. *silence* … Bailiff? Oh, right! I almost forgot! Oh, great. I’m here because I’m the substitute bailiff now. Just filled out the forms! The regular guy was sick with some villainous disease! Then why were you being the co-council?! Hey, I’m a talented hero! Now, if you’ll excuse me… *Louis grabs the Paper Scrap and runs out* Results from that may take a bit of time. I believe a recess in the trial is appropriate here. … I concur. If there are no objections… *crosses arms* *still fuming* There appear to be none. This court is now in a thirty-minute recess! *slams gavel*
{Courtroom Lobby} You’re doing decently so far. Oh, thanks. *mumbles* There’s definitely something going on with Baget, though. I think he’s either too easily duped or there’s something he’s hiding. Given his status, it’s the latter. Yo dawg, I heard your reality blog and I have to say after this, we’re gonna be needin’ a nice thing o’ grog! Hello, Dulcet. I have a question to ask while you’re here. My joy is sheer, shoot your question to my ear. Do you have any magical abilities? Not unless you count my whimsical raps, playful as bubble wraps but powerful as an angry woman’s slaps! Yeah. Speaking of that. *slaps Dulcet* Ow, how now brown cow! … Well, we learned something from this? -Dulcet’s Admission added to the Court Record!- Now we have to just wait for the great hero’s glorious return. But while we wait… ! Hey, it’s captain sunshine. *walks in* Blanche. Evilworth. I’m here to destroy you. (He wastes no time in the formalities.) What do you mean? You remember our conversation from earlier, right? How could we forget? I demand to hear what you’ve found out about it. … Well, it originally belonged to the prince- Stop lying to me. I know the truth already. You’re going to argue with me here? Can’t you save it for court? There would be less relevancy there when we’re discussing Lylin’s Syringe. -TESTIMONY- Lylin’s Syringe I’ve found evidence that Lylin was involved with this somehow. The syringe was hidden near the Gonnit Farm. Before the farm was established, this was the site of a brutal murder. A fatal injection of poison did the poor villager in. If we’re discussing objects floating through time, and how Lylin wasn’t afraid to go to other universes to catch his prey, it seems likely he was involved with the murder. The victim was an elf we were supposed to meet during our investigation. His name was Gus Tiwinds. ~~~ W- What?! Saying it belonged to the victim of this case is foolish. *snaps* This doesn’t add up at all. If we can work this out somehow… -CROSS-EXAMINATION- I’ve found evidence that Lylin was involved with this somehow. HOLD IT! Lylin? Doctor Lylin. A mad scientist from the planet you crashed on. NWTF or something? Planets, universes… Nothing would stop him from getting to a target. The syringe was hidden near the Gonnit Farm. HOLD IT! You mean in the hay, right? Exactly. Before the farm was established, this was the site of a brutal murder. A fatal injection of poison did the poor villager in. HOLD IT! Did they ever find out the killer’s identity, though? They arrested and executed some man. I believe he was actually not guilty. False arrests like that are a bigger crime than for what one originally had to do the time. … I agree. If we’re discussing objects floating through time, and how Lylin wasn’t afraid to go to other universes to catch his prey, it seems likely he was involved with the murder. HOLD IT! Why? I don’t know his motives, myself. The victim was an elf we were supposed to meet during our investigation. His name was Gus Tiwinds. HOLD IT! An elf you would’ve met, Gus Tiwinds? He was working at the Tower of Archmages before the incident. What else we know about the victim… Male. Something over a century old, our time. Multiple piercings, rode what we’d call a “space motorcycle”. *tugs Xue’s sleeve* ? We caught him, and that’s why he didn’t exist. But how was he already dead…? Hm… OBJECTION! What do you think of this evidence? Blanche. You’re supposed to save your stupid mistakes for when we’re in court. Argh! (That didn’t seem right… But if I don’t get this right, the idea of the syringe being the prince’s will be wrong!) I wonder how important this Lylin figure is, since he had to approach us now? I don’t think I’ll ever fully know. