I think we should really reset all the cards and money people have, otherwise it's going to be really unfair on people who never played before. How would it be unfair? New players just need to create their deck and then find someone to duel. It was like that before and there were never any problems. You're only allowed to create decks with Commons. People who've been playing a while just have better cards. Plus, if we're going to change the card list, it's the easiest way to avoid confusion.

[glow=red,2,300]Hey guys, I'm glad to see this thing is making a comeback. I'll help out as much as I can. <3
I guess if we are cutting cards, though, it would be easier to hit the reset button entirely, so no one ends up with a deck of half-illegal cards and no money to buy new ones.[/glow]

Once we get this all figured out, we can decide how we want to reset. We don't really even have to reset, we can just let everyone replace their illegal cards for free. (If we do reset, I know I will want the same deck again, anyway. XD) You're only allowed to create decks with Commons. People who've been playing a while just have better cards. Plus, if we're going to change the card list, it's the easiest way to avoid confusion. The new player could simply ask their more experienced opponent to use their common deck, or say "no rares in this match, please?" In any case, a few uncommons don't mean instant victory for the owner. XD Else it would be total chaos for a long-running TCG. If your concern were true, then nobody would be able to join after a while because every vetran would have better cards. You do win shinies for losing, too. It's not like the game would become unwinnable to someone who has all commons and can't beat anyone. XD I certainly don't have better cards, anyway. My deck was pretty much all commons and IIRC I didn't lose a single match.

We really should just start from scratch, including creating the cards. Since very few of us know how to make trading cards which don't break the game and work, I sugges those that do make a guideline for us poor noobs to follow so we don't get any horrifcally weak cards or game breakers. That way the problem of having a deck full of illegal cards will be solved too as the cards will all be fine to use. ^^

Well, thing is, if we wipe the slate clean, people can still remake the cards they want. It is much easier for builders to build a house from the foundation up than to take an already crumbling house and renovate it. The house may still end up looking the same as the old one ... Mowfy can re-create her deck and such.
If we do re-create the whole card list, do we use the old creation system?
Also, I don't really think there is any need to recreate the event cards.

I understand what you mean, but it just seems like a lot of work. XD If we do re-create the whole card list, do we use the old creation system? Of course. Those guidelines exist to make sure every card is as balanced as possible. I agree about the event cards. The existing ones are perfectly fine the way they are. Before we go through the card list, I suggest that we have a good thorough look over of the various rules. We need to update and make sure that they're all in one place. Part of the problem in the past was that rules and explaination of gameplay elements were all over the place or out of date. If you want examples: In the card creation thread, it mentions the cost of having a card be immune to "all four status effects", yet the rules thread only lists three status effects. XD) Also, in the rules thread, it states that "Paralysis can’t have more than a 50% chance of hitting." yet according to the card creation thread, you're allowed to have 100% chance of hitting at the cost of 2 points. XDXD

I mean, all you have to do is get your old cards, make whatever changes you want (within the card creation guidelines) and then post 'em again. ^^ And yes, I noticed that ages ago. *giggles*

Not everyone who made cards is going to do that, though. XD And I wouldn't really want to change a card that someone else made.
Especially if it's a forumer card... unless we're leaving those alone, that is.

It also allows newbies to create their own forumer card and other cards too.

Mmhm. I guess that if my favourite cards aren't uhh... re-suggested by the original creator, I'll suggest them myself and hope that the original creator doesn't mind. XD
It's only the forumer cards that I'm worried about — not the generic fighters. Since forumer cards are personal. I just know that a lot of players used forumer cards in their decks. XD
No big deal, I suppose. The forumer can always request to change their card if someone else has suggested the old version. *nodnod*

I suggest we PM the forumers with cards in decks and have they say what they want to happen about the cards and try to revamp them somehow if the forumers want to keep them.

...woah, a zombie event. *lowers shotgun* Don't do this to me, people, I have killer reflexes xD
Anyway, I remember the card surge. The primary issue there was that the cardlist was mega-long and a good two thirds of them had nothing whatsoever to do with the NTWF, making it less of a NTWF TCG and more of a, well, random injoke-y card deck with no theme actually tying it together, if you follow my point here. The second edition card-axing was aiming to bring this NTWF aspect in more. Not to mention the cardlist was crazy-long to begin with because everyone was creating them left and right but very few people actually remained playing.
I'd like to help, but my free time these days is a rare and expensive commodity so I don't want to make any promises >> I do, however, still have the template file for making the actual cards (as in, the art) and if the pics are provided, creating the actual card only takes five minutes. But this'd then depend on whether or not this cleanup/revival/whatchamacallit actually includes the art.

Of course, what counts as being NTWF themed is subjective. XD The "NTWF" as a theme isn't entirely easy to judge, since what makes up the NTWF is largely the members and their injokes/ideas/games/whatever. We can only have so many Weewoo and writing related cards before it gets boring... and what's the limit with people's characters? ^^; That's where it ends up like... Jimmyjoe's persona's sidekick character TurtleBob is turned down for not being "NTWF related" while (example) Rider's character Shiva(?) is automatically accepted. XD That being said — the cardlist was indeed very, very oversized. XD The cardlist cutdown was just... executed poorly. Nobody was ever told what they were to do with their suddenly axed cards. A lot of people were very confused, and left with broken decks. XD That's when it just died. D: Anywaaay, I personally liked some of the creative ideas. Even if they weren't all entirely NTWF-inspired. XD EDIT: Art... hmmm, how much art was even completed, anyway? Maybe instead of having giant card graphics, it would be better to just have the card art alone. The art images can be linked to in the text of the card's name on the card list. It might be a lot easier and faster that way. XD

Isn't that more complicated than just saying "Okay, those card don't exist any more"? xD
Yes, that's true. And I think we should really encourage people to keep a common deck ready for such times.
Well... depends on the card. For example, Android Shopkeeper, of which I have two, is really good against commons, easy to get into action, and doesn't go down easily. And it is actually a problem. It died before, and a large part of the reason, in my opinion, was that it just looked - and was - hard to join.
Yes, but it's 20 rather than 50, and it's discouraging if everybody keeps beating you because they have better decks.
The fourth - Chibi - was included in 2nd edition, hence the confusion. It's never been used in a match, as far as I know.