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) … (Things seem too unclear for me to make any of the shadows feasible.) The victim was an elf we were supposed to meet during our investigation. His name was Gus Tiwinds. PRESENT: Green Rotary Phone OBJECTION! ?! You can claim the elf died years ago and you therefore never met him if you want. Myself… I met him at the Tower, and he was alive enough to give me this! That old phone?! Indeed. I can vouch for it. You don’t get it. The elf we met was not actually any Gus Tiwinds. … Please explain, then! We elf we met was actually Yca Skye! … So if he had the ability to take the form of anyone.. He could’ve simply become Gus Tiwinds. Couldn’t he have become Gus Tiwinds after he died, however? You have to analyze why he became Gus. As part of Caelestis, we know their goals involved stealing the syringe! … … I knew you were right, Bl- no, Xue. … *looks to the side* This case is what brought me here in the first place, to this odd world. If a threat of the mad scientist appeared again, I would destroy it. It’s been a big misunderstanding, however. At least he’s not actually involved. I thought he was. … *the sounds of footsteps echo though the halls, then excited shouting* Has Louis returned? ”All re-enter the courtroom! The trial shall now resume!” … I suppose that’s a yes. This hasn’t been settled yet. If I can’t destroy you here, I guess I’ll destroy you in court. *walks into courtroom* *follows unsurely*

{Courtroom} Court will now reconvene. It seems our… substitute bailiff has produced some results. Of course! Please present your findings to the court. Well, we analyzed the paper and saw it wasn’t an ordinary paper, but it was weird and plasticy and full of villainous fingerprints! Fingerprints that belong to the defendant! … Hm. -Paper Scrap updated in the Court Record!- The prosecution requests to call a new witness… ! Are we ready to lose Baget yet, though? … There’s nothing more to ask him, anyway. The new piece of evidence has to prove him wrong in some way, Xue! Raise an objection Witness! Whatdya want? Before you are dismissed… Tell us about your entire investigation on this case! Is this important, Mr. Blanche? I haven’t gone back on my statement, your honor. In that case, this witness is not finished giving testimony. *clenches fists* Witness, begin your testimony! -TESTIMONY- Needle in a Haystack The ol’ king sent the freaking army in to search for a cause of the prince’s sudden shift in location. So we wouldn’t be getting’ outta there ‘til we searched everywhere. We searched the entire town and found the weapon and suspect. The suspect tried to resist arrest for a minute and was covered in obvious bruises and scars. Before arrestin’ him, we checked and found out he dropped the knife off just minutes earlier. -DIRECT EXAMINATION- The ol’ king sent the freaking army in to search for a cause of the prince’s sudden shift in location. HOLD IT! And you are the captain, correct? You got it. Do you have a ship? Not yet. So we wouldn’t be getting’ outta there ‘til we searched everywhere. HOLD IT! You searched every part of the town? Every nook and cranny, as they say! Well… We searched the entire town and found the weapon and suspect. Press HOLD IT! How did you deem Mr. Staccato to be a suspect? We weren’t sayin’ “oh look, it’s the killer”. We saw a suspicious guy tryin’ to hastily walk away with a weapon 20 feet away from him. Did you have any other suspects? A few. The little kid seemed a lot less likely. And also… ~~~ The suspect tried to resist arrest for a minute and was covered in obvious bruises and scars. Press HOLD IT! So he had to have been in a fight in some way? Yeah. Those kids over there are sayin’ like he just dropped the body and ran. … ~~~ Before arrestin’ him, we checked and found out he dropped the knife off just minutes earlier. HOLD IT! You found out by fingerprints? Footprints that looked like his shoes were found goin’ up to the weapon, also. Couldn’t get more obvious. HOLD IT! Huh? What color were his shoes? … Louis. Look at all those suspicious statements! You should press them like elevator buttons! … Elevator buttons? Don’t you push all the buttons in an elevator so they light up? Elevat- Forget it. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) (After pressing required statements) … No further questions for this witness. Mr. Blanche. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- The ol’ king sent the freaking army in to search for a cause of the prince’s sudden shift in location. HOLD IT! How effective was this? Well, we got crap done a lot quicker. And that‘s all that matters. So we wouldn’t be getting’ outta there ‘til we searched everywhere. Press HOLD IT! Did you search every single part of the town? Yep. What about… the farm? Oh yeah, people try and hide crap in barns all the time. … Literally. … I’d ask you to add that to your testimony, but- Gotcha. ~~~ We searched the entire town and found the weapon and suspect. HOLD IT! It took you that long to find Dulcet Staccato? I dunno where he came from. Hm… That proves the villainous villain could teleport! The suspect tried to resist arrest for a minute and was covered in obvious bruises and scars. HOLD IT! How bad were they? Not too much. Like he’d been in a scuffle or somethin’. They cleaned him up a bit so he wouldn’t bleed all over the jail. Before arrestin’ him, we checked and found out he dropped the knife off just minutes earlier. HOLD IT! And that’s when you thought he was guilty for sure? Nobody else was that suspicious. Well, it did look pretty bad for him… *turns to Xue* But if they weren‘t allowed to leave until they found something, they might‘ve been hasty in the arrest. OBJECTION! What do you think of this evidence, witness? Cute. You done playing around yet, or what? Playing around is not tolerated in this courtroom! Yeah! No having fun! Gah! (Something from a guy who hijacked the trial!) I feel like he’s got a secret buried in his testimony, here… You’ll have to uncover it in some way, then. But how… ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) - Hey! Don’t you try to pull your weird magic eye thing on me! (After pressing statement 2) We didn’t find anything at the freakin’ farm. HOLD IT! You investigated the entire area? You know it. Owner was a real pain. We know that much. We didn’t find anything at the freakin’ farm. PRESENT: Paper Scrap OBJECTION! Witness. *deskslam* Whatcha got? This paper scrap, with all of Dulcet’s fingerprints on it… It was found inside the barn! So what? It’s a little scrap of paper. It’s got a name and some fingerprints. Maybe the suspect went there on a freakin’ school field trip. It’s irrelevant. But that wasn’t the only thing found there. It wasn’t? This was also found at the barn! TAKE THAT! We found this there! … That seems a bit unlikely. Please stop making up stories, Mr. Blanche! *slams gavel* Argh! Hold on for a second! PRESENT: Writer’s Notebook #3 TAKE THAT! A… scrapbook of some kind? Not just a scrapbook. This was found hidden away at Gonnit Farm, in the barn! Yeah? That’s trash too! Even if it is… Your search couldn’t have been that thorough if you missed something as poorly hidden as this or the paper! WHAAAAT?! There’s something else to this notebook, too. There’s been more than one of it’s kind. … What’s interesting is that they had to do with the group Caelestis. Caelestis?! Perhaps the farmer that hid this is a bit more suspicious than we thought. So the witness here missed a discarded scrap of paper and a hidden, useless notebook! He could have overlooked them as irrelevant! OBJECTION! He would’ve had to have checked everything! If he was willing to check the knife to see if it had a passerby’s fingerprints, there’s no reason he couldn’t have checked a piece of paper with that passerby’s name on it! Nnngggh! I think doubt can be cast on how sure you were when you arrested the defendant. … *shakes head* Thank you, witness. … *smirks* Yes, thank you. Thank me? Why the thanking? It’s Thanksgiving! The prosecution now calls Doug Gonnit to the stand! Evilworth’s calling him, now? … *Baget leaves* *Doug Gonnit, from the audience, takes the stand* Name and occupation! Doug Gonnit! The greatest farmer in all of Dow Town! I bet you didn’t know that I’m a great war hero, also! A fellow hero? High five! How dare you interrupt me when I’m speaking, whippersnapper! Back in my day, the kids weren’t such little monsters! They didn’t just speak when they were spoken to, they had to get permission to make a sentence! And if they asked permission, they got a good wallop! … Please, we require your testimony on the- What did I just say?! I’ll give testimony when I’m good and ready! And I’m good and ready now! -TESTIMONY- Snapping a Whipper I don’t know what you crazy whippersnappers are going on about! I didn’t do a single thing! You crazy kids can say “Oh sure, he probably did it”. Probably isn’t good enough! Forget about the barn thing for a moment! I have just plumb no idea how any of that nonsense happened! Nothing else points at me besides the trash in there! ~~~ Witness, I wanted you to- I’m not here for whatever you want! It was so much simpler back in my day! If one of you kids wanted something, you waited until Christmas! And you hoped Ganta Claus would do something! I’ll testify about what I think is right, since you whippersnappers are feeling peachy keen about pointing the finger of blame at a poor old farmer hero! -DIRECT EXAMINATION- I- You whippersnapper! Don’t- You be quiet right now, sonny! You crazy kids think you can get away with anything! One of the young people throws a fruit at someone else and they get away, scot-free! I don’t know who scott is, but he shouldn’t allow such obvious violations of the law! That’s fruit! This is a trial! That’s it! Go to your room! (After listening to the whole testimony again) … I take it there are no questions. Oh boy, I can’t wait. That’s the attitude I’m looking for! Serious and powerful! What?! Sarcasm doesn’t seem to be one of his languages. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- I don’t know what you crazy whippersnappers are going on about! HOLD IT! The prince- I don’t care if you’re having a trial about your fan fiction! Interesting statement, since you were apparently watching it. Why, you…! I didn’t do a single thing! HOLD IT! What about the things in your barn? Whippersnapper! I have no idea how they got there! I’m innocent! You crazy kids can say “Oh sure, he probably did it”. Probably isn’t good enough! HOLD IT! But if there’s a high chance- If there’s a high chance, why don’t you present evidence to me that I am the murderer?! … (He knows just what I don’t have.) Forget about the barn thing for a moment! I have just plumb no idea how any of that nonsense happened! HOLD IT! Aren’t you at your farm all day? I make trips out to the store and other things like that. The young hooligans must’ve slipped in when I wasn’t there to see! Villainous villains have such villainous tendencies. (I forgot about Louis being there.) Nothing else points at me besides the trash in there! HOLD IT! You really think that you’re innocent here? Of course I do! Probably because I didn’t do anything! Ask all the questions you want to ask to the witness. Being a jerk to him is just childish. Yeah! OBJECTION! What do you say to this, Gonnit?! You young whippersnapper! You’re a prime example of everything wrong with the legal system! Argh! (That didn‘t even make sense!) Gonnit is a very… angry wyn. Likely because he’s trying to hide something, but badly. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) … (No. I can’t focus on this right now with this wyn shouting on.) Nothing else points at me besides the trash in there! PRESENT: Horrifying Syringe OBJECTION! Listen. You whippersnapper, you- *deskslam* You can say that nothing points to you. This syringe that was hidden at your farm outside the barn, however, says otherwise! GAAAAAAAAAAAAH! If the same people who hid the notebook and paper in the barn hid the syringe also, they could’ve placed it outside for some reason! There was plenty of hiding space in the barn! Hang on one confangled second, whippersnapper! -TESTIMONY- Kids these days They might not have known that there was enough space in the barn! They could’ve searched the area before and found places inside the barn and outside to hide things! Why would the whippersnappers think not to choose a nice pile of hay as a place to hide something?! ~~~ … I’d like to just let Blanche go at this one. Thanks. Mr. Blanche. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- They might not have known that there was enough space in the barn! HOLD IT! They wouldn’t have known there was enough space? You can hide something behind an old plank or in a box, but where else do you hide something? Um… a lot of places? You mean like the food the animals were eating or the equipment I was using, whippersnapper?! They had a good idea with the hay! They could’ve searched the area before and found places inside the barn and outside to hide things! HOLD IT! Why wouldn’t they have hid the things while they were there? They obviously plumb didn’t have them yet, whippersnapper! Ah… right. I like plumbs! Why would the whippersnappers think not to choose a nice pile of hay as a place to hide something?! Press HOLD IT! Why would they choose hay that would be moved around instead of a place behind a machine or something where you wouldn’t look?! Hm… If he used magic to place the objects, he couldn’t have known exactly where everything was! Really? You know it, whippersnapper! Add that to your testimony. (I’ve got an idea…)~~~ OBJECTION! This proves a clear contradiction in the witness’ testimony! I don’t see any contradiction. Please stop this nonsense, Mr. Blanche. Argh! (There has to be a clear solution!) I didn’t think of him as suspicious originally… It’s to early to blame any sole person for anything. Right now, we need to figure things out. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) (I’m not noticing anything.) (After pressing statement 3) He could’ve used magic to put the items there, meaning he was a bit more unsure of where things were! HOLD IT! Couldn’t he have seen the area? Only if he had sight powers, whippersnapper! Our killer here only can deal with teleportation! Or so we think. He could’ve used magic to put the items there, meaning he was a bit more unsure of where things were! PRESENT: Dulcet’s Admission OBJECTION! ?! Hypothetically, the killer had teleportation but not sight. Therefore, he scoped out the area before and then teleported the objects later while in need. That’s correct. You’re home often enough that teleportation would be the surest way to get the objects there. Or so it seemed in the vile mind of the killing whippersnapper! Well, whoever that killing whippersnapper was… It couldn’t have been the defendant, as he has no magical abilities at all! Wait, what?! Besides that, those would be very unusual things for him to have.

A notebook and some paper with his name and fingerprints on it? This isn’t ordinary paper. Not only is it much more clear and smooth than a regular sheet, it has every single fingerprint of Dulcet’s on it. Something odd for him to be carrying around, one could say. Not if he collected plasticy sheets of paper! He’s got us there. Whatever it is, I don’t know how it got in my barn! … ! *clutches head* Xue, are you alright? (Things… things are starting to add up…)”One wyn who blatantly shouts lies nervously, putting on a strong exterior.” ”An unusual stolen knife with fingerprints on them that should not be there.” ”A lost, seemingly worthless, piece of trash. Disposed of with fingerprints that also should not be.” ”Disposed of… As if used once.” Xue? … Xue? *deskslam* Witness! What?! Let’s look at one of the objects found in your barn. Fingerprints on it. Every single one from Dulcet. What would anyone, good or villainous villain, old hero or whippersnapper, need that for? … Fan value? It was to plant the fingerprints on something. This knife, which the defendant is accused of using to scar the victim! THE KNIIIIIIIIIIFE?! OBJECTION! You’re claming he never held the knife at all?! He never needed to! His fingerprints were available to whoever wanted to put them on something! Why not put his fingerprints on a knife to make him look like a killer?! You… somehow… aren’t… With this being in a certain person’s property, the first person we should suspect… ! ! ! I am Doug Gonnit, a true war hero! Even when the odds are stacked against me, I can doggone do whatever I want! What’s your excuse? I now know who the one was that probably hid the things in my barn! *the audience mutters* Order! *slams gavel* Tell us about this at once! -TESTIMONY- Past Issues There was one suspect who was involved with the Prince’s original murder! His name was… Probably-Drew? Hopefully-Drew? Never-Drew? Something! The notebook thing says “Drew” on it! If he did it, I have nothing to do with anything! ~~~ Argh! (You can’t get away now!) Prosecutors. -DIRECT EXAMINATION- There was one suspect who was involved with the Prince’s original murder! HOLD IT! What was his name? Well… His name was… Probably-Drew? Hopefully-Drew? Never-Drew? Something! HOLD IT! You can’t remember exactly? It might’ve been Maybe-Drew, or Potentially-Drew, or Heck-No-Drew! I can’t remember! I like the sound of Maybe-Drew! It’s full of mystery! The notebook thing says “Drew” on it! If he did it, I have nothing to do with anything! Press HOLD IT! So, if this… suspect is still around- He was the one who put that in my barn, with certainty! ~~~ We’ve hit a critical point. The shins? No, this testimony. … why are you even in a court ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) (After pressing statement 3) That will be all. Mr. Blanche. -CROSS-EXAMINATION- There was one suspect who was involved with the Prince’s original murder! HOLD IT! A suspect they never arrested or convicted? He was there, alright! But they never convicted him of anything, so that hooligan’s still on the loose! If he did it originally, what stops him from being involved with this?! His name was… Probably-Drew? Hopefully-Drew? Never-Drew? Something! HOLD IT! You can’t remember his own name? I don’t follow the news that much, whippersnapper! Well, that seems obvious. The notebook thing says “Drew” on it! If he did it, I have nothing to do with anything! HOLD IT! Just because it has his name on it… Just because it’s my barn! He’s got you there. OBJECTION! What do you think of this, Doug?! I think you’re completely wrong, whippersnapper! Argh! (I set myself up for that one…) My vision from earlier… Your abilities are certainly… unique. When you get them from a drugged out faerie, yes. ((Return to beginning of testimony.)) Temporal Leak TEMPORAL LEAK! *Time slows down momentarily* There was… one suspect who… was involved… with the Prince’s… original murder…! His name… was… Probably-Drew…? Hopefully-Drew?… Never-Drew? …Something! The notebook… thing says… “Drew” on it…! If… he did it…, I have… nothing to …do with… anything! (I’m getting nothing.) His name… was… Probably-Drew…? Hopefully-Drew?… Never-Drew? …Something!Night Vision NIGHT VISION! *Everything speeds up suddenly with the sound of thousands of voices talking at once until two voices can be heard distinctly* *Everything returns to normal* AHA! What in the name of Sam Hill are you shouting about?! I think you did know that suspect’s real name. Hah! Really, whippersnapper? His name was Not-Drew. You were working with him. You can’t prove thaaaaat! Tell me how likely this sounds. You manage to get the fingerprints. He steals the notebook and you allow him to hide it and the evidence of the fingerprints there. He pays you rather generously. Let’s think of the things stolen… A gem… A formula. If that happened to be true, how would he get the fingerprints?! Think about it for a moment. You claim to be a war hero, Doug. What was your rank? Uh… I was a great general- If you had that much connection to the monarchy, who has all this information about the citizens, what would stop you from getting that? Grrngh! Think of someone else in the army. Captain Sob Baget, and his mistakes in investigating. Wasn’t he the one who gave you the fingerprints?! I don’t know what you’re talking abooooouuuuuuuuuuuuut! *deskslam* Doug Gonnit! Do we need to get a formal file to prove that Not-Drew had temporal abilities? That’s… No, that’s quite alright… Then if he teleported the body and scarred it, you got the fingerprints and put them on the blade ahead of time, until Not-Drew took the gem from the prince and the experimental contents of the syringe… It’s more than just a “probably” at this point… But let’s focus on the original murder. We know he got stabbed, killing him instantly. No fingerprints were found, making it a perfect canvas for new fingerprints. He might’ve been paid off to hide things, but he wouldn’t have a motive to kill the Prince! But why would he get paid a famous gem and a new formula that could make him rich for hiding a few things? You’re saying there had to be another reason why…? No fingerprints were found because you used gloves, eliminating the possibility of you being caught from that alone. They wouldn’t suspect an innocent general to be guilty of anything. Someone else is suspected, to your great pleasure. Your motive? Greed. Grrrgh… (It looks like I’m right so far…) If you were working with Not-Drew in the homicide, it would prevent you from ever being caught. All you had to do was send the body through time and frame someone else upon your ally’s request to make more money. Y-y-you can ramble all you want, sonny! Until you provide a piece of actual evidence, I’ve done nothing! !! Xue- No, he’s right. But I don’t have anything-Xue.[/sub] ?! The phone you have isn’t an ordinary phone. It’s revealed.[/sub] Well… yes-Entering the code once revealed this state. Entering it again will reveal the truth.[/sub] … Are you okay, Mr. Blanche? (Reveal the truth, huh…)*Xue enters 7 5 11* Playing recorded message… Recorded? Those aren’t supposed to be able to- *beep* ”Have you gained the… payment, then?” ”Of course, gramps. I trust you’ve ended him already.” ”Don’t say that. Just get it to me in 10 minutes.” ”There’s one more thing. I’ll wait until I’m there.” *beep* … … … … Audience: … I think… that’s sufficient enough evidence for you… You don’t- No, you don’t. You killed Prince Ipal and then committed this time travel act all for the money you thought you’d make! WHIIIIIIIIIPPPPEE EEEEEERSSSSSNNNNAA APPPPEEEEEEEERRRRRR! *Doug falls over, blacked out*
{Courtroom} The trial will now… resume. Mr. Gonnit didn’t have any severe injuries after blacking out and then smashing his head fairly hard on the ground. … A relief, considering the amount of questioning he’s going to be subjected to. Mr. Blanche. ? I don’t know how you saw through that thick web of lies. It wasn’t “me” alone. Even if you’re alone and blinded, your friends… Or your family will be there to help you through. *nods* *slams gavel* I believe that is enough evidence to declare a final verdict. This court finds the defendant, Dulcet Staccato… NOT GUILTY This court is adjourned!
{Courtroom Lobby} That’s finally over and done with. Indeed. Great job just like last time, Xue. Hah… Thanks. Great job Xue, I was feelin’ in the blue before you went and got your crew to get the final clue! Dulcet. What’s wrong, got a face that’s long? I’ve… got a question. How did you get bruised like they said if you didn’t do anything? Oh, that! Teagate could explain without an eyelash bat. Oh, I could. … Hello there. Now, to tell you something. This started out as Yca’s own plan to track you. The phones, including the one you were given, were tapped. He went and gave me a tapped phone? That’s where Dulcet comes in. My part of the plan was to be a man and go back through a time’s span to alter the phone before Yca decided he can! But… what about the recording? How did that happen? … Some things can’t be fully explained yet, Xue. Okay, what about Dulcet? If you really care, I tripped and fell down the stairs. … I see. I don’t think it’s that important right now. Gah! Sorry, did I startle you? Just a bit. I think that the rest of your questions will be answered in due time, Xue. Yeah, you shouldn’t be worried about what cannot be hurried! If you insist? You’re going to need rest if you’re to be prepared for the next challenge to come. Just take my word for it. *walks out of audience* Yeah, I think. Well, then it seems standing around this stuffy lobby isn’t helping. Then I’m outta here, now there’s nothin’ to fear! *Dulcet runs out* I’m second! *runs out* *AJ!Nick, Gray, and Teagate follow* *ponders* (I guess we did it.) See ya. *walks out* … Hey, wait for me! *chases* ~End of Case 4~ ~Tenebrific Turnabout~

*There's a fire lit in the fireplace. Louis sits in a recliner nearby.* Hello, and welcome to "Louis' Tales, Part 4!" Today I will give you the full story of my heroic quest in the Blueberry Kingdom before going to the NTWF. Last time, Lars joined the party and we took down the villainous villain Rebecca before she could start the terror known as Fry Day on French Toast City! Now, with Lars and Lucy in my party, we slayed some identical smiling slime creatures to earn some more gold. One of them dropped a new pair of shoes for some reason. I put them on. It wasn't long before we reached the quaint Scrambled Egg Hamlet! As a cozy little farm town, they grew many fresh vegetables like pizza in their open fields. However, things were not well in Scrambled Egg Hamlet! The pizza crops were struck with a disease that were killing them off horribly, a horrible plague was beginning, and a Twilight marathon was scheduled to be shown on every screen later. It was there we met a healer by the name of Lora, who was trying to help cure the citizens of the growing settlement! She mentioned that a villainous villain was probably spreading the diseases with dark magic! We mentioned that we were the GREAT HEROES trying to stop the villainously villainous villains, and she said that if we were going to end up in a fight with whoever was behind all this, we'd need her help to not get sick. We realized that the villain was bound to show up to watch the Twilight marathon, so we would train until it would begin later! Finally, the horrible showing began. A few innocent people went blind or entered a catatonic state within the first bew minutes! Hastily we ran to the secret hideout: a large, dark skull-shaped building with a "KEEP OUT" sign. There we met the evil villain himself, going by the name of Deadward Sullen! He shoved us outside his hideout and revealed his ultimate mode of attack: He could sparkle in the sunlight, causing instant blindness and epic facepalms to whoever saw! Lars and I went blind instantly, making it seem like all hope was lost! But Lora waved her Magical Staff of Magic and turned Deadward into a real vampire! He instantly screamed and burst into flame before turning into a pile of soot. Lucy picked up the shiny key that was hidden inside his hideout, just as the horrible movies stopped being broadcasted! The people thanked us as their vision returned and the bountiful pizza harvests returned. After our heroic efforts, we journeyed off to go find the last key and save the Blueberry Kingdom! I realize this is an epic tale of bravery, but we are out of time! Tune in next time for the last part! *The camera zooms in on a key on top of the fireplace*

I knew that your pathetic method would churn out a disappointing result.
But, uh, you know my intentions were good! I could've, y'know, gotten the information that you wanted-
You gave them the evidence that would save them.
I... I'm sorry!
You can rot in prison, schlemiel. A greater punishment is not required for you at this time. Nobody lost a thing, seeing Gonnit being dragged off in chains. He was another tool for his country.
Y-yeah, r-right... Yeah.
Besides...
I did want to watch Xue Blanche go down much more slowly and painfully.
((So yeah, missed my goal by a few days, but I've been sort of busy. I'll begin Case 5 whenever I can.))
